If you are concerned about food production and how we will sustain our food supplies for the future, then this book, The Natural Kitchen, by Deborah Eden Tull, is for you. With chapters on shopping guidelines, food recycling, "Green Menu Planning", growing food in our own backyards, and how to eat to sustain our own bodies and lives, this book is chock full of useful information to transform yourself into a "sustainable food revolutionary". I especially like the chapter on "The Peaceful Kitchen"...more

The author lived in a monastery for a period time, with a no-waste kitchen, excellent garden, and a high degree of mindfulness. While I'm not a master of "preparing one meal a week to eat in silence," she had some good points about no-waste kitchens and eating well.

I enjoyed an almost 2 hour workshop/talk by the author at the Ecology Center. The book offers in a sense mindfulness training in all areas of our lives around growing food, shopping, cooking, and eating....

I love these series of books and this one was no different.

A definite book every home kitchen should have for reference.

Interesting information and much food for thought. It got me to think about many of the products/items I use everyday and to investigate their safety. The content was not what I expected.

This book is good for beginners at sustainability, or people interested in making their kitchens eco-friendly. I like how it covers things like cookware and using leftovers. If you're already into the sustainability movement, this book will probably not cover any new ground for you.

No great new insights, but a valuable book for those who know nothing about minimizing waste, carbon footprint and eating healthfully. I donated my copy to the library.

An inspiring, informative book that doesn't pander to people who just want a quick fix for environmental issues. This book requires you to go deep, and it's totally worth it.
Renee
I took a class on this from the author. She's lovely and knowledgeable, and I keep wanting to learn more.
