A simple explanation is carbs are killing Americans. Dr. Strand points out all carbs are not equal. The processed flour we use for breads, cereals, and pasta are worse than eating spoon fulls of sugar. He explains it scientifically. It's a pretty easy read. I've started avoiding most of the bad carbs, fortunately sourdough bread has some latic acid or something that makes it not so bad. The only thing I won't change is, I"M NOT GIVING UP PIZZA. That's where I draw the line.
This is an easy read and really covers the concept of low glycemic eating and how important it is to shed fat and maintain health. My dad has type 2 Diabetes and this book was very helpful in understanding the disease and how to accomadate his special needs.
I absolutely love this book. I was worried it would be too scientific boring, but it wasn't. He explained the body in a way I understood and gave enough evidence for me to stay committed to a low-glycemic, exercise, and nutritional supplement lifestyle.
Really interesting read that makes sense to me. It really hits home how Americans (and people in general) are so addicted to carbohydrates and what it is doing to our bodies.

I wish there was a way to incorporate this better into the eating plans. One recommended substitute for vegetarians includes soy, which I'm not a huge fan of ei...more

Interesting read about carbohydrate addiction and insulin resistance, and making sure to include food choices/exercise/cellular supplements in any lifestyle changes. (A fair number of typos, though. I'd like to send him a copy-edited version.)
Good insights into the importance of knowing the glycemic index of foods you eat.
A must read for every person!
Another GREAT book by Dr. Strand. If you are serious about getting healthy or staying healthy, this is information that you need and you probably won't get from your Doctor.
When I read this book I had no idea that the principles that I would learn would help me to have the dramatic improvement in health that I had. By understanding what was going on with my body I was able to become a healthier person.
even more difficult to follow, but lots of info.
