Wow! Michael Dante is yummy in Fair Play even if he is missing some teeth! Michael Dante Aka Mikey D is an older hockey player from the Blades who is a romantic at heart. Two years ago he met Theresa Falcontti, an Italian publicist whom he became absolute smitten with. However, Theresa did not reciprocate her feeling with Mikey and chose to ignore him. Theresa ended up going out with another member if the Blades and when her date becomes a potential rape, Theresa is scarred. She swears she will ...more

Didn't like this and thought I'd try it again in a bit and see if it was just my mood. It wasn't. I'll read others, but did not like the Theresa character AT. ALL. She was a TOTAL B**CH. Just not a nice person and Michael was so nice. Didn't want to watch this train wreck happen. Want NO part in it. So, there you have it...

So, will pass this one up and read others in this series when time permits.

I didn't like, but you might...

Read, if you want.. but don't blame me if you don't like it!

This is the second book in her New York Blades series. Of the books I’ve read–and I’ve read them all out of order–this was my absolute favorite. This might actually be my favorite book of 2010. Martin has an amazing ability to create characters that are funny, real, but really go through some tough stuff before the end of the book. This one was no exception.

Theresa Falconetti is a PR firm co-owner trying to get her budding business off the group. Michael Dante is a seasoned hockey player running
The reason why I generally avoid books that are tagged as “romance” is mainly due to the fact that I often find them plain and boring. I am aware that a romance will guarantee steamy sex scenes and a truly happy ending with closure (usually there would be a proper wedding) and I have nothing against those two elements (well maybe those marriage proposals bother me a bit) but sometimes I have a feeling that romance writers are simply following a manual and this means poor dialogues ad entertainme ...more

I LOVED this story! And seriously - Theresa is out of her mind not to go for Michael! I had a crush on him after just a few chapters! Although not heavy in the actual 'smut' factor (actually, there really wasn't any smut at all!), I thoroughly enjoyed the romance/relationship aspect of this book, just like the first in the series - Body Check. Martin creates really colorful characters who you quickly come to care much so that I almost find myself disappointed to read the last page in ...more

Theresa and her best friend have opened their own PR business, she is working hard to put the past behind her and get on with her life. Michael is best friends with Theresas best friends’ husband and he has wanted Theresa for a really long time. Theresa wrote him off the first night they met, when he forgot to put his teeth in. Theresa was assaulted by one of his teammates and now she has a firm no athletes rule. Michael hires Theresa to promote his families restaurant and hopefully to spend som ...more

Life keeps getting in the way of my reading, but I finally managed to finish this one.

To tell you the truth, I was a bit disappointed in Theresa. She was a kick-ass character in the first book, but after what happened with the Russian, she's been all over the map in this one. At times I had no idea why Michael would want her at all.

Michael's character was basically carrying the whole story. I only kept on reading for him. I wouldn't have batted an eye if the author had given the role of leading

DNF at 50% because there are WAY too many obstacles remaining at this point in the story and the MC is stubborn to a fault.

Just before this book I was wondering to myself what would make a book a 5 star for me and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Then I read this book. I'm not sure what it was about it that I loved so much. It could have been the families, so very much like my own, the food, the kind I grew up on and the atmosphere I grew up in, or it could just have been the humor and characters that I fell in love with. And although I am too much a fan of the genre to complain about the in-love-at-first-sight ...more

Book two in Deirdre Martin’s New York Blades series was beyond my expectations. I enjoyed book 1, Body Check, but had some serious issues with it too. So I was a bit worried that this second book would ruin my book a day streak (17 days!) Luckily? I was enthralled and read it in one sitting! (Like I said, I’m on a streak!)

I really liked Theresa in Body Check, and I knew the minute they introduced Michael Dante (missing teeth and all!) That I was going to love him. So I was so glad to get to read

I struggled with the first book from the serie, I gave it 3 stars, hoping the second one, with characters we already know, would be easier! Nope, not going to happen!

For the first part of the book I wanted to bitch slap him soooo much! There is a line between interest in woman and a stalking! Obviously our old fashion Mikey D didn't get the memo!! She had a bad experience with a pushy guy, and this one thinks that jumping her every way posible, will give him a chance!

Second part of the book I w
I rarely write book reviews, but I think I'll make an exception for this one.
I gave Fair Play 3 , but it really deserves 2,5 ... The half star is purely for Michael! After reading the 1st book of the series my expectations were high and I was really excited about Michael and Theresa's story! However the 2nd book let me down big time!!! Not only I couldn't identify myshelf with Theresa at any point, but she made me ridiculously angry at several occasions! I get that she was seriously traumatised

Is it bad that I couldn't stand the main chick?
i think that the words bid, bode, and bade are very awkward for a contemporary setting. i also think that authors should learn the difference between insure and ensure. basically, this was a very good story but a little too "goody-two-shoes" for me. somebody forgot to wear a condom and the marriage thing was waaaay too fast. i think the author is trying for a "happy medium" between what is most popular nowadays and what she's comfortable with. i don't see myself following up with this author -- ...more

Surprisingly, I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would. Not because I felt the first book was hard to top, but because the heroine, Theresa, was so bland as a character. That is, when she wasn't coming off as a snob. Seriously, she actually looked for excuses not to date Michael, yet was only too eager to date blue-blood Reese (I totally called it, by the way, that he was up to no good). She even told Janna, her best friend and the heroine from the first book, that Michael 'wasn't who ...more

I liked this book. It follows on from 'Body Check' with Theresa Falconetti (best friend of Janna MacNeil in 'Body Check') as she battles the emotional fallout of her attempted rape in the first book. She has all sorts of issues with men, and hockey players in particular. Naturally, the one guy that is convinced she is 'The One' is hockey player Michael Dante. Now, this guy had me won over from the start. All round nice guy and hottie, he has decided Theresa is 'The One' and pursues her relentles ...more

I found this book much better than the first it had a depth that the first one just didn't achieve for me. theresa was definitely not a cookie cutter character and her struggle between who she was before her assault and who she became after it was very realistic and well written. and who doesn't love a guy like michael? he's a family man he's hunky and he's romantic though I could've done without his temper issues. the romance between the two was very honest and deep and overall I enjoyed this o ...more

I loved this book!!! It's totally not your middle-of-the-road romance novel although it does possess some of the cheesiness that is common for this genre.

Most importantly, there's character development! We get to know them and like them and then there's actually something to root for when it comes time for them to get together. Theresa, the lead female, is multi-dimensional and has a real career (not just a temp job, which is what happens in most romance novels). She also has real-life family a

I wasn’t a very big fan of the first book in this series, Body Check. I found it to be rather slow and meh. But I decided to give the series another try and I picked up Fair Play. I am so happy I did this, finding it quiet enjoyable.

I think the biggest pro for me was the fact that the book seemed to continue on from the last book, only in the sense that it didn’t do a lot of rehashing and reminding. I really hate the feeling you get that you are reading the first book for a second time instead o

I am a fan of romances that actually have romance and less "smut" as someone else had put it. I'm also a big hockey fan so this book had it all for me. I fit reading it into any free time I had because I had to see how Michael won Theresa over. I wasn't the biggest fan of the ending, but it was a very typical romance ending. I definitely recommend this book not only to hockey fans but to anyone who lives hockey and is from the NY/NJ area, especially if they're Italian.

This book was a lot better than the previous. The reading was easy and fun. I liked the storyline and the characters. I enjoyed the romance. Although I didn't really fancy the chase and conflict but it was good. At least, it spiced up the story.

I liked Theresa and Michael were flirting and teasing each other. They made me laughed a lot. They were so great being together I was angry with her when throughout the story, she was in denial because she was afraid of fond and intimacy. Even though she

It's a light read. I was really disappointed after the 1st book. I just expected a Theresa who's not as scared as a rabbit. If you compare Janna and Theresa and the way they handle situations, the 2nd book is a complete disaster compared to the 1st one. I don't think it even earned the full 1 star rating.
I just love Michael!! He's every girl's dream guy. But does Theresa see that? She pushes him away time after time and hooks up with a total schmuck instead. I hated her character so much I felt

DNF at 55%. This book wasn’t as bad as the first one in this series, which is probably why I made it further into this book before deciding that I’ve had enough. Michael was a great guy. Theresa, on the other hand though, was not only a grade-A bitch, but she was also the most annoying MC I’ve ever come across. I was so happy when (view spoiler) ...more

Ohhhh querido Michael Dante

I liked this story and the idea behind avoiding athletes!

I was really rooting for the hero the whole book and was actually getting frustrated that he wasn't being given a chance. I liked the character development and the struggle resolved between two special brothers.

I was very happy with the way things ended.
I didn't like Theresa that much. She was such a bitch to Dante - I know she has the right because of her traumatic experience but it was too much. She acts like she's sixteen - dreaming about romance and such. I don't know how many times I rolled my eyes and winced at her. I didn't even finish the book in a day - which is unusual of me. I almost DNF this. But I guess I just can't. Know why? Dante is just so charming I can't. He's like the perf guy. One of the reasons why I didn't like Theresa is ...more
