I couldn't help myself. Once I'd heard that Jason and Grant had written a book about their experiences pre-Ghost Hunters and beyond, I was beyond excited.

The first half of the book is intriguing. There are backstories for all the regulars on the show (I didn't know that Steve was a police officer!) and some neat tidbits about the cofounders, themselves (Jason swears by green olives to chase away the "dead people").

After the introductions, there is a chapter devoted to each ...more

A fun read!

Die-hard fans of the show may be a little bummed about some stuff, though: First, I would have loved to hear a little more about the cast/TAPS members as people... the full stories behind their motivation to hunt ghosts, their phobias, etc. I can totally understand that they want the focus to be more on what they do as opposed to who they are (I respect them very much for wanting to remain professional instead of becoming celebrities), but that understanding still didn't stop me ...more

I have to say I was a tad disappointed with this book. I am a fan of the show so had high expectations on how this book would turn out. It did start off well describing how the team was formed and the time line of how each member joined up. It falls apart when they start going through the cases. All the ones which have not been featured on the TV show were given barely two pages and hardly any details where the ones on the show got the most detail. Since I watch the show I knew all about those...more

This has to be one of the worst books I've ever read. I admit outright that I'm not familiar with their TV show so maybe it is common knowledge that the two authors are egotistical idiots but it certainly shows through in this writing. Each "case" is barely a blurb and focuses more on the "wacky tricks" they play on each other or how one member is ruining everything by not focusing on the seriousness of their investigations. It seemed really badly ghost-written (excuse the pu...more

If you're a fan of the show then you'll enjoy the book. Those looking for insight into the background of TAPS will enjoy the beginning of the book where Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson talk about their own experiences. The second half of the book was a breakdown of the cases that they presented on the show (and a couple that weren't), but for the most part it felt like a synopsis of the episodes. I was looking for more personal feedback. Maybe even a few learned experiences. The books was fun and i...more

I was pretty surprised by the straightforward storytelling here. Concise little chapters, written by Hawes, with a little afterword by his fellow ghost-hunting buddy, Grant Wilson.
The first chapters were scarier, especially one which detailed a haunted apartment, which formerly housed a guy into demonology. The tenant had been evicted, but strange goings-on were disturbing other tenants in the building.
Hawes describes furniture moving, scary voices. Wow! I want to see that on the Ghost...more

This one had taken a looooooooooooooooong time to make its way into my library's holdings, after agreeing to purchase it months ago! Sadly, I must report finding the book mildly disappointing. The T.A.P.S. team specialize in technical analysis of reported hauntings, rather than any sort of "contact" with the entities; there are manifestations involved in some cases, but, often, the individual story will seem a glorified checklist report. Don't buy a full-price copy - get it from the li...more

After doing a math project i was drawn to reading crazy books about the phenomena about ghosts and the existence of them. from this book i learned about all the different tools and technology that has been developed in order to help with the detection of ghosts like white noise voice stuff, radioactivity detecters, special cameras and lights. theres alot of science and technology that goes into these experimental ways of identifying ghosts which i found captivating.

I thought this book was rather interesting. I have just started watching the show so a lot of the cases I was unfamiliar with. I think that this is a great introduction to the people on the show and an insight to how T.A.P.S is run. It's almost like a behind the scenes look at the show. The only thing I found frustrating was that I could not see the evidence they were talking about but that just means I will have to watch the show more often. :D

I am a HUGE TAPS fan so of course I loved this book - the only reason I would not give it 5 stars is that most of the stories were past shows so I already knew what was going to happen! There was some new info also and Ghost Hunters is the only show that I watch so I HAD to read the book!! I love Jason and Grant's scietific approach to the paranormal - if you are looking for proof that ghosts do exist - TAPS is as close as you will get!

Amazing. I loved it. I'm a huge huge fan of the show Ghost Hunters and it was very cool to read about some of the ones I'm very familiar with (like St. Augustine Lighthouse - my fave ep!) and also ones from TAPS' early days, long before they had a show. Ultimately a fast read if you have the time to just sit and read it but a fun thing for any fan of the show to have! Or even anyone interested in the paranormal. :)

If you like the Sci-Fi channel's show "Ghost Hunters" you will probably like this book. It contains information on cases not seen on TV as well as some behind the scenes information on the T.A.P.S. team (but mostly just those whom are seen on TV). I continue to appreciate this group for their scientific approach to disproving things instead of just ratifying every little thing as proof of hauntings.

I thoroughly enjoyed my personally signed page turner! Of course, after having met Jason and Grant all the stories seemed even more spectacular, although it was hard to read while in a haunted hotel in Lily Dale. I have probably seen every single episode and this book kind of gives you a deeper look into what we already know...but there are some very scary experiences to surprise you.

Love the tv series. Let's see how the book goes.

The book is great if you are already a fan of the series and know some of the members of taps. There is a lot of back story on Brian in the book, and one can see why Jay and Grant were frustrated with his behavior. Also, most of the cases were from the first couple of years of the show, so it is a nice recap of the best cases.

If you're a fan of Ghost Hunters, you might want to read this. Much of it rehashing of investigations filmed for the show, but there are a few in there that are pretty creepy and that never made the show because the owners of the places wouldn't consent. The ghost writer (couldn't resist) did a good job of keeping Jason and Grant's voices distinct and much like they sound on air.

This book basically tells stories of Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, the founders of The TransAtlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS). Many of the stories in the book have aired on their show, "Ghost Hunters." But there are a few things in the book not on the show. It's a quick and easy read. As someone fascinated by the paranormal, I thought it was worth taking a look at.

This book is broken down by investigations. And while there were a few in the beginning that I didn't know about, the rest of them have all been covered on their cable program. Here and there they mention things that you didn't get to see on TV too, which is interesting. Even though I've seen all the shows, it's nice to go back and read about them again!

I'm such a huge fan of the show. I had to get that out of the way first. The book covers a few investigations pre-SciFi and does delve into why Jason chose the field he is in. I really think they could have gone into greater detail. I wouldn't recommend the book to someone who isn't extremely familiar with the show. If you are a fan, it's a must read.

I'm a huge fan of the show, so I loved this book. It went into cases that were investigated before the TV show, cases that weren't aired, and it went more in-depth on cases that were on the show. Also, Jason discusses how TAPS got started and his experience that got him interested in the paranormal. Definitely a must-read for other fans of the show.

I love this show!! Couldn't resist picking it up. I had seen most of the episodes which were written about in the book. But there were some interesting tidbits that I didn't catch on the show. The book is always better than the movie!!! or in this case TV show. It was written in a very 'Jason' way. Balls out. Nothing lyrical about it.
