'I've always been a girls' girl. And I know from experience that making the very best of yourself is something any woman can do. I was never the six-foot-tall pin-up. I've always been the girl-next-door who got lucky. I've come a long way in the last ten years, but this book isn't my attempt to tell you what or what not to do. It's just to share some of what I've learned.

Ever since she was in the Spice Girls, I've been fascinated with Victoria Beckham. Its kind of hard not to be. Have you seen her husband? And she's known for her fashion. And there's rumors. I swear, I heard one once where the husband wanted her to remove a rib or something so that she will be thinner. I don't think that's true. Anyway, a friend of mine gave me a bunch of old magazines and there was one with an article about Victoria and it talks about this book. So I checked it out. I have very...more

I don't care who she is married to, I love Victoria Beckham. Except for her love of Abercromie and Fitch. For a woman with plenty of money and, rarer, class, she has a strange obsession with A&F. Other than this strange quirk, there was plenty to love in her book about style. It seemed as though she was right there, sharing her tips directly with me. I loved the Britishness of it all, as well. She never gave actual price points, which is my other complaint (Posh's 'not expensive' is likely n...more

I personally am a huge fan of Victoria Beckham. The woman has class and has a style that I absolutely love. I would recommend this book for anyone who loves either Victoria Beckham or fashion. The book is written in a way that it is almost like you are sitting down with Victoria herself and she is giving you the ins and outs of what it is that she has learned about fashion over the years. I first read this book from the library but it is now on my Amazon wishlist to be purchased. As a girl that...more

Very fun. Celebrates the art of choosing and wearing things that make you feel and look great. But also provides some useful 'never go outside looking like...' advice. She is very tongue in cheek, self deprecating, honest, and aware that she is incredibly lucky to have the life that she does. Didn't walk away wanting to re-haul my wardrobe, but I did get some packing/traveling tips as well as some useful reminders ("the most expensive thing in your closet is the one you only wear once"). Note to...more

it was good. if you didn't know much about fashion it would prove useful as it provided lots of tips and ideas, especially if you live in London...
the set out of the book was good; broken up into different sections as to not confuse readers and each section had a double page for notes which is a nifty idea if you're reading this book to change your style or are quite clueless when it comes to styling yourself and where to start.
but really, i kinda only read this for Victoria Beckham. i love her...more

How I Came To Read This Book: My friend Robyn lent it to me.

The Plot: Victoria Beckham is heralded these days as a fashion icon, mostly because it's the only thing she really contributes to the entertainment world. This book is a candid look at her advice when it comes to all things image - from head to toe - including suggested stores, fashion tips, and plenty of glossy photos of the Posh one to 'inspire' you.

The Good & The Bad: The main issue with this book is anyone who actually follows V...more

fun book and light reading, I enjoyed it. Well, Ms. Beckham has decided to part with her style secrets in this fun, colorful book to help us average Janes avoid looking "frumpy or mumsy". Whether giving the scoop on jeans and proper fit, beauty care, or dressing for a special occasion, Beckhman manages to keep the tone practical, light and conversational - what you'd expect if your most stylish buddy sat you down and filled you in on the details, from where to buy to what works with what. She ge...more

That Extra Half an Inch is a collection of style guidelines and tips, rather than a list of exactly what or what not to wear. Where-to-buy ideas are provided, but this book is more about Victoria Beckham's own fashion inspirations and passions. It's written in a friendly, witty style, making it very readable. It's beautifully designed and helpfully structured (there are chapters for different items of clothing and accessories, each followed by suggestions about where to shop); of course, it's no...more

I bought this book, hardcover, first edition, the week it came out in London. Always fascinated by fashion and specially LBD's (that Victoria was famous for perpetuating on stage), I have this weird ritual to read it every couple of years and this is my fourth time.
I love all things Victoria but I love all this fab on top of that and the book is really really beautifully constructed, well designed and made to last another generation of style concious girls.
Written to be understood, with simple t...more

Say what you will about Mrs. Beckham, the broad knows how to dress. And she's got a thing for heels and tulle skirts, so I can relate.

Let's face it -- the book is essentially an ode to Victoria's ego, but it's also surprisingly extensive and filled with lots of advice for those who can't afford Balenciaga...yet.

It's the kind of book that wouldn't be out of place on Carrie Bradshaw's bookshelf. Fun and frothy for your favorite fashionista!

Okay, so this book does not have a lot of substance, lol. I liked it though. The pictures and drawings are cute. I like the little insights into the life a Spice Girl, it's fun. I was surprised at how much I liked some of the advice though. It's pretty typical stuff, and not much of it is applicable to me as a poor college student; I cannot shop for everyday clothes at Banana Republic at this point in my life. Kitten heels are gross though, bikini waxes are a must when living in a swimsuit, and...more

One of my favorite books to read for the fact that it was inspirational, aspirational and speaks from the sensibility of all of us being a girl at heart. It is great to follow her journey and see how she has made a name for herself as one of the fashion icons of our time. A reader gets insight into her process of developing her own sense of style as well. Illustration and photography beautiful as well.

I bought this book, mostly because I love VB. I went in to this book knowing I should take it with a grain of salt. Though, I did learn valuable information about how I should buy my jeans and trousers, and to definitely stock up on them. I also really enjoyed some of the little flashbacks into her life, like her Chanel "book bag" and where she talked about her wedding.

A cute and informative book filled with beautiful pictures and fashion advice from a true style icon! There are multiple sections, including ones on denim, outerwear, beauty, and even maternity, which makes navigating the book a cinch. I found some interesting tips inside and have read it twice over the years. A fun summer read!

This book was okay... I personally thought that Lauren Conrad's take on the whole fashion world was much more realistic and interesting, but Beckham does give some valuable tips. However, she does mention her own brand, dVb, a LOT, recommending it as a luxury brand for many of her sections on clothing, and where to buy. Maybe a tad bit of overkill. I legitimately read the first 100 pages, skimmed the next hundred, and ditched the last hundred.

I feel bad for anyone who can't or refuses to enjoy this book just because it was written by Posh Spice. I found her to be surprisingly intelligent and actually hilarious. I probably wouldn't pick this book up again but it was very entertaining for the day or two I was reading it.

Before I read this book, I didn't even like Victoria Beckham.
I got this stuck-up vibe from her, and I didn't think she would be a person who would want to help others when it came to fashion or beauty in general.
Surprisingly, Posh spills all in this book, from where to buy to how to wear. Even the little tidbits she learned as a kid from her mother are included throughout the sections of the novel.
Although I do recommend reading it by section, rather than front to back, like I did. I find it's m...more

I have mad, mad love for Mrs. Beckham, cake, and shiny things and this book brings them all together for one glorious romp. Granted, I had to make the cake myself (and the tea!) but this book most definitely delivers the shiny. Mrs. Beckham does not lay down the fashion law; rather, she gives a multitude of ideas that have worked for her and others and also steers the reader away from what doesn't really work. She also doesn't just recommend high-end labels: Gap, Victoria's Secret, even Playtex...more

I can't say that this book is a breakthrough. It's more of a glorified "look at how beautiful I am" Victoria Beckham look book. Granted, the woman is beautiful and thing. But, beyond wearing high heels and dreaming of being friends with fashion designers, I can't really say that I gained anything substantial from reading this book.
Cynthia
Victoria Beckham is hilarious. I absolutely loved this book - full of her quotes and quirks and individuality. I loved the ruffles and the fashion advice - especially since most of them suggested for us to go to Topshop...but that's always nice.

Victoria's book is a standard fashion book speaking of fashion trend from her point of view. I liked the book, it's rich, elegant & highly useful. I admire her style as a fashion icon & if you like Victoria then you will definitely like this book.
Priscilla Marie
Surprisingly a good read. I really expected a book full of high fashion advice and information I couldn't use in my real life. But Beckham actually had fashion tips for the everyday person. And I was surprised that she seemed kinda normal herself.

I am NOT ashamed to say I have this book and LOVED IT! Nor am I ashamed to admit my love for Posh Spice. Despite how she personally dresses (a true denizen of Go Fug Yourself), she dispenses some very good fashion advice in the book.

Why did I buy this book,I really don't know.
I absolutely hate everything about Victoria Beckham and avoid everything associated with her at all costs usually.
But for some reason I bought this book, despite the fact I don't even like her so called 'fashion sense'.
I suppose curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to see if it was actually any good.It wasn't.
She promotes her jeans, goes on about her skin care regime but doesn't really tell you anything new.

There was a time when I was in love with Victoria Beckham. Now, I find her a bit ridiculous, but she is very stylish and that can't be argued. This book is full of great fashion tips, and I love all of the fabulous photos.
Lauren
this was a fun light read perfect for summer. visually it was just a beautiful book with all the drawings and photography. however there was great advice too. i particularly enjoyed the tip tops littered throughout the book.
Caitlin
Found it kind of boring, I couldn't finish it. If I had written a book about fashion, it would probably include the same stuff.. it's mostly obvious tips.

I'd prefer a book by Stacey London.
Karen
Just a fun little read - not too bad to shop with :) She's known for her outrageous style, but this book is really full of basics, plus sections on beauty, hair, gifts, travel, etc.

Victoria Beckham is sassy classy.
I loved this book
Presentation tips fashion do and do nots.
Yes there were things I didnt so much agree with but over all this book is brilliant.
Brittney
The style info was a little "duh"...but my mom sure needs her tips! I think Posh is great and I like her personality/humor, so the book was still enjoyable for me.

Victoria Caroline Beckham (née Adams) is an English singer, songwriter, dancer, fashion designer, author, businesswoman, actress and model.

During her rise to fame with 1990's pop group the Spice Girls, Beckham was dubbed Posh Spice, a nickname first coined by the British pop music magazine, Top of the Pops, in their July, 1996, issue. Since the Spice Girls followed separate careers, she has dabble...more
