Last Dragon Standing (The Dragon Kin #4)
by
G.A. Aiken
"Sexy and outrageous humor." --"Romantic Times"I know what they see when they look at me. The charming, soft-spoken dragoness bred from the most powerful of royal bloodlines. A disguise stronger than any battle shield that allows me to keep all suitors at tail's length. A technique that's worked until him. Until Ragnar the Cunning, handsome barbarian warlord and warrior ma...more

3 stars: entertaining PNR but not as great as earlier books
The fourth book in the Dragonkin series, the 'Last Dragon Standing' picks up immediately following What a Dragon Should Know. We previously met Ragnar the Cunning, a Northland lightning dragon, and Keita the Viper, a royal Southland fire dragon. Keita was captured by Ragnar's father and Ragnar released her. Her antics get on his nerves and he wants nothing more to do with her. When he is called by the Queen by their alliance to escort he...more

Ragnar'ın Dagmar'a aşık olduğunu düşünmüştüm, belki ilk zamanlarda öyleydi de ama...more

Another great dragon kin book. Lots seem to happen and yet there were no big battles, or wars. Just preparation for the big one coming.
It has been about 2 years, in storyland, since we last saw Annwyl the Bloody and she has since had the demon twins. Talaith has also had her second daughter, though Izzy didn't even know she was pregnant as she has been out on patrol for 2 years learning to be a soldier.

This was my least favorite of all the Dragon Kin books. I admit, I wasn't looking forward to reading about Keita in the first place. The appearances she made in the previous books didn't really endear her to me. She came off more like the female characters in the Mangus Pack books - extremely bitchy. Also, that girl got around a lot. Gwenvael got around a lot too, but he came off as sweeter and funnier, and less crass. That made all the difference for me.

These books are just fun reading. The returning characters have such sarcastic humor and the family dynamics are a riot. We get to know Keita the Viper and returning in this book is Ragnar the Royal Lightning Dragon from the North. I love that each book continues on plots from previous books in the series so that none of the storyline have to be completed in just one book. Aiken has such a great writing style and her plot twists always are unpredictable. Keita is the mirror of her brother Gwenva...more
Last Dragon Standing is the fourth book in the Dragon Kin series aka the sexy dragon books. The couple in this book is Ragnar the Cunning and Keita the Red Viper Dragon of Despair and Death. Have I mentioned how much I love the names in these books? These books follow in pretty quick succession and they really build on the events of previous books. I’m going to try and review the book without talking too much or spoiling anything.

Fourth in the Dragon Kin hysterically funny paranormal romance series revolving around a large family of dragonshifters. The couple focus is on Ragnar the Cunning and Keita the Vile.
It takes up shortly before the end of What a Dragon Should Know .
My Take
Pee before you read. It is such a snark-fest. Aiken will make you laugh and wish you knew these characters as she stands society and manners on their heads.

Book 4 in the series and not my favourite although it is still very good. Previous leading ladies in this series have included a human warrior queen, a Nolwenn witch and a warlord's human daughter. In "Last Dragon Standing" it is a dragoness, specifically the youngest daughter of the royal line who takes a lead role. Keita the Viper is at first (and second) glance a vapid, flirtatious and rather stupid princess.

This is the 4th book in the Dragon Kin series by GA Aiken. Each story centers on a different sibling in this dragon shifter Royal family.
This one centers on the Dragon Princess Keita, younger sister to Morfyd, Gwenvael, Breic and Fearghus, and elder sister to Eibhear the Blue. Traveling with her longtime friend Ren, a foreign dragon who has some magic of his own, Keita manages to get in a spot of trouble, and just as she's about to be publicly executed - the lightning dragon Ragnar the Cunning...more

I admit.. i have mixed feelings when it comes to this book. I am of course, amazed at how the author gave the traits of each character.. they're very distinct and true til the end. Keita's character came out really strong, sexy and determined while Ragnar's character came out serious and quite powerful. I can't say they're the best couple but they do have their moments. I like it that the series continues to make me laugh out loud. The fight scene in this book? greaaat! i don't know where the au...more
A really enjoyed the previous 3 novels, so I had to pick this one up. Read a little more like an urban fantasy novel and less like a predictable romance. Keita is not a typical romance heroine; I hesitate to say, but she reminded me more of a modern "chick lit" heroine, like the "Sex in the City" girls. Ragnar kind of took the "feminine" role in the relationship, being more reserved and introverted while Keita is brash and outgoing. (The book seems to be primarily written from Ragnar's perspecti...more
G.A. Aiken’s Last Dragon Standing is far and away one of my favorite shapeshifter books. G. A. Aiken is actually the pseudonym used by Shelly Laurenston when writing her Dragon Kin series, and I love to read her books because they are so very, very funny. This particular novel features the beautiful and spoiled dragon princess Keita, and how the author can take a stunningly beautiful spoiled brat and make her so very appealing is proof of the author’s skill. Keita is unabashedly self-centered, b...more

Last Dragon Standing is a very good book, but of the Dragon Kin series it has the least romance. This book seems to be building the overall series storyline and preparing the readers for some grand finale. It's filled with humor, intrigue, and a fleshed out dragon world. If I could I would give this story 3 1/2 stars.

All along Keita had been biding her time. She was the youngest daughter, the femme fatale, the one everyone protected. She was the assassin.
She was also very annoyed with her current captor, Ragnar, a Northern dragon and mage. Ragnar saved her from his father - who's going to save Ragnar from Keita? The trek home has never seemed so long with their bickering (hilarious), their private thoughts (scandalous!)and Ragnar's cousins drooling after Keita's every step.

This is book four in the excellent Dragon series following up from What a Dragon Should Know. Its set one year later .I thought nothing could beat the last book, I absolutely love the character Dagmar the Beast, & we continue to see her machinisations & quiet power in action, in this volume. On a personal note I would never have mated her with Gwenvael.Though we do see a different side of him when he tries to protect his siblings from what he sees as unsuitable mates & jealous streak...more
I’ve been a fan of this series since I discovered Shelly Laurentson also writes as G.A. Aiken that being said I was a bit disappointed in Last Dragon Standing. The main character Keita displays herself as a carefree loose moral royal with serious Mommy issues. Ragnar the Cunning saves her from being kidnapped by his father to try and ransom her with the queen. Only the queen decides her troubled daughter is really not worth the headache and decides Ragnar can keep Keita. Fast forward a few years...more
Wow there was a lot going on Last Dragon Standing which was less romance-y than the rest of the books in this series but which still had plenty of the laugh out loud moments (and a bit of the crass language) you'd expect from this Shelley Laurenston alter ego.

The thing I love about this series is the arrogance of the dragons and the extreme attitudes the humans in their lives must have in order to deal with them. They are all vindictive, cruel and fierce but it's so entertaining to watch them go at it. The sarcasm alone had me laughing out loud more than once.
In this book we get to know Keita a little bit better. Up until this point she has been described as the slutty absent sister. That's true but there is a lot more to her than meets the eye. She...more

Last Dragon Standing: Dragon Kin #4
G. A. Aiken
The White Dragon Queen, Rhiannon, requested that DragonLord Ragnar of the Nothlands Hordes bring her son, Eibhear, home for a family feast. Okay it wasn’t really a request, with their alliance an order it was, oh, and along the way he was supposed to pick up her sister, Esyld; the traitorous one hiding from her in the Outlands. Not really having a choice, Ragnar starts the journey with his brother Vigholf and his cousin Meinhard. Along the way they ‘...more

While I'll admit that the other books in the Dragon Kin series are my favs, I enjoyed this one. I love this family. They're so crazy! I love it! The cat fights between the dragon sisters are hilarious! But you know they love each other. They just hate each other too.
While the romantic elements aren't as strong as in the previous books, Keita and Ragnar are fun, well suited for each other and hot! He gets her, where many people, specifically her own family, don't.

Last Dragon Standing is set two years later from where the third book finishes and I would definitely say that you have to read the first three books before starting this one because there are many sub plots and references to the previous books that could easily confuse any reader who has not followed the Dragon Kin story so far.

There were some parts that I really enjoyed and were a 4 star read for me, then there were other parts that were only two stars.
This book was different than the others in form. The main "couple" Keita the Viper and Ragnar from the Lightnings seemed to take a back seat to everything and everyone else. Plus their relationship isn't complete. It wasn't a HEA, it was more a Happy right this second...maybe. Part of me suspected that Keita would be the one to mark Ragnar, but no such luck.

Whose book was it? Don't know but the two characters who might claim it was theirs were actually a side story. Keita and Ragnar are nice addition to the whole book although I'm tiny bit disappointed because haven't felt a tiny spark coming from them. At the beginning I thought it was going to be a typical story: "she's full of life and he has a stick up his (dragon) ass with her seducing him and us reading plenty of steamy sex" but this book made me crave reading more fantasy books. There are no...more
Ehhhhhhhh.
If this had been the first of Aiken's Dragon Kin books, then I wouldn't be going back for more. It's getting 3 stars from me only because I was entertained by all of the side stories that were going on in the background. 'Cause let me tell you, the romance in this was pretty awkward. And the way it ended was really less than romantic. I got the feeling Aiken was just looking for a Filler Couple so she could write about this impending battle that's going to happen in the next novel (I'm...more

The fourth book in G.A. Aiken's wonderful Dragon Kin series and in my opinion, the best yet.
Ostensibly, this is about Keita's and Ragnar's relationship and how it forms and indeed, that's what the first part of the book is about. Typically, as has come to be expected, when the two meet, saying that they don't get on would be something of an understatement.

I absolutely love this series.
Love.
It.
And I really liked LDS, but so far this was my least favorite. Only because I never felt the relationship between Keita and Ragnar solidify. I am the old fashion romantic type. Need that strong character finally crumbling in wake of realize love. Or at least a full out admission. But that's just me. The rest of the story was great.
