This is the book we've been studying in small group. It has a lot of practical advice for young married couples about living in peace with each other. There are plenty of basic conversation starters and exercises designed to draw husbands and wives together. Clearly, for marriage to survive these days, couples must blend their individual personalities and compromise. Chapman points out that arguing is normal, apologizing is healthy and communication is essential.

I really like that Dr. Chapman's books are scripturally based and his theories are comfirmed by years of marriage counseling. I also like that he gives you practical advice on how to apply this stuff in your life. Each chapter of his book is followed by assignments/exercises for you to do that really help you understand and apply the principles he's espousing.
I am a bi fan of Gary Chapman. I think his books are very Biblical and very practical.
This book is not a life changing book like the 5 Love Languages book. But it is a very good book. It has a lot of advice for marriages that is applicable if you are about to get married (even more so) or have been married many many years.

I read this for a book club/MOMs group. What a great, quick read. Gary Chapman (author of Five Love Languages) boiled down 6 areas for growth in a Christian Marriage. He cuts through all the crap and is lovingly direct about Godly ways to have an amazing marriage. Many of these I have already heard (just from other books or marriage conferences), however, I found that his approach really solidified much of the information in my brain.

Great book on Marriage
This book gives an excellent Christian perspective on how to make your marriage better. Dr. Chapman also gives great advice about improving everyday relationships with friends, family, and your spouse. This author provides many scripture references from the bible that clarify how a happy successful marriage should function. I thought his interpretation of those scriptures was very insightful.

Gary Chapman has traveled extensively around the world challenging couples to pursue healthy, growing marriages. His first book, Toward a Growing Marriage (Moody, 1979, 1996), began as an informal resource he gave to couples with whom he was counseling. Once officially published, this book became a blessing to thousands of people and helped launch Gary’s popular “Toward a Growing Marriage” seminar...more
