Hello
This is a very nice book, very funny with lots of nice illustrations.
It is about a naughty hyena who decides to play a trick on a giraffe by placing a banana skin in his path. The giraffe slips on the banana skin and hits his head on a tree, which causes a coconut to fall on the head of a hippo, who then steps on a snake who in turn bites another animal and the sequence goes on.
The hyena in the mean time is having a great laugh. However, he forgets about the banana skin and slips himself, h...more

That’s not funny!
Jeanne Willis and Adrian Reynolds
Good cover, like the title, it’s got funny in it. We all like something to be funny.
I’d guess the setting is the African plains, great drawings, wide variety of characters (different animals) all with their own page so could be used for learning and recognising names of animals. The story seems to be based on those that laugh last laugh longest (loudest), as well as thinking about the consequence of your actions.

When Hyena put a banana peel in Giraffe’s path, he set off a chain of events that he found extremely funny. When Giraffe slips on the banana peel, he knocked into a tree. Which in turn caused a coconut to fall onto Hippo’s head. Hyena kept laughing and laughing, even as Hippo stumbled around very dizzy and stepped on Snake. Snake bit Ostrich, Ostrich kicked Rhino, and it went on and on. Until finally Hyena was laughing so hard that he stepped on his own banana peel, hit the same tree, bonked him...more
The kids in my Silly Saturday storytime enjoyed this book much more than I did. It is cumulative and slapstick. The naughty Hyena plays a trick on Giraffe and then laughs as each of the animals are effected (and each rather negatively). Some kids may laugh along with Hyena, but more will wish ill upon him, and get their wish. Although I wanted Hyena to get his comeuppance as well, 2 wrongs don't make a right. Still, it was a hit, so I may use it again.
Silly story of a naughty hyena, who LOVES to laugh at all the animals when he puts a banana peel on their path to step on. The jokes on him when after a long series of mishaps, Hyena lands in "a huge, steaming heap of Elephant's POO!" Colorful illustrations really bring the African plains to life. Pair this with "Why Do Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears" or any of Eric Kimmel's Anansi books for a fun storytime.
A hyena plays a banana peel joke that starts a chain of events that eventually gives hyena what he deserves for laughing at all the other savanna animals. Children's sense of justice will be satisfied and they'll love the "potty" humor at the end. A great story from the award winning authors of "Who's in the Bathroom."

Hyvä kuvitus, mutta sen tiesi jo tekijöitä vilkaisemalla.
