Winnie Perry is turning ten and ten is BIG: it means double digits, more responsibility, and being an almost-middle-schooler. Ten means that Winnie can handle anything, even a three-year-old baby brother and a practically teenage (and acting like it) older sister. And with her best friend, Amanda, by her side, Winnie plans on enjoying every last second of their last year i...more

Ten is a pre-quill to the whole Winnie series and not my favorite. It was very good but was not as good as the rest. In this one Winnie gets bullied my a girl named Mindy, and learns about going to middle school. Mindy is very mean and everyday she picks a girl to be with her in her "group". One day she picks Chantelle, Winnie and Amanda (Winnie's other best friend) best friend to be in the "group". On the playground Chantelle (Winne's friend) is mean to Winnie with Mindy. The day before Mindy s...more

This was a great book--a light-hearted but realistic look at growing up.

This book is a prequel to Myracle's popular Winnie Perry series that so far has included Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, and Thirteen plus One, and fans of this series will be delighted with this addition.

Winnie is a self-described "unique" girl who finds herself at times unsure whether she should work harder to fit in and be less of a "goofball." Her goofiness adds a lot of humor and I found myself laughing out loud (loudly!) se...more

I really liked Ten. I had already read the other books in the series. So when she came out with Ten it was a little odd because I had already read all the other books. I thought the book showed the realities of being a ten year old. And how people start to change and think about things you may not be interested in yet. The main character Winnie was very outgoing and is a very spunky fun girl. I think as she got older in the book she thought that the she would never adapt to the changes her frien...more

THREE-ish WORDS: Oh My Goodness Gravy!

If you weren’t aware already, Lauren Myracle is one of my top three favorite YA authors of all time…ALL TIME! And her The Winnie Years books were some of the very first of hers that I read, so I was uber excited when I found out there would be a prequel book to the series. Now, Ten has been out for a little over a year and I’m just now getting around to reading it (shocking, I know!), but it was sure worth the wait.

Winnie Perry is turning the BIG 1-0! Double...more

I loved this book. Lauren Myracle is my absolute favorite author and this book comes highly recommended, by me. This is the prequel to Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen and Thirteen Plus One. I recommend that you read this book last. I know that sounds strange, but things actually fall into place better if you save this one for last.
In this book, Winnie Perry turns ten and enters the land of double digits. She has a crazy best friend, Amanda, but Amanda is moving a little too fast for Winnie. Amanda wan...more

This is a great book for girls in the 8-12 range! Winnie faces some very common challenges with humor and joy. She wonders whether to be herself or try harder to fit in. The girls around her are interested in boys, and she's not. There's a very mean girl in her class. Her older sister is sometimes one of her best friends and sometimes too busy for her. There are other books that provide a sense of how truly awful ad difficult all those things can be; this book reminds us how fleeting and easily...more

This book is about what happens on her birthday, and what happens in that year. Winnie, (ten year old, main character) is ten this year!
In March, 11th to be precise, that is her birthday, (along with my sisters, seriously) and her mom tells her it is hard growing up, she just tells her mom she'll be fine and writes a note to prove it.
In April, Winnie is talking about how she wished Amanda, her BFF's, mom was hers. Which makes Winnie's mom jealous. Sandra, Winnie's older sister, keeps bringing...more

Winnie Perry is a really cute character. I think in some ways she seemed a little too good to be true: she's very funny but her speech and vocabulary have a sophistication that ten-year-olds don't usually have, and she's a little too wise and perceptive about things like understanding the emotions behind what people say and do. She won me over, though, by the end. I laughed out loud at least a few times, and I'm glad I already have Eleven checked out because I'm going to want to read it.

I can't bear to read the ending of "The Fault in Our Stars" anywhere but in the privacy of my own home in case I break down, so I've started this one at work today.

I LOVED the rest of this series about Winnie, so was excited to find that Myracle had written a prequel about Winnie when she's 10. However I was disappointed with this one... Winnie was less sympathetic and more obnoxious in this book, and I didn't like her nearly as much. I kept reading hoping it would get better, and it did a bit,...more

This book was soo good! I loved Winnie and Amanda. The book is about Winnifred Perry who turns 10 on March 11, and it is definetly a beautiful work of Realistic Fiction. All of the chapters are based in the months of the age(s) that Winnie turns. Winnie gets stuck in pretty hilarious (and sometimes serious) situations. I definetly reccomend it, but sometimes when I read this book I kinda had a hard time with what was going on. On one page, there was not much going on. On the other, too much was...more

I was happy to see that there was a prequel to Lauren Myracle's Winnie series. I really enjoyed reading them and it was neat to get a look in on Winnie at 10 years old. The other books I felt I didn't have much if any a connection to, but this one struck home. I admit I wasn't so much of a Winnie in my past but a Dinah. Loved the book, finished it in less than a day. If there are other Winnie books planning to be outed in the future, count me in.

Absolutely LOVED this prequel to ELEVEN

Winnie Perry is an adorable female literary heroine; in the book, she hits double digits. With that comes the responsibilities of being ten: friends, boys, and mean girls. Winnie deals with them all in her own way, which is why I love her character.

With a cast of great supporting characters, Myracle creates another winner with this novel.

You don't have to have read the other books in The Winnie Years series to enjoy this prequel, but fans of the series will especially love this book. As with the other books, this story is all about growing up. Winnie is thrilled to be turning ten, but has some reservations and fears ... I've enjoyed reading Lauren Myracle's other books in the Winnie Years series. Started reading them several summers ago, and they're just fun. Pre-ordered this book and it came in May, but I just started reading it yesterday. This is the first time I've been able to read since Henry was born last October, and I'm so happy to have finished a book! Fun read :)

This is the prequel to Myracle's Eleven, which has been highly recommended to me by several regular patrons and their parents. I decided to read this one first since it had just come out, but found it to be a little disappointing. I just didn't love it, but I do think that 3rd graders on up who like realistic fiction will enjoy the series.

Winnie is ten! She is a unique, funny, awesome character. Her BFF is Amanda. Winnie has an older sister Sandra(13) and a younger brother Ty(3). Winnie and Amanda have a second BF Chantelle. Even tho it's not October, Winnie has a Halloween birthday party. She is forced to invite a girl named Dinah. Winnie has some interesting adventures.

I was kind of confused on why this book didn't come out before Eleven, because then it would've made more sense but other than that confusion, the book was awesome. I loved learning about Winnie's past friendships other than her and Cinnamon's or the other girl. (Haven't read this series in years) Nice touch, Lauren. I love your books!

An excellent, quick read! Lauren Myracle does a great job at spinning an engrossing tale of the day to day life of a ten-year-old. Filled with lots of humor and relatability I would definitely recommend this book both for girls and their mothers who want to laugh out loud as they see themselves both in Winnie and her mom.

I really liked Eleven to Fourteen. They were a realistic interpretation of what it's like growing up.

I found that Ten really didn't fit in as well as the others did. I suppose it is because it was written after Eleven, and what not. I still found the book amusing, and paid homage to what it is like to be a ten year old.

This is a really, super great book! Winnie Perry is a really different person, and I am too, so I can totally relate to her avant-garde personality! I'm only ten, and this book stars ten year old Winnie, so it really is a great book for all y'all fifth graders like moi!

Since you enjoy books by Wendy Mass, give Colorado author Lauren Myracle a try. Her Winnie Perry series features likeable characters dealing with all of life's issues and are encased with a bit of humor. This is the first book in the series.

Tyhle knížky jsem dostávala od jedné babičky k narozeninám, svátkům... a když jsem viděla v knihovně Desítku, říkala jsem si, proč tu sérii nedočíst, žejo. :D

I think my 5th grade girls will enjoy this series. Seems to be a fairly accurate account of what 10 year old girls think and wonder about.
Julie
A cute story of a quirky girl dealing with first year middle school. I like that she has a strong sense of self.

This was a great book! I love Winnie, her spunk, her courage, and her heart. Even her weirdness! She has inspired me to be myself no matter what. In fact, I feel as if I have grown up right alongside Winnie. I would strongly recommend this book, as well as the rest of the series.
Ally
Cute and endearing. Reminds me of reading the Ramona books I loved as a kid. I will definitely read the whole series and pass on to my 9 year old daughter.

I adore all the Winnie Years books and I absolutely can't wait to read this prequel and see Winnie much younger!

“If she did see, I hoped she' be amazed. Amazed and thankful, because without even asking, she'd received a genuine autograph from a genuine girl from Atlanta. Not just any girl, but a girl who was, frankly, a pretty big deal. A girl who was me.” 6 people liked it
