Searching desperately for a fall play to direct, I was handed this brilliant bit of writing, and fell hard and fast.
It's like when you first see a television show that immediatly hooks you. Taut, concise writing that holds you in the moment and a twisting plot line that leaves you guessing until the very end.

plays-
This was one of my favourite plays we studied at school, perhaps because we read it on a day in English when we had nothing else to do and it was just for fun. It is spooky, well thought out piece that makes you really think about your actions.
One family is visited by an inspector who asks them about a young lady who had died. Each member of the family has had some contact with her, and each in some way has contributed to her downfall.
I would love to see this one on stage.

Should be done far more often and taken to heart! Beautifully crafted to expose the little, selfish ways we slowly destroy those we deem "beneath us." The end lacks some bite and closure that keeps me from giving it 5 stars, but still a worthwhile read or night at the theatre.

another possibilty for next year, fascinating writing and a very hard play to stage without being boring.

Even if he was just used as a plot device, I found the inspector a really smug bum.

Hm, I don't remember much of it. I think it was just so-so.
