While this is technically not a manga, it's style is very like a manga book. Mark Crilley is an award winning author / artist who has also created the Akiko series and Miki Falls. I must admit I never read Akiko, but I did read the Miki Falls series. There were four volumes in the series, one after each season. It was quite a good series.

But that is not what I am reviewing today. Brody's Ghost is an entertaining series. I read Book 2, but Book 3 just came out on May 1, 2012. I do believe I menti...more

Brody's Ghost is a graphic novel series centered around a sad man named Brody who finds out he can see ghosts (hence the title...). After a bad breakup with his girlfriend, Nicole, he lets his life get into ruin, until one day, while he is on the sidewalk busking for change, he sees a ghost. Later on, he finds out the ghost is named Talia, and she has a mission for him. She introduces him to an unusual mentor that helps him get his life back into shape and gives him purpose in the world.

This series is a combination of self discovery and murder mystery all rolled up into one powerful punch.

Book two in Mark Crilley’s Brody’s Ghost series takes readers and Brody one step deeper on his path to finding himself and the Penny Murderer. A story about finding focus in life and yourself. Strength of conviction, heart, mind, and body rule the pages and Brody’s transformation.

Speaking of transformations--Brody transformed into quite a comic book fox! Hello, gorgeous! :) haha…Just saying. H...more

Volume 2 continues where the first book left off, but you can also start with this one as there is a very thorough one page summary of "the story so far..." I'm beginning to really enjoy the dark, yet bold illustrations, and it's a very interesting story. I'm looking forward to reading volume 3 of this story - whenever it gets published.

I loved this its just they have these in the wrong order this is the first book in the series if not then my book has a one printed on it instead of a too but from the description of the supposibaly first one it seams like that one should be the second one cause its talking about how he met her and what he has to do

Although Crilley's expressions need more variety, overall this was a much better volume than the first one. The artwork and pacing felt more consistent. In fact, there were very strong sequences in the gang fight, and the date at the end was a highlight for me. This story is shaping up nicely.

Continues the story of Brody as he trains in the martial and supernatural arts with the samurai ghost Kagemura, and other ghosts. He learns how to sense a "death echo" from an object used by a dead person at the time of their death. Ends on cliffhanger!
Stacey
The story seems to have taken a turn to the left here, as we veered away from Talia's plot and moved into Brody's training. Much slower plot than the first, but good cliff-hanger at the end.

Getting more into the story & the reveal at the end was good! Stinks that I have to wait 4 months to read the next volume though!
Michele
While visually interesting, the story is still rather loose.
Bob
between Miki and Brody, I am loving Crilley these days.
Maja Knutson
like his artwork and story is unique!
Aaron
More action than the first. Liked it.

Living One...his power is purity against an impure civilization...I see what you're doing there.

I wish these came out in quicker succession...maybe I should just wait to read them all together.
