This is a wonderful book in the series "Understanding the Elements of the Periodic Table", written with young people in mind. The series itself seems a mixed bag; some books good, some not so good. I expected this book to be not so good; how interesting can a book on an inert gas be? In fact, this book quoted the chemist's old joke that if anyone wrote a book on the chemical properties of inert gases it would be filled with empty pages!
