I'm gonna take the first step to understand the laws of the land. Mabey if more people read and studied this book, we would not have the shit-hole government that we do.

WOW! What a piece of work. Twists, turns, cliffhangers! This will really leave the Nation on the edge of it's seat.

This is the first time that I've read the Constitution simply because I wanted to read it, and it sure won't be the last. Every citizen of the United States should study this brilliant document closely, because if we don't know and understand it, the rights that it guarantees us will be taken from us. I think most people have a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose of this document. It was designed, not to give the government power, but to restrict the government's power. To give a lim...more

I just wish more Americans knew what this said, and did more to make sure our country was sticking to it. I think it's "handing by a thread" right now.
I'd recommend it for any American, or non-American

I read this recently after listening to an episode of "This American Life" on the separation of church and state. I remember this seemed really dull in 5th grade social studies class, but it seemed amazing now. Perhaps the last 6 years of politics in this country have made me pessimistic, so reading the founding ideals of this country were not only refreshing, but inspiring. Yes, I'm a nerd.

The older I get, the more amazing this "experiment" (as the founding fathers called it) of democracy is to me. To think, this form of government was established such a short time ago. How many people lived and were governed before democracy was even practiced? And what an impact the creation of our nation has had on our lives and the world... this is truly an amazing document.

If you have not read this, you should not be a voting in the U.S. People in this country really don't have any place commenting on politics if they haven't read this and know what it means. It's really sad that this document is largelly swept under the rug in today's America. We continue to do so at our childrens' peril.
So get involved and read this masterpiece.

The Great American experiment.
There is a 200 sq. mile area in Virginia that produced some of the smartest and wisest men the world has ever seen. That a nation could be formed base solely on the idea of Liberty. An idea!
I literally thank God every day that my parents came to this country. Oh yeah - I'm glad they gave birth to me here too!

THE greatest political document ever constructed. It's pretty clear...odd how often the Oval Office (and Congress too from time to time) seems to misinterpret just where the power of the government is supposed to rest. (Psst: In the hands of the people which is entrusted in part to their elected representatives.)

This was an interesting read and great glimpse into many historical moments in US history. While sounding a bit like a legal contract - I suppose it is in a way - it was good to finally understand why people "plead the 5th" or hold fast to the 1st and 2nd amendments.
A must read. When I started law school, I was very surprised to learn how few of my colleagues had actually read the Constitution. More startling, I am continually amazed at what people often believe is in the Constitution.

Just doing my civic duty. I sure wish people would read this thing more often. Especially those who are religious fundamentalists in the deep south. I'm pretty sure I read something about a separation of church and state in here.

Extremely antiquated and obfuscated. Predictable ending and almost always misinterrupted. I'm hoping the 2nd edition is revised to make it more realitive and useful to the people it was supposably written for.

Everyone should read the Constitution religiously. I don't think I would change anything, but there are definitely some items I might add...

This is an inspired document. I read it long enough ago to have needed a good refresher. I love our constitution!
One of the simplest most inspiring and important documents I've ever read. Can be read in 10 - 30 minutes.

So simple, and yet so profound. And so ignored. We need to get to know this document better.
