I get the impression I would probably have understood this better if I'd read Kant's other book "The Groundwork For The Metaphysical Elements of Ethics" - which I've only just discovered to exist now that I've finished this one.
If one is interested in deontology this is an interesting book to use to help wrap one's mind around some of the ideas involved. It's a bit difficult to penetrate which is why I gave it 3 stars but if your patient you will be rewarded with some interesting ideas.
