"All things happen in fives, or are divisible by or are multiples of five, or are somehow directly or indirectly appropriate to five." Principia Discordia, p. 16
When I was five I won a toy car at a carnival. The car had the number 23 painted on the side. The numbers of my birth year add up to twenty. I was born in the fifth month of the year. It's 5:13 as I'm typing this. Coincidence? No, my fine friend, I think not.

This is a VERY random book. It is in it's 5th printing, and a lot of it has been aggregated into the current tome. Not an easy read, as it does tend to be chaotic (which is in the nature of the beast described), but not the best thing to try to extract information from.

the reason i love this book can be summed up in one commandment of discordia-"all discordians are forbidden from believing anything they read."i think that says it all, dont you agree rachel miller?

Hail Eris! All Hail Discordia!
Hmm, things I learned from this book... The Law of Fives, that one should not partake of hot dog buns for Such was the Solace of Our Goddess when She was Confronted with The Original Snub, that the Old Greeks are not to be trusted with historic matters for they were victims of indigestions, that I was born on Prickle-Prickle, Discord 1, Year of Our Lady of Discord 3147, and the usage of one's pineal gland.

I don't know why I randomly decided one day to order this and read it, but I did, and I'm glad. I like weird religion parodies, and this is at least as confusing and purposely contradictory as the Bible. I always liked the SubGenius stuff so I figured this was just a step away. Hail Eris!

it is difficult for me to rate this "book." it is like asking a christian to rate the bible. but it actually isn't. like the Necronomicon, this book is also true. if you do not believe then you are certainly one of Gruad's ophidian henchmen and should be fed to Leviathan post-haste.

sleezy guys with ponytails
An interesting breakdown of chaos magick. Reads like crazy person ranting on the street and a sleezy guy with a greasy ponytail, wearing a black velour button-up trying to get you to participate in his Sunday night basement ritual under the pretext of "building cones of power".

This book is amazing. a-ma-zing. Read it, love it, don't take it too seriously. Unless you are Andrew Buck. If you are Andrew Buck, you may base everything you will ever need to know around it. I totally owe you a new copy of this book, don't I?

The beautiful stream-of-consciousness invention of a religion that straddles the line between pure humor and pure art. It exists in it's own little moment, free from the baggage of other, more convoluted artistic movements.

Hilarious. If you are religious, please read this book and get over yourself. If you're not religious, you'll appreciate the points it makes through satire and sarcasm. You can find it on the Internet for free.

There is so much to this book that my first instinct upon finishing was to immediately start it again. Truly a tome that deserves a place of honor in any philosopher's library, or at least bathroom. Hail Eris!

Excellent exposition on the Discordian philosophy.
Note: this wasn't written by Pope Wilson, it was written by Malaclypse the Younger (Greg Hill) and Lord Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst (Kerry Thornley). Most likely.

Gateway drug to the bizarre world of absurdist fringe culture. Parody at its fineset. Too bad most modern day discordians are fluffy bunnies. ;)
