I enjoyed the setting of the Vampire Mountain and the expansion on the vampire lore. It's an interesting and original world, and I'm looking forward to learning more about it.

The books are getting more engrossing with each installment. I love that the author doesn't ape other vampire tales but takes the time to craft a fresh one that's all his own...the author has a rich imagination! :))

Now, what I'm not so crazy about:

1. The extensive number of fight scenes. *yawn* They

Good read but frustrating ending…

So great story, the plot is building, it’s really starting to get good and then, TO BE CONTINUED…

Really? The book is only 212 pages long! I get that the author is writing these for a young audience but we can sit and read a book that’s longer than 200 pages. The Harry Potter series should have proven that. If you’re going to publish a book then make it a complete story for crying out loud. Right now I just feel cheated. If the rest of the series ends up being

This marks the fourth book I've read in the Cirque Du Freak series, and I keep expecting to be disappointed, waiting for the magic to run out. Thankfully, the series is still strong and still gripping.

One of the things I like best about the Cirque Du Freak series is that the protagonist, Darren Shan (yes, also the author's name...which I thought was a pretty hilarious thing to do, thought I bet his intention was to make it more 'real' for the young adult audience), never has an easy time. Consi

This is the fourth book in the Cirque Du Freak series. In this series Darren Shan assumes the role of a half vampire and travels with Mr Crepsley as he learns more about his new powers of a vampire and he adapts to the standards and needs of a new vampire life. In this book, Darren has to travel to vampire mountain, the journey can take months and they are forced to travel on bare feet. On the way to the mountain with Mr Crepsley, they met Gavner Purl, a Vampire General who was following Mr Crep ...more

I have to say, I didn't enjoy this book as much as i hoped to. I thought it was kind of boring. Like, at some points it could be really interesting but other parts just kind of fell flat. I also think that the first half was a lot better than the second.
In this book a lot of the adults really bugged me. I feel like they thought that just because Darren Was a kid, that meant he wasn't strong or smart. Like, he can do a lot more than what these people give him credit for. I mean, he did make it al

This book is the third book to this series and it is about how Darren, Mr.Crepsley, and Gavner Purl set of on an incredible journey to Vampire Mountain for the council to get Darren actually approved to be a half vampire. On the journey they bring two little people because of Mr. Tiny's orders, and meet some incredible wolves on the way.

I personally thought this book was okay (especially not as good as the other ones) because the journey was way to long and the journey after a while got realy i

The Vampire Mountain is a great book, it included the topics adventure, trust, and friendship. It all started with the idea of the character Darren Shan caring too much about his friendship that he could die to do anything for it. This affected him by the way that his best friend can only be rescued by a vampire, but the request from him was to turn Darren into a vampire too. So now Darren Shan has to live a life as a half vampire leaving his family members, friends all behind to start a new lif ...more

There is a time jump between the end of the last book and this one, jumping us forward to the next set of important events in Darren’s vampire life.

We’re once again introduced to a new set of characters, all of which you come to love. We’re also given more information about the vampire world, learning even more than we have been given in the last three books. It is here that we really start to see other vampires, coming to understand their lifestyles. Another great book in the series!

I think Cirque Du Freak Vampire Mountain was a great book. The book was full of great moments. The Vampaneze make a comeback and it is the main issue in the book. Mr. Crepsley and Darren decide to go to Vampire Mountain for the meeting of the counsel because it only happens every 8 years. It is a terribly hard journey and Mr. Tiny forces them to take two little people along with them. On their way they stop and find a dead vampire. They think he was ambushed by a animal and move on. They then sm ...more

I AM LITERALLY SHAKING RIGHT NOW. THAT ENDING OH GOD WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO DARREN UGH I HAVE A LOVE/HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH THESE BOOKS.

This book is way darker than the other ones. We're introduced to a whole new aspect of the vampire world and how the vampire politics works. I absolutely loved the dark tone in this book and I can't wait to read the next 8 books asdjsdgfsdjgjdsfs!

The book overall was good and it introduced some new characters and a new setting. However, it did use the same formula as the old books but still did change enough things to keep the story interesting and fun to read. The story moves on from the old circus that the main character used to live in and brings the story to a more vampire exclusive place, Vampire Mountain. However, before he goes there he meets a Little Person which follows him to Vampire Mountain to deliver a secret message for the ...more

I was not ready for the time jump in this one. Six years have passed since the third book.
This book was good, do not get me wrong, but it was a filler book. There wasn't anything really happening. It was tense at some points and the ending was suspenseful but as a whole this book was very monotoned in action.

This series is really picking up now, I am loving it! This was a very descriptive book, not much action went on, but the author just brought new characters in instead. We really got to know a lot about the way vampires live, which was great. I am starting to get really excited about this series now, the characters are just so flipping awesome, they are so thrilling and Darren is one of the most amazing main characters ever. He is so caring and thoughtful, I really like him. Can't wait to see him ...more

After flying through the first three books, which were addicting, I had a couple others purchased, but not this one. Since it’s inconceivable to read a series like this out of order, I waited awhile until I could own all to continue it. They’re really that addicting.

Unfortunately this fourth was a small dive down. I’m crushed at first that after taking a break from the series, when I come back they’re immediately leaving the freak show and finding new paths. Change is inevitable, but I’d associa

About the Book:
Six years later (eight years since the initial change), we return to Darren Shan's adventure. This time Crepsley plans on bringing Darren before the Council to see what verdict will be placed due to a child being blooded. Before that though, they have to worry about making their way up the snowy mountain with no help but their own skin (and barefoot). Along the way will prove dangerous, of course, as they run into rabid bears, wolves, and even vampenze!

Cirque Du Freak, Vampire Mountain by Darren was not enjoyable as i thought it would be. Overall it's a fantastic book to read but it was not like the other series. I would have to say that this was not my favorite book out of the series because the whole book was Darren, Mr. Crepsley, and Gavner trying to reach Vampire Mountain. There was some interesting parts like a vampaneze was lurking around the area and they meet a pack of wolves. Even though this was not my favorite out of the series I wo ...more

Vampire Mountain by Darren Shan is a really good book. I know I say that about every book but each book has something interestingly unique which makes it good. Well this book in the series gives us an insight more about the vampire council, or vampires in general. They talk about their ways, and teach Darren more about "his kind." In conclusion I really enjoy this book, and recommend it to anyone if you haven't already read this book, or series in general.

Darren Shan wanted to go the the vampire mountain and prove to the vampire princes that blooding him wasn't a mistake. But on his journey to vampire mountain him and his mentor Mr. Crepsley had to face many challenges such as walking barefoot and fighting a bear, so on there way to the vampire mountain they nearly get killed. Then they realize that vampaneze are also on there way to vampire mountain. This is a story of determination, courage, and persistence.

Vampire Mountain is a lighting fast read. Since I have a great love for wolves, I enjoyed them accompanying Darren during his adventures in the beginning of the book. Once Darren and company arrive at Vampire Mountain, we are introduced to many different vampires and learn about their traditions. But even more interesting than any vampire story is the story of Harkat Mulds ("Lefty" of the Little People).

It's quite enjoying reading about vampires who are stubborn and wild, and not so broodingly h

What did I think? Eh. This book was really nothing more than setting up the fifth book in the series. There wasn't a lot of action in the novel. Furthermore, just when I thought the writing couldn't get worse, it did. Ultimately, books 1 & 2 as well as 4 & 5 could have been combined into one book, making the series two books shorter. I feel like the publishers are doing nothing more than splitting the storyline into more books in order to make more money. The upside - my non-readers will ...more

I should not have made the mistake of choosing a favourite, like I did with Tunnels of Blood, especially since I was only 3 books into the series. I also should have known that the series would only get better, as it has. Vampire Mountain is superb. A perfect blend of story development, character development and a definite darkening of tone.
