I will always remember the wintery day I discovered this amazing book at a private book store on my way to Florida. This is the fourth book of the Cirque Du Freak saga, the first book of the saga I read and my first Young Adult book.

Cirque Du Freak, Vampire Mountain by Darren was not enjoyable as i thought it would be. Overall it's a fantastic book to read but it was not like the other series. I would have to say that this was not my favorite book out of the series because the whole book was Darren, Mr. Crepsley, and Gavner trying to reach Vampire Mountain. The book I read was vampire mountian but only its in the graphic novel version. This boy name Darren Shan who is now a half Vampire after the full vampire Larten blooded him. I have to say, I didn't enjoy this book as much as i hoped to. I thought it was kind of boring. Like, at some points it could be really interesting but other parts just kind of fell flat. I also think that the first half was a lot better than the second.

This marks the fourth book I've read in the Cirque Du Freak series, and I keep expecting to be disappointed, waiting for the magic to run out. Thankfully, the series is still strong and still gripping.

So when I first read the book, I got a big shock. I mean, all of a sudden, 6 years passed since the previous book. It was a little confusing at the beginning! Heh, but after I got past my initial shock, I realised that now Darren should have a mind of a 18-19 year old guy, because in total, 8 years passed! This book is surprisingly different than the previous books: previous books in the series can stand alone. If someone grabbed the third book, without reading the previous two, they would not have a problem following along with the plot. However, “Vampire Mountain” is not a book that can just stand alone in the series; it needs to be followed up with “Trials of Death.” I like that the books are beginning to connect and hopefully the series will continue to mature.

Darren has not only grown on me, he's grown in the series and this 4th installment has been quite enjoyable to read.

The icy snow made my feat num. It didn't hurt though, actually I couldn't feel the coldness in my feet cause of the warm blood we vampires get after out transformation, but my feet it self sure felt it. Traveling to vampire mountain was almost like a special test to me. We weren't aloud to use any of our abilities to help us on the adventure. We had to sleep in special underground tunnels made just for us since we couldn't fleet to vampire mountain. Mr Cremsley seem...more

Darren is an trust worthy boy in the book vampire mountain. He shows leadership in the book, but he puts a good friend an sticky situation. when I was reading this book I started to think about how darren's thoughts about what evil is change. At first when he just turns into a vampire he thinks evil is when you hurt someone else (doesn't include animals) your evil ex a vampire taking a little blood. at the end of the second book when darren drinks sam's blood he accepts that drinking a small amount of blood isn't evil. it makes me think about how are thoughts on something change as we age and mature. for example wine and beer. ...more
