I have read some of the bone books in the past but my favorite one has been the fifth bone book. It is called Roque Jaw Master of the Easter Border. This book follows Fone Bone and Smiley Bone as they try to return Bartleby (the baby rat creature they found) to the mountains with the other rat creatures. Along the way they meet Roque Jaw who is a huge mountain lion that captures the three of them. This is because he believes that their cousin Phoney Bone has the power to unite the valley. ...more

The name of the book I read is Rock Jaw Master of the Eastern Border, written by Jeff Smith. This book is the fifth book in the Bone series. This is a graphic novel and takes place in a fictitious land. This series of novels is about a land filled with dragons people called bones, and lastly these strange evil rat creatures. In the story Fone bone, the main character, finds himself along with his cousin and a baby rat creature in the land belonging to a large mountain lion named Roque Ja. This l...more

So far this has been my favorite of the Bone books. I enjoyed the first four in the series and gave them each four stars. But in this book the story really takes off. Maybe it's just that so much ground work has been laid out, that Smith was able to narrow in on one aspect of the epic and with that focus he highlighted some important values and ethical issues.

I just found out that I am a huge fan of Rock Jaw! He is the greatest mountain lion the world will ever see. He is a giant creature, master of the Eastern Border. He does hold some surprises though. I hope that anyone who likes BONE will look twice at this book.

You don't have to like comics to like this series! If you like humor, if you like fantasy, if you like adventure, if you like surprising plot twists, you should read it. I can't say the Bone series is like anything else, because it's not. Just read it!

BONE keeps getting better. Even lacking some of its usually-more-interesting characters (Phoney, Lucius, and Grandma in particular) this makes for an entertaining adventure story. Plus, what are you gonna do, stop after Book 4?

Probably the least progressive to the entire Bone storyline so far, but it has some of the funniest lines/moments out of any of the books. I had a big dumb grin on my face the entire time I read this.

Even though I haven't read the first Bone books, I could still follow the story easily. Smith's art has a wonderful flow to it and his storytelling abilities are first-rate.

The "Bone" saga continues with this entertaining installment. The Rat Creatures are especially great in this one ("Stupid, stupid Rat Creatures!").

This is the 2nd best book of the Bone series I think. You have to read the other books first. Their is another book coming out soon.

This is the "Bowling for Orphans" volume of Bone. So many talking baby animals! Also, the poignant departure of Bartleby...
