Bone: Old Man’s Cave is the sixth of the Bone series. These graphic novels tell the story of three bones, who wander into a valley and they learn that conflict is about to erupt, and Phoney is going to be in the center of it. As the villagers of Barrelhaven flee to Old Man’s cave, the fortress of the Veni-Yan warriors, Fone Bone and Smiley find themselves surrounded by rat creatures bent on killing them. Phew! Talk about an action packed segment! This one answered so many questions that have been building up and brought up so many more that are are going to tickle my brain in a torturous "older sister when mother isn't around" fashion. I wish Scholastic hadn't done such an amazing job with these color editions (thank you DS!). Though I want to rush to the end so badly, it's impossible for me to imagine reading the rest of this story in the original B&W version. I shall wait...I sha

I wish I hadn't read Rose before starting the Bone series, as I feel that some of the fun mystery has been removed... I've known since the beginning who Gran'ma Ben is and who Lucius is to her and had a pretty good guess about who the Hooded One was. Still, the zombie-esque reveal of Briar was pretty creepy. From an art standpoint, I really like the cave drawing version of Mim's story.

I enjoy the Bone series and like to speak with my kids about the series. Jeff Smith's illustrations are great with facial expressions adding much enjoyment (although this wasn't his best for the images imo). The plot here continues to grow, but most of my enjoyment involves the comical behavior of the bone characters.
Quick read with this being only a 118 page graphic novel.

You don't have to like comics to like this series! If you like humor, if you like fantasy, if you like adventure, if you like surprising plot twists, you should read it. I can't say the Bone series is like anything else, because it's not. Just read it!

Oops, I reviewed Book 7 before Book 6! Hah, hah. Well, one is as good as the next. The storytelling is solid, the humor is golden, the artwork is impeccable. Get into it.
