Ghetto is probably an understatement! I almost put this book down because of the author's spelling, grammar, and redundant use of the same phrases repeatedly. It usually is not too bothersome when the character's dialogue is in Ebonics but it really gets under my skin when the naration is as well! Once I decided to just deal with it and got into this novel, I couldn't put it down! I am actually quite pleased with this ghetto fabulous novel. I am so very happy that I didn't stop reading it like I ...more

Okay, so I know I'm late in all.
I have read "Im still wifey", but never got the chance to read part one.
Well, now I finally found it in the store and is currently reading it.
Then next I'll go after the rest of the series because if you don't know by now Kiki Swinson is SHIT! and is one of my favorite Authors.

Anywho, the book is so far good of course and is letting me know everything that lead to part two which I read! Loving it, KiKi Swinson never lets me down!

At times Kira was just too perfect and it was hard to believe. I didn't like all the label names that kept being dropped, especially because I couldn't imagine a millionaire wearing these normal brands. Anyway the story line between her and Ricky was the basic hood novel storyline. What kept my attention was the Nicky storyline, I wanted to know how it would turn out. Its an okay book. If you catch it on sale pick it up, if not don't waste your time. PS I read the preview of the other following ...more
This is a fast read, and you want to ask yourself, why does Kira tolerate Ricky, who is a drug dealer in the D.C. area? Ricky moved his drug operation to the Virginia Beach/Norfolk location. Some women will settle for the high-class, luxury life with the finer things as they would call it, but not focusing on the risks that take place. When her cousin, Nikki, college girl, gets busted and on lock-down for Ricky's right hand man, Brian (who does not give a crap about her), she realizes this game ...more

1. 3-5 sentence summary
-Threw the struggles of being in love with a Drug dealer, she learned to adjust and cope. with the feds always on her tail trying to find dirt on her unfaithful husband Ricky, manipulating and antagonizing anyone who has ever spoken to Ricky as he "runs the streets". There are times when Kira wants to just walk out but she loves him so she stays and puts up with it all.
2. Reason for number of stars given to each book

This is the first book in the Wifey Series. Kira is the wife of a big time hustler named Ricky. She is getting tired of his lifestyle in the streets and running around with different females. After her cousin gets locked up for running Ricky's dope, Kira decides she is fed up and makes some huge decisions that will affect her life as she now knows it.

This book catches you from the beginning and has you wanting to find out what happens next.. It is a fast and easy read and has pretty decent editi
This book was just not good. I know it was written a while ago and KiKi's writing has improved tremendously since then but this storyline was just so bland. I love a good street book, but this one just failed to deliver. The foundation was there to go into detail about Ricky's drug business but it was just never done. All we got was Ricky was going to take care of business over and over again and really no details of what he was doing. The fights Kira kept starting with him about his cheating go ...more

If you're into that ghetto urban style of writing, than this is the book for you. It portrayed all the everyday goings ons of a usual urban neighborhood. I liked it a lot and look forward to moving on to the next book.

i have read previous books by this author. I started reading this book, and so far it is really interesting. its about a girl who is dating a guy. she really likes this guy. she is what we young teenagers now a days called sprung over him. she does anything thing he tells her to do. she may not want to do it, but she still does it because she feel like she has to because she is in love. right now they are having problems, and i think that they are about to break up. based on the title i think th ...more

Hands Down KiKi Swinson this is an EXCELLENT read. Wifey took hood books to a whole nother level. Definitely a page turner I think I read this book in like 4 hours. Her and Ricky is something else. Even though she was livin good she still wasnt happy I think she just loved Ricky hands down. Kira was definitely a ride or die chick but Family is family and Nikki was her cousin plus Ricky was just not caring about her I cant believe how nonchalant he was about having them boys scope out Kira's Salo ...more

I love this book I couldn't put it down.It had so much drama and you will have mixed emotionals out the entire book. Then when you get towards the end it leaves you hangin and I was wondering what going to happen next.I really loved this book and the other two that foillowed after it.I hink this book really open up the eyes of young woman today who was in the same situation as the character kira in this book.I learned alot from this book and I hoped the author comes out with another sucessful sto ...more
This book was actually pretty entertaining. it's a life I don't know about, which is always something good to read about. Let's you get a perspective about life and what other people go through and how they live. But I just really didn't like how the book abruptly ended. It could have used a good 5 extra pages to explain in detail everything that happened from the hotel room. but overall it was a good read.

I thought that it was really good and interesting. I really didn't like the way Ricky treated Kira. He basically acted like she didn't even exist. To me I thought that he was just using her to be honest. When Kira finally got the strength to end things with him I was proud of her. When Kira met Russ I thought he was a good man until he robbed her. That right there wasn't even right. Overall the book was really good
Belle Of
this book was really good my jaw droppped at the ending when we find out that russel played her and took her money the sad part is that she was left pregnant and he left her broke even though he seemed like he loved her to death he played her and that teaches us not to trust a man completely cause in the end they can just be playing with our heads
Shakeisha Williams
I enjoyed this book, but was like waaaatever to Kira and her tears over Rickys bs all the way through, because Kira was on some shiesty stuff... even though her hubby was doing his thang... for both of them KARMA showed out! She should have known that the grass was NOT greener on the other side... gotta read the next book soon.
I gave this book 3 stars because it only had a few twist but it did keep my interest and I can't wait to read the next wifey book in the series but damn I couldn't believe that Kira did that to Ricky even though he was a dog but believe me she did receive some bad karma for that shit she pulled
This was a pretty good book. The storyline had me wanting to continue to read it. I'll be honest, I had to put it down a few times because I got mad at what was happening to the characters Nikki and Kira. I don't know if I'll continue to read this series. It was a bit grimey for me.
Carolyn Li'jay
overall the book was decent i was very disappointed that russ wasnt the man for her he seemed to be a cool dude i wish she would have gotten more into detail about ricky and his ghetto baby mammas but like sad it was decent allot of sugar coating going on not enough grime
I picked this up because my students love this author. Potentially good story line. Unrealistic sexual content. Not so great writing. Wish an urban writer could come up with a better, more realistic story line with better writing in general. She’s getting close.

This book introduced me to the character, Kira, owner of a successful hair salon and the wife of a wealthy yet feared drug kingpin. The story was very interesting. Although, I did not particularly enjoy the ending, this book was a page-turner and a must read.

at first it took me a minute to get into the book, but once I did, it was awesome, it didn't turn out at all as to what I was expecting, I have the rest of the series in paperback, can't wait to dive into them :)

I love this book so much. It's about things that can happen in real life.
When I was reading I felt like I was in the book! Pleez write more books.I'm almost finished with the entire series.congrats to Kiki Swinson. our books rock!
I really enjoyed this book. This book teaches a very valuable lesson about Karma. This book was about a money hungry wife of a very wealthy drug dealer, who betrayed him and she was in turn betrayed.
I'm not a big fan of urban novels. This book was very entertaining. It was written very simply. The novel was a very "deep" novel. I would say it was very shallow. Overall, I enjoyed this easy to ready book.
