This is a self-help book, but it truly teaches you how to be in a perpetual positive mode. It teaches you how to not sweat the little things in life. These are my favorite quotes from this book:

"Transformation means radical change of form, the way a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. In human terms, it means turning fear, aggression, doubt, insecurity, hatred, and emptiness into their opposites".

"Your purpose in life is to help creation to expand and grow". ...more

Even though this comes from the realm of Hindu Mysticism, it defies denomination. This is a book on spirituality without invoking a specific religious tradition. It is highly influenced by Hindu Mystic thought, however. The book is divided into 15 "secrets" or aspects of spirituality. Chopra is amazing at explaining these aspects and then giving suggestions for how to incorporate them into your life. This book is written from an incredibly human perspective, which is nice in a boo...more

As is the case for me and most Deepak Chopra books, it took me a while to get into the flow of this book. Surprisingly, I got really hooked somewhere after the first few chapters and haven't been able to stop reading, or thinking about some of the concepts.

A few novel ideas that really appealed to me include:
- a daily darkness/shadow meditation, where you deliberately follow a dark emotion/corner of your mind to give it attention until it dissipates into nothingness. brilliant.
- chapter on...more

recommends it for: anyone interested in "The Secret" or the Law of Attraction
This is another of my absolute favorites~ Which is why I'm actually taking the time to add it to my list here! :)

This book takes up where "The Secret" left off. It gives a well-rounded view of the universal laws and how we can tap into them, becoming better people in the process.

The information that Deepak gives in this book is sometimes startlingly wise. It's amazing to me that someone who seems to have spent so much time on their formal education seemed to spend an equal amou...more

I'm currently reading this book along with 2 other Chopra books. This author is AMAZING! If you have the belief that what you believe, you can achieve, this book will solidify your faith. It's very inspring and thought-provoking. Chopra teaches the law of attraction in a credible and spiritual way. He avoids the more "flaky" approach to the concept. I would recommend any of his books. They are life changing...they affirm that your intuition and coincidences in your life are all ...more

Huh. This seemed a little too out there. As a matter of fact, it seemed a book written with the express intent of relying on the name 'Chopra' to sell it (I can just about guarantee you can find the exact same themes in his various other books). From this point of view, I thought it was a pretty good mini-anthology and it's not as if the topics discussed weren't interesting and topical; they were and are. It's just that ... I dunno ... maybe it was the butterfly on the cover.

This book was a going-away gift from my next-door neighbors in Washington. It is simply one of the most beautiful gifts I've ever been given because its message is so simple and profound. It's one I'll read many more times and I consider it a necessity to keep me grounded in this crazy world. It sits just about at the confluence of spirituality and self-help. The biggest thing he espouses is that the ultimate answer is inside each of us, if only we'd bother to look.

I tried to go into this with an open mind and to give it a chance, but the very thought of spending time outside on the ground feeling the earth beneath me is a big no thank you.

The book was interesting, but the exercises just made me laugh.

And I really did try. I guess i'm just not ready for the secrets to be unlocked to me.

Great book if you want to learn about how strong your body is and how empowering yourself can unlock incredible emotional power. The coolest thing about this book is that it really focuses on real medicine as Depak is a doctor which adds a good sense of reality to these somewhat controversial topics.

He tends to put a scientific twist in most of his writings.

I personally enjoy his music more than his books. We have the Sirius (Sportster) sattelite radio and the "Spa 73 - New Age" station (channel 73) plays some of his music which is truly uplifting.

You want answers..... All's it takes is a little bit of work and a positive attitude and the whole univers will open up to you.

Give and you shall receive. Always remember to give selflessly and without the general knowledge of others.

This is a good book that links the individual back into the whole world. There are points in this book that help the reader overcome obstacles and get back in touch with the meaning of life. Thank you Monica for letting me borrow it!

I actually listened to this book, but had to buy it because of the beautiful cover - it is one that I do not shelf in the usual way on my bookshelf. That said, this book is worth reading, simply for the section on the wisdom of our cells....

Simple, easy - why can't I keep the concepts constant in my life? Thankfully, I have a few texts that help keep me grounded. This is one of them, when distilled down to the very basics. I am incredibly grateful that it found me when it did.

Chopra really gets a lot from Castaneda, but I think he is much easier to understand. This is the second book of his that I read. Very enjoyable. Makes so much sense in a world that fills my head with chaos.

this is a good reminder about manifesting things in your life in a non-materialistic minded way. also, a good reminder of what is possible and that we're all in the same boat.

This book is more of a project. I wish I could be left alone for a week to sit on the banks of something and plow through it. I love the way Chopra thinks about the world.
