Maggie and her family move into a home on Fear Street after her fahter dies. It's run down and needs some major TLC. The bonus is that the last family left a canopy bed behind. Maggie decides to keep it in her room and use it as her own. That is when the nightmares start. All I could think as I was listening to this book was "ewww". She slept on someone's old mattress. Can you say bed bugs, mold and who knows what else? Also, she finds to later that someone was murdered in the bed. Double gross....more

Might I start off with the fact that "Bad Dreams" has a horrible cover? I mean, they look like mental people. At least, Andrea does. HAHA to you, Andrea. I nicknamed Andrea "Bratty Sister" because that's exactly what she is. Except she's a whole lot worse. Well, you guys will see. Trust me on this one.
The book starts off with a dumb prologue (I mean, I love Fear Street, but their prologues make me want to hurl the book across the room because they're just so pointless and dumb) with a girl toss...more

Oh, my gosh this book was so interesting and awesome. I loved the book so much I could not stop reading it. I was up all night and day reading and reading. My face was litterly in the book when I had the chance to read. I kept guessing and guessing all night and day. That book was amazing, I could hear a word when I was reading. The only word i could hear was the ones in my head of the chareter and the phrase "Put your books away and...." That was all i could hear.

It was pretty much just okay.
Maggie Travers moves into Fear Street with her widowed mother and younger sister, Andrea. The two sisters never get along and even fight over a canopy bed which was in the room Maggie chose. They're not your normal pair of sisters, because these two are always fighting.
Andrea's attitude is ridiculous and annoys me to no end. She's so selfish, rude, and horrible towards Maggie. She starts things, and when Maggie doesn't try to fight back she doesn't stop bothering her...more

After the death of their father, the Travers sisters have just moved to a new house on 23 Fear Street with their mother. When the girls check out their new bedrooms, Maggie sees that the previous owners left a beautiful canopy bed. Despite Maggie's sister's jealousy, Maggie is excited to have such a beautiful bed. While Maggie's first night starts with a wonderful dream, soon she finds herself in a nightmare. From then on her nightmares get more graphic and gruesome of murder. Despite her dreams...more
The idea that the main character would be getting dreams from the girl whose bed she's sleeping in is interesting, along with the sisterly rivalry and (view spoiler). However, I think it's good that this book is only 150 pages long because I don't know how the idea could have been stretched anymore. Maybe if the author had went into more backstory on the family that used to live in the house and had gradually made Andrea a sp...more
I love Fear Street books, but this was kind of disappointing. I absolutely loved the premise. The prologue was slightly disturbing and had me excited to dive into the story. The idea of sleeping in a bed where a girl had been murdered creeps the hell out of me. Things started going downhill once (view spoiler). The ending just didn’t live up to how wonderful the set-up was. The conclusion felt a bit corny and ridiculous. I finished the book and I was just li...more
It's no secret that I love reading Fear Street novels. They're easy, quick and fun reads. And this one was particularly good.
I've read quite a few of these books and I have to say that Bad Dreams is one of the best, despite a few plot holes and a lazy ending. I'd say this one is probably one of the best written. You can really tell that Stine was having fun with the characters and he was very descriptive in this one. I loved the storyline and thought it was really intriguing. I couldn't wait to...more

Eh. It was okay. I don't think I liked this one either as a child.
The story was interesting at the start, but then it started to just dwindle a little bit and then started to feel like I can't wait for this story to be finished.
I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. If you're a fan of RL Stine and want to complete all the books for Fear Street stories, then read it...otherwise, pass it on and find a better Fear Street book.

this book has a lot of suspense in it. This book was quite entertaining. I liked the part where the main character is in thoughts within her own little world. It seems irritating but i keep thinking "what if I was in her position? How would i feel?" I think that the message that the author is trying to show his readers. Also, this book lets you read in different points of views
Started reading this at midnight before going to bed. Maybe not just such a good idea. The book was okay, not great, but just one of these that you don't love but have to finish just to know what happens in the end. It was pretty predictable who the original killer was, but I was sure it was Andrea trying to harm Maggie.
