This was a fun book! I think Ms. Scott series is going to take off like a rocket. The writing flowed well and her descriptive detail was excellent. The characters had depth and I felt like they were realistic with all the same trials and tribulations of todays youth.
I loved the protagonist, Suzy Q. and her foray into the world of hip-hop! Jo.Zee, her dance instructor is not only gorgeous, he's mysterious and a way sexy dancer!

THE INTERN, by Jess C. Scott, was an interesting start to a series in which each book focuses on the Seven Deadly Sins. The Intern explored the sin of Lust.
Right from the start I had some issues with this book. I felt there was a lot of telling versus showing. Every emotion and situation seemed to be explained to me, I felt I did not even need to think while reading, it definitely took me out of the story.

Good girl, bad boy, dancing...and lust.
When I first read about this book I was hooked with the hole idea of sins. The Intern is the first book in the new series called Sins07, and it's about Lust.
It has been a while since I couldn't relate to a character, but Suzie made that possible. She is a 17 years old girl, very much like me. The good girl. Intelligent, student of one of the best schools, always does the right thing. But inside, she likes other stuff...like dancing. So when she goes to anot...more

The Intern is a first in the series , each of which will deal with the Seven deadly sins. This book involves the sin of "Lust".
Suzie Quinn, along with her childhood friend ,Chester, are interning, at the world class city of Roxette. They both belong to the Nova Academy, which is one of the finest school in the country.
Suzie, is the "girl next door" sorts, the "good girl", who listens to her parents and works hard at school . She knows how much she is missing out on, she doesn't have a life. Her...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! 1: The intern (Book #1/Lust) by Jess C Scott is a young adult romance, telling the story of the two main characters, Suzie Quinn (AKA Suzie Q) and best friend Chester Taylor Adamski, who goes to Roxeth for spring break, working as interns at The Lysistrata Museum. As the story develops, it’s clear to see that Jess did a very good job of introducing the rest of the characters, too. They all make the story interesting in their own unique way, but furthermore, and I...more
I've been a Kpop fan almost half of my life and I am so glad I have read a book with Korean influence all over. It's the first I've come across, and it's really really good.
What made this a very enjoyable read for me, is how much I can relate to it. As a huge fan of Korean pop music, the references to a lot of Korean artists made me really proud, as this is the first book that had mentioned a lot of the most talented and most loved Korean artists I know. And it wasn't just mentioned in passing,...more

We join Suzie Q and her friend Chester on the way to their new internship and are introduced to their story as if we were old friends. I liked the idea of centering the story around an internship. I considered the combination of an internship at a museum and the first sin: lust, as an unusual one. But it was this unusualness which got me even more interested.
After successfully establishing a connection to protagonist and setting, the story went a different way. We meet the dance instructor Jo.Ze...more
The Intern is the first book in the seven deadly sins series and the first time that I have had the opportunity to read anything written by Jess C. Scott, and now I am totally hooked and can't wait for the next book in this series. With a style that is light, witty and charming and characters that are so real to life and descriptions of dance moves that are so vivid, you find yourself drawn into the world of Suzie and Chester.
Suzie and Chester attend Nova Academy one of the most prestigious high...more
I really liked this book. I liked it more than I thought I would. Suzie is someone that anyone can relate to. You go to a new place and new someone who seems so good and you just fall. With Suzie, you seem to fall in love with Jo.Zee but unlike her, I was suspicious of him. He did seem too good to be true and he used all of his abilities to enforce how he seemed so good.
Suzie seemed caught up with Jo.Zee's looks all the time. And it did get annoying at times, but I can definitely see where she'...more

I've been assigned to read this, review it, and interview the author for The Broke and the Bookish. Keep an eye out for it!
UPDATE: Well... I wasn't a fan, really. For this reason, there will be no interview with the author, but a review will be posted soon. :)
REVIEW: So I just finished 1: The Intern by Jess Scott for the guest post/interview and giveaway for TB&TB... I've got extremely mixed feelings about it. While I liked the idea, the execution was poor. The grammar was bad, the editing...more

I thought this first book in Jess C Scott’s 7 Deadly Sins series was great. Her writing style is unique and a breath of fresh air when you read a lot of YA, like I do. The subject matter is original. The main character Suzie and her friend Chester are interning at a museum for two weeks. They get to stay in a nice hotel during their internship and the hotel has a dance studio where a hip hop workout video is being shot. Suzie is interested in dance and gets a chance to be in the video. So, as th...more
I'll admit... I'm torn. While I enjoyed most of the read, I found myself oft bothered by the intense constancy of lewd and very adult thematics, in what is wrapped up as a youth's novel.
I was relieved that as everything culminated there is a salvageable message, and life lesson to glean from it all.
