If you grew up in the 1970s, your parents probably had this book on the coffee table and if you were like me, you read it many, many times. Back then, the lists were an innovative writing format and the subject matter the authors chose was quite fascinating. I hope to recover this entertaining gem somewhere--maybe it's still on my father's bookshelf.

My four-star review dates back to when I first read this book as a 'tween (although that word didn't exist then). I was fascinated by these lists, although I didn't have much cultural context into which to place most of the information.

The original book of lists has been slightly updated. Most of it I'd already read in the original from the late '70's. There is such a left-wing slant to this one that I feel I should take much of the information with a grain of salt.

One of my favorite reference books! I own all the subsequent list books as well. I have found out years later that some of the information was not exactly based on facts, but still a lot of fun to read anyway.

I haven't read this updated edition yet, but the original from the 70s is a classic! I picked it up at a thrift store for a buck back in the 90s, and I still love to page through it!

I got all three of these from a library sale for two dollars a bag. They're great for trivia, but bad for the bathroom b/c you end up in there long after you're done

The factual lists, like largest cities, have become outdated. And there are some weird preoccupations with certain individuals. But it's a fun book to page through

This is a good book for those who like lists of facts. Proving those facts can be difficult though.

My copy of this is much older--like from the seventies--and includes all manner of mind-blowing arcana.

This book means great joy for me. Why? Because it gives and gives and asks nothing back.
