I enjoyed this book. It gave me three good novellas in one book: Kept, Claimed, and Mated. Kept starts her series and each builds upon the other. All the characters know one another.

"Kept" introduces the world. The heroine is a cat therian named Greta. Therians are shapeshifters. The hero is a wizard named Dayne. He's gotten a bad rep, undeserved but much cultivated. Greta is wanted for her blood because she was born in animal form. Dayne is the only being powerful enough to save her. This book...more

Kept - Enjoyed it. Great read. Greta is a strong heroine and the interaction with Dayne was funny and sexy. I liked how Dayne was trying to not lose his rep as a "bad boy" sorcerer.

Claimed - Charlee was too stupid to live and got on my nerves. I liked her in Kept and at the beginning of Claimed but as the book progressed, I became more and more frustrated with her character. I would have bought the HEA for her and Anthony more if she wasn't such a psychotic wench during most of the story. Honest...more

3 great Novellas

Story #1 - Kept
Werecat, Greta, finds out her stepfather is going to sacrifice her on the full moon of her 28th year. Her “mother” send her to see sorcerer Dayne for help (despite that her mom burned Dayne in the badly past). Hermit by choice, Dayne thinks Greta’s arrival is a plot from his former lover. Can they trust each other enough for Dayne to protect Greta until after the full moon?

Story #2 – Claimed
Greta’s friend and co-worker, Charlee, has been teasing and flirting with...more

I found Blood Lust's three novellas’ plot intriguing at the begging because they have a slightly different set of characters in a world of paranormal book where you always find the same types of good guys and bad guys, especially the first story where the main characters are a warlock who loves e-shopping for blood and a ''cat-shifter'' whose species was for centuries the ‘‘familiars’’ of witches and warlocks. The other novellas also have interesting characters but, all this is just irrelevant c...more

well, i sucked this one down in a day and a half. i loved the writing. and for once i liked all three stories pretty equally. the last one inching out the rest just but a little bit. Greta, Charlee, and Jane are all great MFC's and their men are just as delicious.

i loved how they all twined together into the three stories, but Ms. Winters didn't play favorites by letting anyone secondary chars take over. and seeing how the next book perceives the previous is a treat as well. and truly shows how...more

I won a copy of Blood Lust via Cynthia Eden’s blog. All I saw was something about shifters and I was sold! I didn’t realize at first that the three novellas were linked; I was anticipating three, non-connected stories. Wrong! The three lead into each other, starting with Greta’s tale.

Kept was interesting in the manner of the shifters, therians, that populate the world. I was imagining something big, bad and bad ass. Greta was not that. And I totally dig having my expectations put on their head a...more

Blood Lust is a collection of three paranormal romance novellas, with a wide range of character types and setups. It's an excellent introduction to the world and author. I enjoyed this book immensely, and will be watching for more stories set in this world. Winters finds room for a lot of world-building between the lines, and it's this depth that has turned me so quickly into a fan. As in a lot of series, supporting characters are likely to end up in the spotlight soon, but the links are loose e...more

Blood Lust is the first book in the Preternaturals series by Zoe Winters. This book actually consists of 3 paranormal romance novellas that are also available as ebooks. Zoe sent me all 3 novella ebooks for review (& I also now own the paperback) and I love the world that she has created - it is packed full of paranormal species but everything fits together really well and you can see how much thought has gone into it. Just check out the website that she created for a store featured in the s...more

I don't normally read paranormal romance but this one did intrigue me. Blood Lust is a collection of three novellas: Kept, Claimed and Mated. Each can stand alone on it's own so it's not necessary to read the others but I like to read a series in order ;-p What I loved about this collection is that as each book ended, a character from the last book was carried over and featured as the main character in the next book.

For the Kindle edition, the locations came in at just over 4300 and can easily...more

Fav quotes:

She took his money, made the change, and slipped the book into the opaque green shopping bag. Her eyes widened when she glimpsed the title. “You just bought a book on menstruation, Anthony. Were you aware?”
He shrugged and smiled, revealing the barest hint of fang. “I like blood.” He scooped the bag up, gave her one last meaningful look, then drifted out of the store.

He’d just shut down the computer when a rap sounded on the front door. No one knocked on his door anymore. Primarily be

I stayed up well into the night to finish this read. If it weren’t for the breaks I had to take between laughing fits, I probably would have finished sooner.

Anyone out there ever play Dungeons & Dragons? Don’t be shy. I know some of you all were as nerdy as me growing up. I bet some of you still play the game. :) What does that have to do with Claimed? Anthony. I’d definitely classify him as lawful evil. Add t...more

The cover on this is seductive, giving you a sample of what to expect. What the cover can't tell you is the myriad of characters it contains. Blood Lust is three novellas combined, comprising of Kept, Claimed and Mated. All three novellas flow together really well and the set of stories entwine with each other.

I thoroughly enjoyed all of the characters and all their guises. There's a healthy mix - werecat (cat therian), were, vamp, s...more

I really liked this book. It was fast paced and did not drag. Each story flowed right into the next. The sexual content is not graphic, but enough for you to get the idea. If you like the supernatural realm, you will enjoy the book.

The book is three Novellas: Kept: A Warlock named Dayne and a Were-Cat named Greta (oh, excuse me Therian, you'll get it when you read the book). Clamed: A Vampire named Anthony and his human love Charlee. (last but not least, my favorite one) Mated: A Were-Wolf name...more

Vampires and werewolves, the usual stuff – and werecats. Wait, what? Nowadays it’s hard to find someone bringing something original and interesting into the world of paranormal books. Seems like most writers are mesmerized by the kind-at-heart vampires and forgets what else could be out there.

Blood Lust contains three novellas, best read in order, since there’s continuality with the characters and some things refer to the happenings in the previous novellas in the book.

The first one, Kept, has m...more

I actually really enjoyed the three short stories within this book. Though they felt rushed and incomplete they did give enough to get you interested in the characters. These stories could have been individual books with added information about the world and characters, adding more pages could have taken away from the semi-choppiness felt during reading. Even with all mentioned I really enjoyed these stories and look forward to reading more in the Preternaturals series. I recommend to anyone who...more

Not Stellar, but an okay read. None of the Characters were deep and none of the plots too complex. Ms. Winter's world building is decent. Simple, without being simple minded. I suppose if each story had been longer it would have been more complex and satisfying, but I can't complain for what each was. It's not like reading this book took a huge ivestment of my time.

Of the three, I liked Mated the most, but then again I do like werewolves, and Claimed the least.

A good book for a rainy day (like t...more

Well, it took me awhile to read this book, but it was well worth the wait! Forgive me, Zoe, I had a bunch of personal stuff going on, so I neglected finishing for a few days.

While I'd read about half of Kept about a year ago, the first novella in The Preternaturals Book One, I enjoyed actually being able to read all three novellas at once. (Kept, Claimed & Mated) I even bought this book in paperback, mostly due to my obsession with reading actual paper books, but also because I adore the co...more

Zoe Winters will keep many a reader thoroughly entertained with this compilation of previously released novellas! Complete with Vampires, Werewolves, Sorcerers and Shifters, Blood Lust will lead readers on 3 adventures all individually told yet each carried through to the next in the manner of a series.

Having had the pleasure of following Zoe’s blog posts, it’s this reader’s opinion that she has a cheeky attitude and quite intelligent mind which most definitely carries through to her wonderfully...more

Blood Lust is a compilation of three Paranormal novellas, all part of Zoe Winters’ The Preternaturals Series. Each one tells the story of a couple and their journey into their Happily Ever After. All the stories are set in the same world and some characters cross over between them at times.

I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. I tend to enjoy a shorter story now and then but I do prefer full length novel...more

Great reading! I love stepping into the preternatural world of Zoe Winters, where you'll find Therians, sorcerers, vampires, and werewolves. And maybe a demon thrown into the mix. I read each one of these stories quite a while ago. But I thought when I read these back to back, I could decide whether I liked Claimed or Mated the best. But still no. :) Anyway, Kept, Claimed, and Mated are great stories separately, but when you put the three together, you get an awesome trilogy. Read this book, fol...more

OMG LOVE this series!!! The stories in this are so amazing! I love how the novellas in this book are all loosely connected. My fave couple would have to be Cole and Jane :) Love me some werewolf lol ;) Love the way he sweeps in and saves her, all the while denying his attractions for her. Definately a must read this series! after reading this book i went and bought the rest of the Preternatural series! Can't wait for the next book to be released this month!!! :)

I have been thinking about how to review this book for a bit. I wanted to like it. There were some solid ideas, and loved the world building, however, it jumped around too much. I wished aspects of the plot and characters could have been expanded.

I understand they were novella, but I am used to books with more meat between the covers. I gave it three stars because it was enjoyable, but at times it was a struggle to continue.

3 short stories relevant to each other in 1 book.
I gave it two stars because it although it wasn't bad, the stories just seemed undeveloped. I felt a longer, stronger story waiting to be written into the book. It was like parts of the story were missing, I don't know if you understand, but it's just that feeling you sometimes get...
Otherwise it wasn't bad. It was actually ok.

DNF. Loved the characters, hated the writing which seemed to be glued together with cliche and chunks of exposition.

The first story was cute enough that I kept reading. The second failed to satisfy on any level and I barely made it to the end of the incredibly awkwardly written tournament before tossing it.

I won't be in a rush to hunt down the rest of the series.

Kept, Claimed, and Mated are three well thought out, exciting novellas that I sunk right into. The author did a great job introducing us to interesting, dynamic characters and a world filled with the supernatural. Her writing is excellent - clear, concise and straight to the heart of the characters, which I loved. I can't decide if I like Dayne/Greta in Kept the most or Cole/Jane in Mated. Can't wait to read the next books!

A good quick and steamy read. There isn't a lot of character depth or plot depth, it is just bam here ya go, which isn't always bad. The heat was intense and what was there for characters I enjoyed. I hope maybe at a later date maybe there is a reprint and this is added upon. It is a fantastic story just wish for more.

I wish more authors would write novellas. The idea of putting a few together in an ebook or print book is great.

Zoe has a talent for creating fun characters. Setting and tone are well done also. I'd like to see her write a story with LOTS of sexual tension. 'Kept' proved she can do this very well. I bet she could write something completely off the charts. When she does, I'll be waiting in line to read it.

I usually prefer full novels to novellas/shorter stories, but this was worth the read all the way through.

Though some characters played on the over-used charms of vampires and werewolves (thus a 4, rather than a 5) the stories were woven together skillfully and the writing was top notch!

I've not really gotten into the "vampire craze" that seems to be filling the book world - until now. Blood Lust was a little out of my comfort zone but that didn't stop me from reading the book in full. It was well written and worth more than what I paid for it. Thank you Zoe for a good read.
