I liked this book, in fact I LOVE this series!
To me, if Awakened was like a better version of Beautiful Creatures, then Betrayed was more like a better version of "The Mortal Instruments". (I mean, I find them to be similar somehow, don't hold it against me if you don't think so, LOL)

Reading this book felt like meeting with an old good friend of mine - I remembered some of the things I liked in the first story and I got to know a lot more new interesting things from this on...more

I want to start out by saying how much I loved this book. I have never quite enjoyed characters the way that I enjoy these ones. I have found myself to be very much attached to them. I am so glad that I found this series and gave it a chance because boy am I happy that I did. Ednah has a fan for life in me. I will love these characters for ever.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I laughed during the reading of this spectacular novel. If you haven’t read Awakened, Book 1 of The Guardian Legacy series, well then listen up because you’re in for a wild, adventurous ride.

Betrayed was definitely an action-packed, dynamic thriller. There’s no other way around it. It’s everything you look for in a heart-wrenching love story and a butt-kicking enthrallment. There wasn’t a second I wasn’t reading, delving further into the life of Lil Falcon. I brought my Kindle everywhere I went because I felt the story would just get up and run away without me, leaving me at a great loss. The plot was unpredictable and the characters were well-developed. It had me more then at the edge of my seat, I was literally on the floor. It was one of those stupefying novels that you can read once and remember every aspect of it years after from a date to the name of a street. Walter’s writing technique was beautiful, the chapters weren’t so short and weren’t too long. The cliffhangers didn’t leave you completely dangling by a branch, but you were definitely out there. Like I mentioned before, the humor in this book really had me rolling. I enjoy books that have a sense of wit because that tells me something about the author, a very good something. Everything about Betrayed made this one heck of a remarkable read.

I must say though, my ultimate favorite about this novel was Bran Llyr. The Bran Llyr. Mysterious, captivating, compelling, alluring, fascinating, and any other mouth-drooling words you can think of – that was Bran Llyr. He was everything wrapped into one secret box, the definition of triple threat. And his chemistry with Lil is so pure and hypnotizing. Awakened was a shorter read then Betrayed, but you wouldn’t have guessed they developed a relationship so strong in such a short amount of time. And that’s important as anything else. The chemistry between the two “lovers” has to be so in synced that the reader thinks they’ve met in some other time continual vortex. It just has to be there. And Ednah Walter did an incredible job at making sure it was, actually it seemed as if she wrote the whole thing with magic. Because magic was exactly what I was experiencing while reading the first paragraph of the first chapter to the last paragraph of the last chapter. This is a Top-of-the-TBR-list, phenomenal must read!

I decided to review these books as a series. I truly loved reading these books. The story puts a new twist on super powers, demons and the super natural. From the first page I was hooked and could barely put the books down, I was lacking in sleep until both books were done. I found that Ednah Walters wrote her teenage characters perfectly, they acted and thought like teens and were treated accordingly by the adults in the books.

After reading Awakened I was eager to dive into Betrayed and it didn't disapppoint.In fact I think this book is even better than the first book. What I loved the most was the fact I was kept guessing of who done it's or who is behind this or that. I'll start with the obvious by saying that it's probably a lot easier for people to get into this book if they've read the first in the series, Awakened. Betrayed pretty much kicks off where the first ends, just a little time passes - Lil is training and pretty much being the kick-ass heroine that she was in Awakened, just more knowledgable and a lot more disciplined.

I've just got to say it...I'm kinda crazy about this series. It's fun, exciting, it's chalk full of great characters, and I'm always wondering what's going to happen next. I'm still not a fan of these covers, but by not judging a book that way I lucked out this time around. Betrayed is one of those books that captures your attention from the first page and and keeps it until the last. There are quite a few characters in the book and I loved and felt connected to them all. The were all written well, and in fact, I even loved to hate the bad ones. Ednah Walters has taken the world of mythology and added her own twist to it, which is both exciting and imaginative, and created a world where these mythological characters are also teenagers that you can relate to and enjoy. I loved Sykes, not only is he super hot, he is really funny. I also really liked Celeste, Bran's sister, who was quite unique, and I thought her character added a lot to the story. The romance between Lil and Bran is really hot, and despite their issues, they truly love one another. Then, there is the action. With all the different classes of demons and angels, you are continually awed by the supernatural beings you encounter in the story. There are some intense battle scenes and Bran, Lil, and the others can really kick butt. This novel was fast-paced, creative, and incorporated just the right amount of humor and romance that makes Betrayed one of those books that keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next, with unique twists that keep you guessing. I found myself up to the wee hours of the morning without realizing it. If you love books about angels and demons, or are a fan of mythology, you will definitely love this book. If you love fantasy and romance, then I think this book would be something you would enjoy, and if you haven't read many books of this nature, then Betrayed is definitely one I would recommend. Betrayed is a great book by a great author and I look forward to reading more in this series. (less)

Such a great read!

I read Awakened back in 2010 so this book was a long time coming, but so incredibly worth the wait.

Betrayed was everything I was hoping it would be. I just adore the way Ednah Walters combines mythology, the four elements (and then some) with angel/demon lore without overwhelming the readers. Sometimes to many elements can make it to much, but it's not the case for this book, it's the perfect touch to entice the story line.

Betrayed starts up right where Awakened left off. I really liked seeing how the characters developed in this book, especially comparing them to how they began in Awakened. Lil is beginning to accept who she is, and continues to learn how to use her powers. She matures a lot in this book, and has to make difficult decisions, which shows how much her character has developed. I like how she handled the Specials-it really says volumes about her. I'm not going to lie, there were a couple of times where I was like "AHHH BRAN STOP PROTECTING HER, AND JUST TELL HER WHAT IS GOING ON", but I understand why it was necessary for the story. I think this is just my pet peeve with YA novels-Bad things ALWAYS happen when characters keep secrets from others because they are "protecting them". No. Just, no. You make them do more stupid things because they don't understand what is going on. Okay. /rant. That all being said, I still heart Bran, so it's all good.

I love the new characters! Celeste cracks me up, and I really liked Master Haziel. They let us see the other sides of the characters we love oh so much, for example, the Bran-Celeste interactions are pretty hilarious. On a similar note, I have an intense appreciation for authors who can show characters actually dealing with bad things happening to them as opposed to being totally okay right away. (view spoiler) Lil's conflicted feelings surrounding her father also helped make this story more realistic. I love we see her internal struggle with those difficult emotions: wanting to trust him, but knowing that he was not on the same "side". I thought that was very thought-provoking and I liked watching her deal with those issues, and come out stronger because of them.

The plot picks up pretty quickly off the bat, and continues at a steady pace. There are no lags in the story line and there were definitely some plot twists (view spoiler). I like the direction the story took with the dagger and Solange's role in everything. It provided a really nice parallel to Lil's story.

I mentioned this briefly in my review for Awakened, but I really think this should be the second book in the series, rather than the first. The first reason is because I think we need to see Lil from the beginning. She matures a lot during the first book and in terms of character development, it is much more well rounded. Also, without the first book, we wouldn't understand Lil and Bran's relationship to it's fullest, and it's no fun jumping into a series where the main love interest is already dating the main character! Awakened allows us all to fall in love with Bran and experience it all for ourselves. I'm not certain, but I feel like had I not read Awakened first, I may have been rooting for a Lil/Sykes coupling. I don't know. In addition, there were a couple of pages recapping the first book in Betrayed that could have been taken out, if not just shortened. Anyways, that doesn't really affect me now because I read this book second, but I would recommend reading Awakened first to everyone.

All in all, I really liked Betrayed! The ending left room for more books, and so I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series. :)(less)

Wow. Okay. It was even better than the first one, and I thought that was impossible.
I dreaded reading this book. I didn't want to be disappointed by a Edward-Bella (Norah-Patch, Luce-Daniel, Beth-Xavier etc) scenario where the boy becomes all moody and depressed and yells at the girl and she puts up with it. They always go something like this:

Guy: B*tch F-off, I HATE YOU! I'LL KEEP WHATEVER DAMN SECRETS I WANT.
Girl: *Cries* Fine I'm never talking to you again!

I was so excited to catch up with Lil and all her friends. I really liked Lil from the first time I met her in Awakened, and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching her character grow and mature over the course of this series. Things with boyfriend Bran are rocky at times during Betrayed, but without getting super angsty. I love that Lil doesn’t take his crap and almost always stands up for herself. I also couldn’t get enough when it came to her interactions with fellow trainee, Sykes. He is probably my favorite character in this series. His attitude and sense of humor makes it difficult to not become smitten by him

The world Ednah Walters has created is so cool! I dug the diverse group of demon bad guys sent to face off with Lil and her crew. The characters battling it out with a variety of demons, each with unique strengths and weaknesses, really helped to keep the action sequences from becoming redundant. One of my favorite things about Awakened was all the super cool powers the characters possessed. In Betrayed those powers have become even stronger, and I was really digging how kick ass this made all the characters when they fought the previously mentioned demons. As for Lil’s powers, you don’t want to miss out on how they’re evolving. She is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Betrayed contains loads of action and battles that will have readers on the edge of their seats. This made for a very quick moving pace that worked perfectly for the story.

There is more to this series than just fierce fights and demon hunting. Lil and Bran have such an intense connection. It was disheartening seeing them argue and bicker during Betrayed. Everyone was so stressed about finding the mysterious list and it showed. Bran’s behavior was also a little shady at times and definitely had me doubting his intentions. Bran’s shadiness was one of the key elements that kept me reading. I was dying to discover what the boy was up to and hoping he wasn’t the one betraying the lovely Lil.

If you’re into stories of the good guys and the bad guys battling it out (and don’t mind a little romance with your action), I really suggest you give this series a try!(less)

Betrayed is the second book in The Guardian Legacy series. It's full of mystery, suspense, and betrayal as Lil tries to find out who has betrayed her. Story:
Ednah very clever in stirring my emotions, which certainly, this is a story that you will not miss it. The story of the angel, demon, Nephilim, werenephilim or immortal creature that described in book, awalys makes me amazed and wonder by the imagination of the author, how can they create a story which I will always ask, is this creature exist in this world or perhaps in another world? Interaction between Lil and Bran has always fascinated me, how they go together like yin-yang, using psi energy to complement each other and help alleviate the emotions if one feels angry, sad, and others. Even this is not happen in this book this time, Bran decided not to link their psi – energy because that can causing “poison”. How can?
I also like the interaction between every Guardian. The way they talk through the thoughts, telepathy, etc..

Overall:
The story is very interesting and highly recommend this book to be read and prepare yourself and get ready to blushing, grinning, smiling, laughing, guessing and wondering and hesitating between who is good and who is bad. To be sure I will always look forward to read another Ednah’s book.

This book is a conundrum for me. On the one hand, it is pretty well written, has an interesting story line, wasn’t just an exact re-telling of what happened in the first book, and had characters that were relatively well-rounded. I have to say, also, that the betrayal that this book is named for was a good mystery. There weren’t tons of red herrings (which can get really annoying after a while), but there were plenty of references throughout the book that made this reader wonder “Is that the betrayer?” The sophomore book of a series so often gets thrown under the bus when it comes to plot and excitement. Many times it only serves as a conveyance to the third book. It cleans up messes from the first book, gives a few more clues, and then sits there and waits for the next volume. This book built off of the last book evenly and had its own suspense, problems and new characters.

But on the other hand...maybe I needed to wait longer to read it after finishing the first one. I don’t know. I guess since the first one was “fine,” I could have survived without reading the second one. Like Awakened, there wasn’t anything really new here and other than what I discussed earlier, it was pretty predictable. Sure, you could argue plot points, names of weapons, etc., but I’m talking about the story, stripped to its essence. Some series, I want to power through all available. This one, not so much.

Beautifully written Urban Fantasy that revolves around the Nephilim. Now I have not read the first in the series, though I plan to soon. I was able to follow along just fine without any real pressing questions.

Betrayed is action packed experience , love gushing , and betraying book. Could not put this one down and stayed up half the night to finish. Betrayed is not predictable at all. I didn't know who betrayed Lil and the guardians till the end. Lil and Bran romance gets even better and a little smexy. After enjoying the first book, I wanted to like this one more than I did. It seems to suffer from 2nd movie syndrome - all of the new, interesting information is already out there, and now we have to figure out how to get from there to book 3. So when I first started this book I was actually completely lost..but after doing some research I realized that this was actually the second book in a series! I luckily was able to find the first book and get up to speed, and not be so confused when I read Betrayed!
