This is by far one of the best biographies/memoirs about Dean Martin that i've ever read. Written by his 4th daughter by his first wife, Deana tells what it was like growing up, with her mother Elizabeth (Betty) Anne McDonald, who was an alcoholic and as thus not the best mother. And when he found out about it, Dean's subseqensent custody suit, and what it was like when they went to live with him and his then-wife Jeanne. The rest of the book tells stories about what it was like growing up with...more

I loved this book and thought it was one of the best biographies I ever read. Deana wrote a great story about her father. She did not make him out to be the perfect father, but she also did not trash him. I do not like when people write books trashing a person who is dead and not able to defend themselves. Deana showed that her father was human with flaws like everyone else. I love Dean Martin and this book made me love him even more. I enjoyed hearing about all the celebrities that were r...more

Dean Martin was always the Rat Pack member I liked the best although this book revealed information about him I was unaware of and that I did not like. The talent level of Sammy Davis Jr, Frank Sinatra and Dean was incredible and we should remember them for the good things that they accomplished. I heard Deana Martin on the radio and she sounded like a well adjusted person despite the celebrity spotlight that she found herself growing up in and the book bears this out. The Dean Martin and Jerry ...more

A good look at life with Dean Martin, from his daughter's perspective. I learned a lot about Dino, thankfully some it dispelled some not-so-favorable reports I'd read in other media. Deana obviously loved her father, and it really shows in this book.

A great book about a truly amazing entertainer. Told by his oldest daughter you really get to know and understand Dean Martin - the family man.
