This book caught my attention years ago on the library shelves, but until now I'd never check it out. It's an old-fashion romance novel set during the colonial times of America. And by old-fashion I mean the hero and heroine are practically perfect in every way, from their looks to their modern thinking despite the times.

So far I have yet to not enjoy anything by this author. It's amazing that Shemaine (who's name I think is a little bit odd) was able to survive through all that she did. I was surprised that Gage believed her innocence as readily as he did, but I guess that's true love, right? The story is a bit predictable, but that in no way takes away from the enjoyment. Kathleen Woodiwiss always writes a tender love story. She introduced the Historical Romance to lonely housewives and opened the bedroom door. However, she was tasteful about it. We'll miss her prose.

This book kind of sucks. But it's the stereotypical historical romance and it makes me happy. Extremely cheesy, but cheese tastes so good!
