oh my god - what better book to go on my "creepy dolls" shelf???
this is my new very favorite book. i am a sucker for this kind of thing; collections of odd and funny things - books i can flip through when i am too bored to concentrate on a "real" book, and books like these are why the e-readers cannot be allowed to have their way - this does not translate to e-ink. i love my little novelty books, and i will continue to support it when websites turn into books. bring me more lolcats, i dare you.

I don't usually write reviews but I felt compelled to after picking up this book. I don't know what I was expecting but I can tell you I was beyond underwhelmed. The dolls were creepy, yes, but I didn't care for the names or the unique class notables they were each given. At some point I gave up reading the names and notables and just looked at the pictures. I would have LOVED brief descriptions on the dolls or just some really basic information on their history. I know nothing about dolls, whic...more
Do dolls creep you out? Do you look into their unblinking eyes and the hair on the back of your neck starts to shiver? Well, then this is the book for you. Great photography, laugh out loud names and "most likely tos" will keep you giggling for a long time. Read some other reviews on this and if you are looking for a DOLL book well this isn't a book for you. It won't give you the history of dolls or who made them or how old they are, but it will give you a yearbook style layout and a good time....more
IMO
Disappointing. While some of the dolls are certainly disturbing in appearance, I found most of them fell short of the creepiness factor that many dolls do, in fact, exhibit -- not sure if that was a presentation thing or what. Additionally, too many of the commentaries felt forced.
It's too bad -- I was looking forward to spending some time with the soulless little freaks...
I thought at first it was funny. The humour faded fairly quickly and I felt that the author had run out of funny ideas about the captions for the dolls. I giggled a lot through her little introduction story.
Also, I thought a few of the dolls were creepy, but the rest I thought were just ugly. I have seen some much creepier dolls, in my opinion!

I was given this book by a friend that understands the freak show that is my mind and that I would absolutely LOVE IT! I mean, this book had me at Rosemary Hades declaration, "Mary had a little lamb...but I ate it." This book was so hilarious and brilliantly witty. Bravo, Stacey Leigh Brooks, twisted minds are AWESOME!
The pics of the dolls are fantastic and it's fun to just flip through and browse the pics, but the snarky descriptions under each pic are pure twisted-witty-gold. If you've got a bit of a twist to ya, you're gonna love it. If you don't, come on over to the dark side. We're all out of cookies, but we still have more fun!
Photos of creepy dolls. Surprise! Each picture has a somewhat amusing caption, my favorites being Rhoda 'Bad Seed' Penmark-Most likely to drown a classmate for his penmanship medal, Sinn Amon-'Sometimes screams smell like peppermint', Mestophelina Gonabedadethovus-'If there's a devil in your bonnet, clap your hands!',MerCeeee-Most likely to lure you in with her innocent cherub cheeks, then stick you with the plastic shiv she whittled from her own leg.
This book is a collection of creepy ass dolls makes you not want to sleep at night. Stacey Leigh Brooks is a genius for coming up with this concept and making it into a book. I love her humor in naming them and their quotes. This book gets 4 stars and I recommend people who have a great sense of humor to get this book as well.
Love the idea, but the text that accompanied each picture kind of ruined the book. Could have been much more sarcastic and funny. The cover and title still kick ass, though.
