"Marianne Martin is a wonderful storyteller and a graceful writer with a light, witty touch with language and a sensitivity to the emotions of people in love. There is a tenderness and brightness to her characterizations that make the personalities quite beguiling."—Ann Bannon

The Indelible Heart takes on a lot of emotional and interpersonal issues including depression, anger, substance abuse, love, personal boundaries, balance, healing, forgiveness, etc. all amongst the backdrop of historic hate crime legislation initiatives in Michigan.

This novel touches on many things, depression, anger, death, murder, love, organizing, but this will come as no surprise to readers of Martin's body of work. She is adept at including social issues and ethics within her books, and this one is no exception. This is a sequel to Love in the Balance, and picks up that story ten years later, focusing on the character of Sharon.

Sharon was a secondary character in Love in the Balance, and not an entirely likable one. That Martin chose to make her the...more

:-) Back in the day when Niad = lesbian romance literature, I was a fan. I loved those bold and imaginative novels and I confess that they eased the strain of coming-out in the early 1980s. Okay, enough of that... Marianne Martin's sequel to Legacy of Love really took me back to the best of Niad and beyond. The book is well-written... and her characters earthy, fun, sensual and savvy.
What a great book it is! This book is a sequel of Love In The Balance. I wanted to read it slowly and sovored it, and I enjoyed every minute of it! This book has so many topics that makes you stop and think about them. this is abook to read more than once. Thanks, Marianne. As always a good work.

The biggest problem with this book is that it makes me want to read her other books about the same characters in this book. Doesn't she know how busy I am and how hard they might be to find? I mean, the library workers might go on strike soon!
