Though not as good as the first in the series (Pride & Prescience), this was still an enjoyable, light mystery story.
Bebris does a nice job of invoking the era, and I really enjoy how she intermingles the characters from different Jane Austen novels together--I had never really noticed the different dates of the novel settings, and so in this novel, while Darcy and Elizabeth are newly wed, MaryAnn and the Colonel, and Elinor and Edward have all been married for some time (from Sense &...more

How diverting! Sometimes, I just have to read something quick and fun, and, never being able to get enough of Jane Austen's fabulous characters, discovering the new generation of Austen-based stories fits the bill completely.
In this story, Darcy and Elizabeth are trying to find a husband for Kitty (who is much more likeable now that Lydia is off with Mr. Wickham). They meet a marriagable cousin of the Dashwood sisters from Sense and Sensibility, and so charaters from both novels make appe...more

This book was interesting because it brought back some beloved characters and gave you a glimpse into their life post Pride and Prejudice/Sense and Sensibility. I enjoyed the Darcy banter that was portrayed. I did feel, however, that the plot was fairly predictable. If you read the epilogue (or author's note) it adds to the novel as a whole because it would seem that Jane Austen would approve of some aspects of the story and the paths that the characters take. Overall, it was a fun experience fo...more

The first part of this book was actually a pretty fun read. It was nice to see that Kitty had outgrown most of the silliness that filled her life in Pride and Prejudice. She and Mr. Dashwood were a good match, and the descriptions of the food-obsessed cousin, Regina, were pretty great. I only got about two-thirds through the book, though. The whole tone changed from a fun Darcy mystery to a weird sci-fi. The author also introduced some sort of satanic group around the same time, and I was...more

This is the first of these mysteries that I have read. Mr and Mrs Darcy are the characters from Pride and Prejudice in their life as a married couple. That part is fun...the mystery was slow to develop and then not really believable. I had it figured out when I was about 2/3rds through and it took until nearly the end of the book for the author to reveal the truth...kept me reading, but it was a little slow.
I enjoyed it overall and would recommend it for escape kind of reading :-)

This is a super cute book. It brings the Pride & Prejudice world into the Sense & Sensibility one. Darcy & Elizabeth decide to sponsor Kitty at a season of London and she meets one of the Dashwoods. It is a mystery novel so there are a bunch of strange turns of events. But I thought it was well written and clean! Put it on your list to read.
BTW - This is her second of three books. I didn't realize till after I read it so you might want to read her first one first, Pride & Presc

This is the second in the Darcy Mysteries. I enjoyed it as well as I enjoyed the first one. I think I will hold off on the third book in the series until I read Northanger Abbey, which is a Jane Austen I haven't read yet, but maybe not. I did enjoy the mystery, it tends to lean a little to the supernatural side... which makes for a unique mystery. Plus don't you want to know what happens to the Darcy's after the wedding.

I think Bebris has the right balance of Regency society and Austen characters. I thoroughly enjoyed having Elinor and Elizabeth meet (although I must admit I didn't realize "Sense and Sensibility" happened years before "Pride and Prejudice"). I just wish there was a way to keep the storyline without having so much of the supernatural involved.

Okay, this wasn't a life-changing book, but it was such a fun romp that I can't wait for more. This is for all you Jane Austen nerds out there...and I know I'm not the only one. In this second installment, a newly-married Mr. and Mrs. Darcy meet none other than the sisters from Sense and Sensibility. I KNOW! I highly recommend this for a fun read!

I like the different approach to making a Pride & Prejudice sequel - Having the Darcys solve mysteries. But, I wish there wasn't sooo much supernatural stuff thrown in. I thought Bebris did a good job with "North by Northanger Abby". If she would do more mysteries like that, I'd be happy.

I liked this book even less than the first. It was even more far-fetched. I highly doubt the ending would have taken place after all the transpired in the middle of the story.
The supernatural and Jane Austen don't mix in my opinion. Don't bother.

This was kind of a mix between Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice, with a twist of supernatural. It was a nice ready but not very realistic, I did enjoy it, and would definitely recommend it if you are interested in Sci-fi and in romantic books.

I would have liked this book a lot if it hadn't been for the strange supernatural bit she threw in there. I thought it her characters were pretty true to Jane Austen, although not quite as well written.

As a devotee of Jane Austen and cozy mysteries who could pass up this series of derivatives! Good reads and the relationships seem right on target for Elizabeth and Darcy.

An entertaining diversion, though somehow I have a difficult time believing that Jane Austin would approve of the supernatural bent these books are taking.

It's a bit silly, but a lot of fun at the same time. I also found it to be very witty...which I'm sure would have pleased Jane Austen. :-)
If you like Fitzwilliam and Elizabeth Darcy--you will enjoy this easy-read series by Carrie Bebris. They are "after the wedding" mysteries.

If you like Jane Austen, this is a good modern fix. Blends Pride and Prejudice with Nick and Nora and a little Supernatural. Fun read.

Elizabeth's ability to discover supernatural in Regency times is amazing, even better is her and Darcy's ability to vanquish evil.
