Matthew Trickett
Cochrane makes coherent sense of animal rights ethics, putting animal rights as a central concern for political communities. By assessing different philosophical currents and delving into historical contexts of ancient, medieval and modern societies and their different relationships with animals, Cochrane makes for intriguing reading. He concludes that justice for sentient beings should be the aim for arranging a human-animal community.
