Sigh. The first book in this series was really promising. The second was just mediocre. This one, well... It's basically every sub-par YA paranormal romance focused on vampires ever written. At least the art isn't horrible.

The plot is just a mess. Our MC, who is so bland I can't even remember her name, likes to date projects. Oh, she made me cringe. Her sheer delight when she realizes that the cute guy she just met is a janitor is pitiful. There's so much she could do with him! (Question: Why do
When I first picked up this series via Made for Each Other (book 2 in the series), I was a little underwhelmed. I'd been told that there were better entries out there, so I picked this one up to see if that was the case & I'm happy to say that it is.

While the content was definitely inspired by various vampire hunting heroes (Buffy anyone?), this comic takes that inspiration & manages to turn it into something new & fun. You won't care that you've seen it before in a different incarna

This is the third book in the My Boyfriend is a Monster series. Each is a standalone book that depicts a different monster: Frankenstein, zombie, ghosts, etc. Ari read the first one I Love Him to Pieces and enjoyed it. I found this to be really intolerable.

I'm going to guess that Vanessa is supposed to have somewhat of a victim mentality at the beginning of the book and then grows into this warrior woman. I thought that she was just lame. As in needs to work on herself before she works on anyone
My Overall Favorite of the Series!

Vanessa Shingle has a problem. When it comes to guys she has a habit of dating the fixer-uppers. Meeting up with the hottie janitor who should be doing something far less mundane seems like nice start to her latest fix-a-boyfriend adventure. But in this little New Mexico town there's something far more problematic going on. Vampires are running amock and they seem to want a taste of Vanessa. When her new project starts seeming like maybe his biggest problem has

I received an ARC from NetGalley of this title, which in no way sways my opinion of this title in either direction.

Vanessa Shingle is a high school senior, a fixer, and has absolutely no clue what to do with her life. She is, however, a "fixer" as all her past boyfriends she has made into projects. She needs to improve them. To me, this made the character a bit bland.

Vanessa goes to the local college to hang out while her sister, Tracy, is in class. She meets and is immediately smitten with a w
My Boyfriend Bites was cute. It wasn't the worst in the series and it wasn't the best. It wasn't particularly stand out but it didn't make me want to smack my head into a wall either (well not too much). I think most of us have known a Vanessa in our lives, someone who likes to "Fix" people (or try to). It can be annoying, especially considering she doesn't know herself and I don't understand the drive to fix someone else simply because they don't live up to your vision of what they "could" be. ...more
Soobie's heartbroken

The weakest installment I've read so far.

The art was OK, nothing exception but I've seen way worse.

The story was unoriginal.

The heroine was a real pain in the neck. She dates guys because she can see that they're better that they thought to be and she does everything to change them. But probably all her experiments backfire because at least two of her exes ended up in jail.

And then comes Jean-Paul. And he immediately reminded me of Jean-Claude from Laurell K. Hamilton's series. OK, mayb

I’m reviewing this for a publisher on Net Galley.

My Boyfriend Bites is the third book of the My Boyfriend is a Monster.

Vanessa Shingles is a senior at a high school in Ravenfeather Brook. Vanessa talks about how she tries to help people by telling them about things she thinks they should do. For example, her friend, Stork, excels with languages so she tells him he should have a career that involves that. Vanessa is often saying she doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life. She decides sh
If you're looking for a graphic novel full of teen angst, paranormal romance, and adventure, My Boyfriend Bites may be your thing. (It's the 3rd in the "My Boyfriend Is A Monster" series. I reviewed Book #2, Made For Each Other, in a previous post.)
Vanessa Shingle is starting her senior year of high school, and has absolutely no idea of what to do after she graduates. Her uncertainty is ironic, considering that she has a history of telling her friends (and all her former boyfriends) exactly wha

Forgot that I had read this before and I to say I really enjoyed it again. Vampires need I say more!!

I am a closet fan of anima! I never really tell people I like it because there are so many varied opinions on the subject and I just don't really care what other people fill about it. I like it and that is all I really need to know. I am a huge fan of the art and I especially like when some of my favorite books spin-off into graphic novels because then you get to see what the author envisioned th

I read this book called My Boyfriend Bites (My Boyfriend is a Monster). Its about a Mexican girl who is new to a school. Her name is Vannessa Shingles. She is the new kid at the school and she is kinda quiet at times. One night she went to a building and to find this really cute janitor name Jean-Paul (his name is pretty weird). He saved her from falling and as he saved her, the piece of a wall came down. He held the wall up with just his hands and nothing else. After that she went home to her A ...more

My Boyfriend is a Monster 3: My Boyfriend Bites / 978-0761370789

I've been following this loosely connected series with interest, since I like the concept: a series of graphic novels about "monstrous" boyfriends, all written and illustrated by different people. I loved the first novel ("I Love Him To Pieces"; zombies), and was ambivalent about the second novel ("Made For Each Other"; Frankenstein's monster). Now we come to the third in the series and it's a story about vampires in New Mexico and

ARC ebook provided by NetGalley

This is the 3rd book in the “My Boyfriend is a Monster” series, but it’s not a sequel to either the 1st or 2nd one, much to my disappointment. Instead each issue seems to take the idea of a girl dating some type of monster--zombie, vampire, etc. And this issue the young girl, Vanessa, hooks up with a vampire, Jean-Paul

This is the 3rd entry into the "My Boyfriend is a Monster" graphic novel series. This is not as good, in my opinion, as the previous two entries. The main character has a bit of a habit of finding the worst boyfriends and trying to improve them. The Juvenile Delinquent, The Smart Cheat, The Fat Slob, and now she's met the super hot janitor at the community college where he sister just started. He's nice, he seems into her too, only on their first date all sorts of things go wrong and he saves he ...more

Vanessa likes to choose boyfriends that need "fixing". The gangster, the slacker...the school cheater ect. Now she has found Jean-Paul and he seems like the perfect fixer upper! He is drop-dead gorgeous, plus he is also smart. Vanessa doesn't understand why he wants to waste his life being a janitor at a college(Good Will Hunting?), so she makes it her mission to find out his real story.

What she finds isn't at all what she expected.....Jean-Paul is a Vampire. He tells Vanessa she is a part of a
My Boyfriend Bites by Dan Jolley is the third volume in "My Boyfriend is a Monster". So far, we've had zombies and monsters created by Frankenstein's Monster and now, we have a Were-bat. This was my least favourite volume of the series, but the story was still enjoyable enough for fans of both Twilight and Buffy the Vampire Slayer to find enjoyment.

Fans of Twilight will love the hot were-bat "boyfriend" and fans of Buffy will love that the main character is a kick-butt descendant of Van Helsing
Appeal Characteristics: Graphic Visualizations (Bishounen Men) Vampires, Quirky, Witty Dialogue

Where were these books when I was growing up? I would've eaten these up alive. I actually kinda like this series. The characters are spunky, the dialogue is cute, and the endings aren't really wrapped up "nice and neat with a pretty boy." The character development (primarily girl) is interesting to they show how different girlfriend characters can be. This girl is a "fixer." I like how it stay
Better than the second one, not as good as the first one, also the dudes secret (view spoiler) was super dumb. pretty ok, If you read it more as a comedy.
I'm getting really frustrated with this series. The first book (I Love Him to Pieces) was so good but the next two installments have disappointed me.

Ok, let me start with the good stuff in this book.
~The Artwork
Great illustrations. (Jean-Paul is a hottie, even with his hippie sideburns.)
~I enjoyed the sarcastic humor that was present in the first few chapters.
~Character: Vanessa isn't just a lovelorn girl. She's a tough chick. Love that.

~Story. Explain again WHY the sacrifice? Oh yeah, i
My Boyfriend Bites was a quick and cute story, but with no spark or bite to it. I felt like this tale and romance had been done a few times and a few more times before that. The smitten couple pulled no laughs or heart strings for me.

The illustrations, on the other hand, packed a punch and stole the show! Clear, clean, vivid black and white panels propelled the story along with intelligence and humor. They brought this book to life. The gang of bad guys got huge love and giggles from me. Vampire

I would call this the weak point of the first four books of the series. I believe a story should be judged on its own merits even if it adheres to plenty of genre cliches, but this felt too on-the-nose with the "Twilight" school of storytelling. Considering that Twilight's the blueprint for all of the My Boyfriend Is A Monster stories, my negative comparison is not made in passing. While I appreciated the brief interlude of the English class discussing Vonnegut, the story was too cookie-cutter a ...more
Vanessa Shingle meets Jean-Paul and decides that he will be her new project boyfriend. (He's a janitor, what's a guy like that doing as a janitor.) Then the town becomes over run by vampires who seem to have her as their target. She's got to deal w/ her own problems while trying to figure out what is up with Jean-Paul.

This one was okay. I wanted to like it more but the lack of info on Jean-Paul frustrated me a little. I also found Maria a tiny bit obnoxious.

It talks about the protagonist Vanessa Shingle. She dates a monster this book gives a good topic about supernatural things. Vanessa Shingle has knock for a choosing boy friends who need fixing-the juvenile delinquent, the school cheat, the slacker.... Then she meets this boy Jean-paul McClellan-the perfect project. Why would such a smart hunk waste his perfectly good time as a janitor? It truns out that Vanessa is a monster hunter find out more read the book.
Vanessa likes to fix her boyfriends and her newest project is a gorgeous janitor at her sister's college. But all is not as it appears with Jean-Paul, he drinks blood and transforms into a bat. And he is convinced that Vanessa is soon to be a great vampire hunter, which is why they are trying to kill her before she turns 18. With his help, her best friend's help, and her own ingenuity, can they vanquish the vampires but keep Jean-Paul alive?
Senior High school girl that loves to fix her boyfriends meets a gorgeous man that she decides is her next project. He shows some unbelievable strength in a funny scene with an elevator. Then she finds there is a much darker side to her new project. He’s a vampire and he’s not the only one. Arguh, there is a clown vampire, a clown !
This story is funny, sexy and a joy to read. I had many LOL moments. Great artwork, very emotional.
I read the first 62 pages online, but I'm not sure this one convinces me as the first book in the series (I love him to pieces).
The thing is, if I take this as a satire of sorts, than I might enjoy it, but if I don't the story feels rushed, the characters lame and the art, altough prety most of the times, is strange at others.

Mmmhhh ... not conviced yet. But I'd like to read the rest just to get a full picture.
