This book is highly readable, the kind of thing that one could read from start to finish if one just had a few hours with nothing to do. However, this is the most positive thing I can say about this book. It's supposed be one of those screwball accounts of someone living in a foreign culture and the wacky mishaps he experiences, but mostly it's about a relatively uninteresting Englishman who tries much too hard at being funny, and who simply didn't bother to find out anything at all about how Fr...more

For someone who understands a Franglais ... this book is hilarious.
Franglais is a mixture of French and English with an accent borrowed from Clouseau (Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther series).
I would recommend this book to anyone who has either visited or lived in France AND speak/understands a bit of French. This book will crack you up!

It was pretty funny actually. As a person living in France there are a lot of crazy things that one has to deal with. he describe many of the situations perfectly. If your a francophile, I would say your going to enjoy this book.

anyone who lives or lived in france or a french area....
this book made me laugh so much...most likely because i lived in the french speaking part of switzerland for almost 2 years and, therefore, could relate to his frustration of the french...

In preparation for our trip to France next year, this is comical. A bumbling Brit's adventure in France for a year is amusing. Very fast read.

I received this book as a gift during my trip to France. It was an enjoyable read. It is a bit sexist, but interesting enough.
