Very good, I love almost all of Shannon Drake's historical romance books. If you like the type of book where the hero is angry at the heroine for a while- you will love it!

Has some interesting writing, and it's an interesting topic, but the story gets very, very repetitive. And not just the story, but literally, the lines get repeated over and over again. The same thing, give or take, without changing the sentences or sentence structures. Sometimes there are entire repeated paragraphs just phrased a tiny bit differently. Definitely padded and padded and padded to get to a 500-page mark. I could have easily lopped off half the book in editing. Had I not been sittin ...more

4 stars. What I love about this book: 1- Sir Jamie Graham is a likable character, and a familiar one if you've read the earlier Graham novel 'Knight Triumphant' - he is Sir Eric's lute-playing cousin. We see castle Langley again and a lot of the people in KT, including the horses! 2- it's cool to have a female (Lady Christina ) as an accomplished swordsman, although she can embroider as well.. 3-King Robert the Bruce is a compelling historical figure and appears throughout the book. Highly recom ...more

Shanon Drake does more than bring characters together in a book. She tells believable stories without romancing the past. Her characters make sound judgment true to the character's beliefs, ideals, and feelings, and while it may not be the ideal, it certainy calls for some very dramatic scenes! Christina and Jamie are both very strong characters. Thier pride, very cliche, stands in the way of what they really feel and want to say. Of course we see throughout the entire book that attraction and l ...more

enjoyed reading about the determination of a woman to get what she wanted and could use a weapon well to defend others.

Truly more of a 3.5 stars. A wonderful bit of history weaved with strong romance, dangerous adventure, and characters worthy of late nights and your favorite carton of ice cream. : - ) This is one for the truly romantic history lovers out there.

I enjoyed this book but it was hard to understand the relationship between the two charters. It was like the main character's failed to communicate only argue so it was hard to understand how they even hooked up.

I liked it but it was way too long. And (spoiler alert -- but not too hard to know about) Christina's pregnancy seemed to last for years -- and she never showed...how is that possible?
