First, I LOVE Teresa Medeiros and I've loved many of her books.

I can't love this one. I finished it last night and thought about it each time I woke during the night, trying to describe how I felt about it.

Must say, it was very well written and isn't a book that I will easily forget, that's on the plus side! The negative side is in the spoiler section here:

Já finalizei a leitura e devo dizer que foi uma agradavel surpresa esta autora, nunca antes tinha lido nada dela e acabou por ser uma leitura compulsiva isto é, por um lado estava reticente por ser um romance historico mas por outro gostei da relação estabelecida entre Gelina e Conn apesar de tanto um como o outro quererem dominar completamente a relacao pela lei dos beijos e das espadas.

I love, LOVE, Teresa Mederois. I strongly, disliked this book.

I forced myself, to finish reading, the will to do so, derived from an extremely stubborn hope that it would get better if I persevered.

I know that there must be some conflict between the 2 lovers before they can live happily ever after, but enough already! I got bored of the many conflicts between Conn and Gelina. Every time this woman/child cried I kept thinking to myself "WHY on earth would she want to stay with a man that brings her so much pain so often". This wasn't my idea of a good romance at all :(

This was a wild adventure in the time period ad 123 Ireland. The themes and tone of story is a bit dark, there is comic relief in the form of a court jester. There are many difficulties to contend with. The heroine is a victim of revenge and has come to depend on the hero for protection even though she believes he is the cause of her problems.
The heroine does withhold very important info from hero and does more than a couple of "too stupid to live" moves but I forgive her for everything.

I usually find bodice-ripper type romances to be a mix of entertaining and tedious: the over-the-top drama is fun, but the meandering plots, intrigues and roller coaster like love/hate relationships bore me. This one is pretty typical, though the writing is better than many--and like most Medeiros books, it's even funny in spots. After giving myself permission to skim through the dull parts, I rather enjoyed it.

This book had a well thought out plot. I was often frustrated by Conn but it wouldn't be a book if everything worked out happily right away.

I usually love T.M.'s books...but I was sorry I read this one. I kept waiting for a plot twist, a redeeming moment...as the book continued its death spiral until it crashed and burned so badly I can still taste the acid when I think about it.


By all means, read this author. Just don't read THIS book.

First book to have read but Teresa and to say the least it was the one that started it all for me, I love the highlanders, and irishmen, or even the vikings. They are all powerful men, who know what they want and that makes the books so exciting.

I loved this book @ the time, as it was the first romance novel I had ever read. I still enjoy Teresa Medeiros, but I think I need to reread this one as an adult.

I am still trying to get through this one, it contains many references to the mystical which I am unfamiliar. I'm only a third through will let you know how it is.

I don't know what to say about this book. I just finished it and the one thought I'm left with is, "that was really rapey."

Ridiculous and sick. One of its multiple flaws is a type of “I rape you because I love you”. Do I need to say more?

Eh - it was an okay book, and I only gave it two stars mainly because I typically love Teresa Medeiros's work, but this didn't wow me as I had hoped.

The story could have really went somewhere, but didn't. I really don't see what Con seen in Gelina. She hurt him many times and was so young even she didn't know what she wanted. He brother was a evil freak. The ending just fell flat. The epilogue pretty much was a waste because it was a tease. (view spoiler)[And OMG I couldn't believe they killed off Nimbus. The Very best historical romance ever written. This book turned me into a Teresa Medeiros fan for life. I read it in two nights and cried through most of it. I think I'll read it again.

Lê-se muito bem, mas nem as personagens são convincentes nem o contexto histórico é muito bem explorado. De qualquer forma, gostei.
