My feelings about this book can best be summed up in this simple way: "YAAY! HORSIES! HORSIES HORSIES HORSIESHORSIESHORSIES YAY!!!"
I am a huge animal lover and horses are among my favorite. I found this book in a grocery store's paperback section when I was about twelve years old, and my mom, praises be to her, never hesitated to buy me any book I wanted. Just look at the cover! It's a twelve-year-old girl's fantasy coming as close to true as can ever happen! It's got a More...

I love this book. I read it when I was a girl and recently reread it to see if it was as good as I remember it. It was. The characters are horses and the story line is one of redemtion and fighting evil. Well written and imaginative.

I loved this book as a child and reread it multiple times. But then again I was horse crazy as a child and only read books with horses on the cover, so maybe I'm a little bias.

Book #145 for the 2010 52 Books in 52 Week Ravelry Challenge.
I wasn't all that impressed with this book. I am hoping that her other books are better.

I found this and its sequel at one of those mass book sales, and consider it quite a find. This is a book I've read several times. Duchess, the last appaloosa on earth, meets with The Dancer, of the Courts of the Outermost West. The Dancer wants to establish the appaloosa on earth again. But the Dark Horse, too, is seeking the appaloosas for his own evil purposes. Fans of Watership Down will enjoy this book, which is filled with all sorts of horse folklore and mythos.

This is a great book for a teenage girl, especially if she's mad about horses. For everyone else...it's a little overwrought. VERY flowery prose, especially in the sections dealing with the religion of the horses. Also there's horse tragedy and horse romance and lots of horse adventure. Fun stuff and a good book, for what it is.

This book is a fantasy that is about horses and how they get along with each other. This is about diffrent horses in the world. Every chapter is a diffrent kind of horse and talks about the diffrent ways of getting to Eqqus. The horses know the pecking order and what to do during the time they have.

A really good fantasy read especially if you like horse stories too. A very clever idea to use horses in the way that it does to create a fantasy novel.

One of my favorite books of all time, I used to read it once of every year...in the style of "Watership Down", but more fantasy and with horses.

This book is one of those that you can come back to after not having read it for a few years and still enjoy it as much as the first time.

Sort of like Watership Down with horses - only more strange. Much about the struggle between good and evil forces

This is a childhood favorite. I read it at least a dozen times when I was a horse crazy pre-teen.
