Mystery readers, people who want justice
First of all, I'm a Barbara Holloway groupie and I look forward to any and all Barbara Holloway mysteries. I love her father Frank and wish he'd been my dad. I love reading about how they eat (Wilhelm's characters know how to make a great sandwich and put together a formal meal). I love Bailey the private detective and the cast of characters who live in Barbara's world. This series is terrific and I'm always left pining for the next and delighted when one appears. There are things I adore a...more

I'm not sure why I always pick up her books when we get them in, since they often subtly disappoint. Maybe it's that I forget that they are more like cozies than they are pitched. Also, the part about how she never explains where she is in the series plot, so you don't get filled back in on where she is with her relationships to the clearly recurring characters? No, I don't so much like that: I can't always pick titles up in strict sequence, and in this case, I'm even less motivated too.

I really enjoy Wilhelm's Barbara Holloway books. I especially like her father and Bailey and Shelley. That being said, I think without having read a Hollway book prior to this, I would have found some things hard to follow - she sort of jumped in to references of Darren without any background info, and also her pro bono work at Martins. Still an enjoyable "get-away" read!

I liked this book in the end but had set it aside for a while because it moves a little slow. it is a mystery solved by lawyers and their maneuvers from a legal view. I liked the family feel of the characters.

I really like some of Kate Wilhelm's books. This is not one of them. Uneven and choppy. It hardly made sense to me at times. I warned my mom against it, otherwise she'd buy it. She thanked me.

This is an interesting enough tale, but with only one surprise and little suspense or excitement, there is little to raise it above the norm for the genre.

i feel like this book was about 100 pages too long. It felt like forever to get to the end...too much frivolity and not enough substance.

Wilhelm, an Oregon author, features one of her heroines, Barbara Holloway, in an engaging mystery. Always good writing and good mystery.

I found it very disjointed and hard to follow the plot. I did not finish reading the book. I had to give up on it.
