Another informative and helpful book from Dr. Gray, though this one was a lot more uneven. The first half was great, and once again taught me that I've pretty much been doing everything wrong dating-wise in terms of laying a strong foundation for a long-term relationship. His discussion of the five stages of dating was immensely helpful and also helped explain why some relationships haven't worked out for me.

About halfway through, though, it started to feel like Gray was getting paid by th...more

my guy friend gave this to me, I didn't like it. Couldn't finish it. I read this sentence in the book where it said women should not give guys directions if they are lost or tell the guy he is lost. Hello are we supposed to drive around all night getting more lost??? with these gas prices...uh no!

After my seven-year marriage dissolved, I felt I needed something to get me in tune to the dating scene of the new era. A friend of mine had suggested this book so I read it with speculation and hesitation. I am glad that I did because I enjoyed it.

John Gray, the well known author of the best selling book Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus, takes you through the steps and stages of dating so that you end up in a lasting relationship. He lists five stages that you have to go through ...more

It's nice to actually think about dating sometimes, to not just believe that it's this magical organic process of getting swept off yr feet. He breaks down our approaches pretty simply: it's more satisfying to please a woman than to be pleased. I can roll with that. Here's to courtship.

Overall, this book more often addresses women and what they need to do to get a solid dude. It also was a little embarrassing to read on the subway--and I read some pretty embarrassing shit. For two pages...more

I like John Gray's collection of books. He reminds me of Dr. Phil before it became sensationalized and Delilah Luke from the Delilah Show on the radio stations. The authors may not necessary be champions of the topics of their discussion, but they bring insight, hope, help, and joy to their audience.

When you've read one of John Gray's books, you may feel like you've read them all. Avid fans would read them all and enjoy them all.

Well, one of my first forays into the self-help genre. More sponsored (and I swear this isn't to excuse myself from picking it up) by a friend's recommendation as revelatory about relationships than anything else. And granted there are elements to it that provide insight into the tricky world that is relationships. But still. There are way too many "casual" references to his workshops

Oh my gosh! I read this book about 6 years ago (I'm married now) and it changed the way I dated. I stopped doing the stupid stuff that girls can do when dating. I've loaned this book out to many people, some of which it's helped quite a bit. If you're willing to accept advice, I recommend this book. If you are stubborn and skeptical, read something else.

This is a book all single women should have on their bookshelf. I was amazed how many of my different relationships followed so many of the stages. It helped me realized the things I was doing wrong right from the start. I don't know if reading it changed anything I was doing but it was at least fun to be able to see what path I went down.

while i realize it's necessary to read relationship books with a grain of salt, i found this one to be pretty informative. to speak in general terms, it was interesting to read about the 5 stages of dating, and how men and women are in different situations. nothing too life-shattering, but definitely had some ah-ha moments.

Single or not...every woman ( I wish men would read this) should read this...good insight to dating and interacting with the opposite sex.
We could all use a little help understanding men (and ourselves for that matter)...this book teaches you a lot.

A quick read...Thin book, and I finished it in a few short days.

Jeri & I have been reading this together. It's interesting to get his perspective, especially since we are in the dating process. It is one sided at times to females, relating possibilities to them more than men, so it may be more useful as a tool for discussion rather than learning.

This book was of great help to me. I learned a great deal about myself and about Venusians (women). My philosophy and approach to dating women is forever altered with understanding derived from this book. It will continue to be a resource to utilize often with relationships!

Ok seriously...I bought this as a desperate late 20s year old. Did it hold the secret to why I was still single. Nope, not a chance. Only time and an acceptance of who I am held that secret. You can't find contentment in a book I'm afraid.

As you've probably noticed lately, I'm reading a lot of strange books. That's what borrowing audiobooks does to you... I give them all a try. And so long as they're interesting enough when I finish the first side of the tape I'll continue...

I can't believe I own this book. It is a very conservative outlook on dating (which a lot of people seem to agree with. Hmmmm). Clearly, this book did not make me an expert dater. But I do still think Men are from Mars.

My comments for this are the same as for the original "Men are from Mars..." Gray doesn't even really have a Ph.D. from an accredited insitution--just another reason for me to take his ideas with a grain of salt.

This book (and the person that recommended it) encouraged me to be someone other than myself in romantic relationships in order to get married. What kind of relationship is built on that foundation? Don’t bother.

I liked this book, it helped me to be more patient with men as they are truly martians. The main message is men want to give to women and make them happy and we should let them, I'm okay with that.
