The Secret of the Keepers starts right where LoA left off, and man, have I been waiting for this!!! We jump right back into their ride to their honeymoon, and Elizabeth gratefully does not make us wait long. She manages to beautifully balance the need for steam and a bit of detail with modesty and everything is appropriate.

The lyrical flow of Nora's voice is still present, and reading her thoughts and following her journey is such a joy. Emotions are a big part of SotK too, and Elizabeth has such a gift, I feel lucky to get to share in this story. Everything seems so real, if the characters are joyous, so am I, and if they are worried or grieving, she manages to show their feelings and explain it so that it makes me think of a similar situation I was in and I'm able to experience things right along with them.
So many things I was looking forward to was in SotK along with lots of unexpected. I was glued to my kindle and was a sad puppy when I had to put it down to do something else. Elizabeth beautifully continued her story, adding depth to the plot and opening up a whole new set of questions and issues for the next book.
SotK left me bawling at times, laughing and snickering at others, and fanning myself a bit at others. I can feel the love and devotion between Nora and Gavin, and then towards their clan and friends, and for the land and people of Kailmeyra. Nora has so much to deal with, and has to make such hard choices, I really empathize with her, and admire her for the strength she finds and everything that she discovers.
Of course, my favorites from LoA are present and there are some new characters to fall in love with, be suspicious of, and marvel at, from marvelous creatures to old ladies who I can never quite decide what to think about, and delightful children. And that is not even mentioning the "wild child:" she's amusing!
If you've been reading this blog much, you know that Light of Asteria is one of my favorite books, and Secrets does NOT disappoint. I HIGHLY recommend!(less)

I was worried wondering how author Elizabeth was going to pull off book two being just as amazing…but of course being Elizabeth Isaacs she did just that! The Secret of the Keepers was AMAZING! After reading two of Elizabeth’s novels I can now easily say I will be a forever fan and read ANYTHING she writes in the future. Her knack of writing so beautifully and writing such amazing adventures is purely astonishing.

Book two of the Kailmeyra series starts out at Nora and Gavin’s honeymoon, the two couldn’t be happier after going through so much in book one The Light of Asteria they can now finally spend their lives together as one. Nora is still adjusting to her powers, but she grows stronger every day, everything seems to be going perfect.. But then a war comes to Kailmeyra, Gavin and Nora must prepare their men to fight..

What an astounding remarkable AMAZING sequel this turned out to be! Like I said before I was really nervous picking up The Secret of the Keepers, but now that I have finished it…I think I may have even liked it MORE than book one! It was at least a tie, but I must say I loved a lot of things about this new addition to the Kailmeyra series..

First off I love Gavin and Nora’s relationship in book two, everything went up a notch! They were more romantic, they were more physical, they were more understanding, and literally just everything went up a notch!! I already knew they loved each other in book one, but book two shows us even more in depth how much they care for one another.

After the romance, I must say my favorite was some of the new characters added in, such as Rune. I LOVED Rune! I believe he was a great addition to the story. And on top of having new amazing characters, there was also a lot of development in our existing characters, Gavin I believe grew the most. I felt in The Light of Asteria Gavin was almost harsh at times, but in The Secret of the Keepers he was completely different. I felt you could really tell Nora had rubbed off a lot on him, he seemed much more kind hearted.

The last thing I loved about The Secret of the Keepers was all of the new places in the land of Kailmeyra that we got to see and explore, I absolutely love Elizabeth’s writing especially when she is describing a place. She details everything so beautifully, if I could live in one authors words, it would be Elizabeth’s.

Overall the Kailmeyra series has one of the most magical romances I have ever read, it has amazing characters, beautiful scenery, and is just overall an astounding series. It is hands down a series that everyone should enjoy!

I started this book and then left it to read something else...BIG MISTAKE! It's not that the beginning wasn't interesting I just at the time had to want to read off of my ipod. I would rather have the book....then I decided I owed Miss Isaacs a review.....guess what happened!? I was enthralled! I literally couldn't stop reading! It had me so hooked I read where ever I went! Even when it needed charge I would sit down and read from it's docking station. Again...wow..ya guys...I'm at a loss for words! Seriously! two paragraphs is all I have typed!!????? Dang!

Ok so you guys! The characters..the world.....the morals and kinsmen! The magic qualities...the love...the peace....it's all so descriptive so wonderfully! You literally feel like you are there! The beginning was so cute and goody-feeling! The middle....*sniffles* the middle I think was my best part! Elizabet did such a great job at building the climax! Literally she was such a genius with every line! Every word! Then the ending!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really REALLY need that third book.

When I first read THE LIGHT OF ASTERIA, I was blown away. Check out the review here. I fell in love with Kailmeyra and the characters of this amazing world. Nora and Gavin’s love is pure, and they don’t explore the usual tediousness in young relationships. They share an amazing connection.

What I loved in the second book was, even though we still saw the connection and purity of their love, they faced much deeper and darker obstacles. Even questioned at times. Gavin was darker. And I didn’t know...more

If I had to choose one word for this book it would be PERFECT, in every sense of the word. And once again I am already on the edge of my seat desperate to know what happens next.

While Nora has found her place in a 'paranormal' world, she is anything but. Her character is one of the strongest I have ever read, while remaining to true human qualities. New characters have been brought in, and I fell in love with them right away. As with The Light of Asteria, each character plays a vital and key role not only in the plot but in the world of Kailmeyra.

Elizabeth Isaacs has continued to amaze me, and if possible, The Secret of the Keepers is even better than The Light of Asteria. Not only is her writing honest and true, she herself is an amazing being. Your life is not as full without reading about the Alfar people of Kailmeyra and Nora's journey. Oh my god. This sequel is better than the first book. I got the first book free from Amazon (when it was for a limited time). This had more action and was more intense. I tire and scare of all the turmoil the characters have to go through in other books, but surprisingly, this one did not make me feel that way. It's weird. I just noticed it now, too.

My Thoughts:

3 stars - a good read

I struggle with epic fantasy. Trying to keep track of so many different names and places, I lose track of the clues that line the pages of the story. I feel like I'm reading with one hand tied behind my back. The combination of urban and epic fantasy in the first book captured my heart and I loved it. This book was set in the world of Kailmeyra without the grounding in Earth customizes and I struggled to keep everything straight. Despite this, I enjoyed the rich culture that is the Kailmeyra world. I love the characters that I met from the first book. They are devoted to each other and I was very emotionally attached to them. When they hurt, I hurt. I was overwhelmed by Nora and Gavin's relationship. Theirs is a true love. The time they spent together was sweet and wonderful. There were so many personal moments that they shared but I never tired of it. I love Gavin's protective manner and Nora's fierce determination to prove herself. I love that Gavin hears her thoughts and their is no hiding things from each other. They faced the issues between them and grew to be more concerned for each others point of view. They grew to love each other more if that was possible. The relationship they share is faith inspiring.

The story was harder for me to love. It was so tied to the many many Kailmeyra traditions and customs that I found myself lost a few times. I pushed forward wanting very much to know what would happen to my beloved characters. I'm not normally willing to do that but these characters were so strong and important to me that I kept reading. I'm glad I did. It's a great story.

If you lean to the epic side of fantasy, then this series is a beautifully written story of love, lose, friendship, family, faith and family. Check it out.

How jealous do I feel or Nora in the beginning of this book?! She’s married the man of her dreams and they are most definitely in the honeymoon period, living in one of the most beautiful, purest lands there is. Now THAT is my idea of bliss. This part of the book is written with such beautiful sensitivity that the whole thing is incredibly romantic and I really appreciated that. But you know what? The honeymoon can’t last forever and Nora has one hell of a fight on her hands with the Dokkalfar who threaten EVERYTHING she’s come to know and love.

This book was WOW. I loved it and couldn’t put it down! I laughed and cried as I shared Nora’s journey which was tumultuous to say the least. Be warned that there are quite a few revelations in this book and some shocking twists and turns that you won’t want to believe are true.

All the old characters are present and I have to say that I love Reena even more in this book, if that’s possible. She is such a bundle of joy that I wish I could pluck her out of the book and have her come live with me! Of course, then I’d also have to bring Weylin too *swoon* and just so you know, the only reason I wouldn’t take Gavin is because he is spoken for! Ah, but who pray tell is Waylin, I hear you ask? He’s just some hot, single warrior who oozes confidence and enjoys a challenge. I’M RIGHT HERE WAYLIN!!!! *adds to ever growing list of literary boyfriends*.

Another new character is Rune who I picture as a bit of a leprechaun/dwarf kind of character. I don’t know why, I just do *shrug* but he is adorable.

One of the things I enjoyed most about The Secret of the Keepers was finding out more about the culture and belief systems of Kailmeyra. I’m absolutely fascinated with the idea of everything having energy (which btw it does) and how this can be harnessed (which btw it can). And we find out the secrets behind Kailmeyra but unfortunately, so does the enemy and it aint gonna be pretty.

I love reading stories that explore the power of thought and also the power of faith which is why this series totally floats my boat. The writing is beautiful and strong for the most part but sometimes I got lost with who was speaking and where in time and space the characters were. The story is so strong however, that this did not detract from it at all. Overall, Elizabeth Isaacs definitely has talent and her books just keep getting better and better. Ahh, Kailmeyra goodness, how I've missed thee. For anyone who hasn't read the first book in a bit or just starting the series, read these two together if you can. These two flow so well together you won't be disappointed. Unlike most series this second book is just as strong and well written as the first. Only being sick kept me from reading this straight through.

When I came across her first book after it was recommend to me I'll admit it sounded interesting but I never would have guessed just how much I'd come to appreciate Isaacs' writing and the world in which she created. Even knowing how much I enjoy her writing style and the characters I was introduced to in her series opener, The Light of Asteria, when it came time to finally get the chance to check out her sequel I was once again surprised by my enthusiasm. The further I got into the book, the more intense the plot became and the more invested I realized I'd become.

Her characters, her writing, her world, and just about everything that went into this second installment was even better the second time around. Everything I loved about her first book, I came to love all the more, and everything she set her readers up to be angry about or the characters I was originally hoping wouldn't prevail...those feelings only got more amped up. She's got talent and her stories are the only evidence needed to back that statement up. This time around, there is still background given for readers with any new characters that are introduced, and a little more history on Asteria is also available, but other than that, the plot flies by without getting too hampered down with an overload of useless details. No sluggish moments in this novel, that I will say is a fact.

This sequel was so chalk full of big events that I'm afraid to reveal anything for fear of giving away some of the best twists and turns Isaacs could come up with. So all I can really say is that while I was admittedly surprised by how much I enjoyed Isaacs' writing and the world she has created for this series, it was without a doubt a very pleasant surprise at that. So like I always say, do yourself a favor and pick this series up if you haven't already done so, and if you have gotten the chance to read her opener, you're going to really love the continuation of this story.(less)

The story kicks off with Gavin and Nora traveling to the most incredible place anyone can imagine. If that isn't enough, their journey is leading them to the place they'll spend their honeymoon. As always, Isaacs doesn't let us down in the swoon department, but more than that, you truly feel the love between the Gavin and Nora. Elizabeth has a way of crafting her words and setting the scene to include the reader, to truly bring them into the story. It's an experience, I can promise you!

While Gavin and Nora's time is spent growing together and becoming one, that connection also proves to be a challenge in a way neither expected. With each one possessing certain traits and abilities, adjusting to the onslaught of an a Alfar mind becomes a struggle for Nora. But she takes it in stride, allowing Gavin to help her adjust to her newfound gifts and abilities even though she fears overwhelming the emotionally-private lives of her clan.

Before long, the honeymoon comes to a halt when word travels from the capital of Kaileyra that the Dokkalfar are growing in power and reviling in knowledge they should've never held. Now, Gavin and Nora must work together to operate as one as well as strengthen their clan to prepare for battle with the Dokkalfar.

Most of the original characters are in this story as well as a few, new friends. One new "guy" in particular, Rune, has quickly become one of my favorites! His gruff, straightforward ways are endearing, and his love for Kailmeyra heartfelt. Rune is a valiant and passionate character in the most unusual of packages! Not to mention, he's a hoot ;)

It's nearly impossible to put into words how I felt reading this story! Seeing the growth in the each character, making a few new friends along the way, and truly feeling everything Nora does is an opportunity few readers experience. I laughed, I cried, I rode a whirlwind of emotion throughout this journey! Isaacs' ability to create such an amazing world full of vibrant characters that feel as real as in any in our own is enviable! Her fluid style and sensory writing leaves you satisfied yet wanting more! Don't miss the opportunity to read this story!(less)

This book took my breath away more than once! Again, I love the purity of Nora and Gavins love and that through the difficult times they stay strong and their devotion is true. Gavin's instinct to protect is every girl's dream. Nora's intentions are always so pure and you know she'd do anything for her Love as well. I found myself feeling happiness, pain, sorrow, love, right along with the characters. Fantastic Elizabeth Isaacs! I cannot wait for the next chapter in Gavin & Nora's life.

Great second book in the series. Love watching Nora and Gavin grow as individuals and as a couple. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Again, it took me a bit of time to get into this author’s efficient writing style, and I had trouble with some of her descriptions of the character traits. For instance, Nora has six streams of thought, one of which she calls her “wild child,” which was a strange description IMO.

Did not dissapoint!! I actually feel as if I've formed a special bond with each and every one of the characters. By the end of the book, I was an emotional wreck though! Definitely happy that all of the characters stayed true to themselves. I cannot wait to see where the next installment takes them :)

O how I adore this series!!! They are intense and romantic! They make me want to live in a fairy land! This book is the sequel to The Light of Asteria and it was a good one! This one had a lot emotion in it because the author throws in some mad twists! I remember at one point I threatened to stop reading because I was so mad at the situation going on in the plot!
