Must better paced and written than the first novel in the series. The writing is crispier, the characters are more three dimensional. Childs shows more tells less.

Theo finds herself investigating the "accidental" death of one's of Charleston's rich and famous man. The poor man died over one's of Theo catering table cloth. Childs also found a way to bring alive Charleston's historical district without falling into the book/guide travel trap.

Interesting mystery and interesting ...more

Well I enjoyed this book much more than I did the first one. The solving of the mystery was much more plausible and the characters are being developed. It certainly isn't high literature but it is a nice, quick read without any language or inappropriate content and is filled with great descriptions of the setting and the tea shop goodies. It makes me want to take a trip to Charleston (a quick one, in cold weather!) I'll definitely keep working through the series when I'm in need of a quick r...more

This was a gift from my brother and sister-in-law. They made me a lovely basket with three mysteries (cat-related, tea-related, and Poirot), lots of tea, a pretty mug and matching coasters! It's my first "cozy" novel, as I am more of a classics kind of girl. I honestly didn't care "who done it", but I loved all of the tea talk! :) I also happen to be going to Charleston (where the novel is set) for Thanksgiving, so it'll be neat to see the town after having read about

Childs' second Theodosia Browning, Charleston, SC tea shop owner, mystery. Theo, along with her two employees, become involved in solving another murder. As usual, there are several potential suspects who Theo and friends have to winnow through to find the murderer. Another interesting read with more tea information.

I wanted to like this more than I did. There was a lot of info about teas, but overall, the characters didn't really grab me. It was okay, but I found myself skimming to try and find something that pertained to the actual crime, and that's never a good sign for a good mystery.

Another one of her tea shop mysteries, which are cute. At a Charleston sailing race, a man is killed when he fires an antique gun. Theodosia, the owner of the tea shop, lauches her own investigation when it seems the cops aren't getting anywhere.

I found the tea jokes a little bit heavy handed and the characters flat. It is a perfectly okay little mystery, butnot one with much depth. I probably would not buy another or track it down through the library.

I love this lady and her tea shop - good recipes from the employee that does the baking in the shop. Good mystery - lots of guessing, lots of danger, lots of suspects and the ending is always a surprise.

After reading the second in the Tea Shop Mysteries, I have decided I really must get to Charleston one day. And I've started buying lots of tea to drink while I continue reading this series.

I chose the book for the setting: Charleston, SC. The plot was mediocre and the characters mildly interesting. Lots of info about tea though, if you are into it.

Second in the "tea room" mystery series, set in Charleston, SC. A nice, mindless summer hammock read!

Don't read it too soon after the 1st one. You may be distracted by some of the proofing goofs.
