4 ½ stars – Vampire/Contemporary Romance

An alpha cowboy hunk + pleasure giving vampire + present day Texas setting (including my very own city of Austin) + Blaze’n hawt, hawt sex = Shawna one very happy girl! *naughty grin*

Cody Braddock is a hot, angst-laden, guilt-ridden, adrenaline junkie, alpha, champion bull-riding rodeo cowboy, and also happens to be a vampire, who draws his strength and invincibility from women’s orgasms, seeking vengeance against the master vampire who murdered his famil...more
Opening Line; "He hadn't had sex in forty-eight hours. While two days of deprivation was nothing for most men, Cody Braddock wasn't the average guy."

I’ve really been enjoying Kimberly Raye's sexy and hilarious Love At First Bite series. Set in Skull Creek Texas (where I’m seriously considering moving) These quickie romances follow the love connections of several of the towns eligible women as they get their groove on and find true love with gorgeous cowboys who (oh yeah) also just happen to be v...more
This one had a vampire. A cowboy vampire. A professional bull-riding, ex-Civil War confederate cowboy vampire. For all the vampire-ness it had, he might as well not have been a vampire. His vampireness didn't really play into the story, except that he could feed by sex as well as blood, so he NEEDED to have sex regularly.
The hero has a one-night stand with the heroine, rescues her from a bad vampire, and has to feed her some of his blood, so there's a link between them. Then, surprise! He has t...more

This review is for the audio book version as sold by Audible.

Of course, I'm listening to these out of order, but fortunately it doesn't make that much of a difference to when it comes to enjoyability.

Cody has been a vampire since the end of the Civil war. In one night he lost his humanity, his mother, sister in law, and nephew (or niece - I admit I can't recall which one it was there). But his chance to kill the vampire responsible, and regain his humanity, is waiting for him in Skull Creek, T...more

Cody and Miranda grabbed me right from the start. The two shared similar backgrounds which created a bond, a connection between them. And when Cody bit Miranda (He's a vampire), it only grew stronger. Cody is on a quest to find and stake the vampire who brutally killed his family and turned him and his remaining two brothers into creatures of the night. Along the way he meets Miranda who has her own demons to contend with. As she sets out to have wild, passionate sex with a stranger before she s...more
I got this book for free so was a little dubious to begin with. I did really like the story but there wasn't reall much to it. I then discovered that there are three books that come before this one. And the three main characters from them books all made an appearance in this book. So I'd imagine that reading them as well will be a good idea.
This story finishes with Brent going off to find their brothers wife (Rose) who they believed to be dead, but have discovered that she also was turned into...more

The Braddock Boys: Cody, by Kimberly Raye is published by Mills & Boon Blaze - steamier than the usual Mills & Boon!

To start with, I wasn't sure I was going to really enjoy this story of a sexy vampire, Cody Braddock, "turned" after the American Civil War and searching through time for the vamp that he believed killed his family. When I read the line "He'd had no sex for 48 hours", my first thought was "Aw, diddums!" But then I realised that Cody fed on sex for energy. Where he got blood...more

This is my first foray into romance with a paranormal edge and I have to admit I loved this book from beginning to end. I couldnt put it down. The pace is breath-taking and Cody is so dark and sexy. I'm now a fan of Kimberly Raye and off to buy more of her books.

Brilliant book started it this morning and just finished it love so on to the next Braddock brother yum hope it's as gud as the first
Haven't read a Blaze in a while and this was right up my alley. hot vampires, hot sex and a fast read.
More of a 2.5 because...I would like to say I am totally over the heroine who has only had sexual encounters with 3 men, all of whom apparently were incapable of finding a single erogenous zone. At some point, it occurs to me that in this podunk town, if all the men were that incompetent, the population would be zero. Thus, it has to be that the women all have some hangup somewhere that keep them from, oh I dunno… experiencing even a little bit of interest. That being the case, it seems to me th...more

Meyer gives us sparkling vampires. Raye gives us vamps with built-in color changing eyes - with random magical abilities.

I don't think there was much of a plot to this story. Miranda and Cody have a one-night stand, and though they seem to meet infrequently, thanks to their shared blood (and connection), they can't help thinking about each other - and subsequently, to fall in love. Cody seemed like a decent guy. He is supposedly a hardcore vampire cowboy, but aside from his thoughts of getting...more
Due to the fact it took me 4-5 days to get through this one, including a weekend, I rated it as a 2. If I were really enjoying a book of this length I would finish it inside a day. The premise would normally do it for me too - sexy cowboy, and a vampire to boot! I liked both main characters & felt they were nicely brought to life by the author, but I just found the pace incredibly slow!
Jo Smith
Cody strong dark brooding unattainable vampire. Miranda quiet insecure hiding behind her safe life. Just one fling, she needed just one act of wildness - this act bought them together. Give the book a chance the first chapter was coming back from the war & initially I wasn't sure I would enjoy but it's a good story, hot but not steamy. Interesting twist to lead on in the series.
Lorraine Sears
A tried and tested paranormal romance plot which resulted in a pleasant if not exactly nail-biting read. However, it was badly let down by the ending which was bland and uneventful. It completely missed the opportunity for a huge finale which could have given the characters a much happier ending.
Sexy vampire cowboy + soon-to-be married woman stuck with a dull fiancee in a dull life. She's determined to live a little before she settles down for something safe and practical, and he's exactly the man to meet her needs.
Julie Jones
Like the cowboy-vampire thing, but besides the sex..Don't see how this couple would have much of a relationship beyond mutual lust. But...It is a Blaze I guess I shouldn't expect more! LOL
Two-haiku review:

Vampire feeds off sex
She wants to sow some wild oats
Before she marries

Plenty of hot sex
Vampire cowboy wants revenge
She wants to escape

This is a typical Harlequin story only this time the hero is a vampire. It was good but I wasn't so impressed.
Tried 2 different days to read this and just couldn't get into it, so gave it up.

I've always been an incurable romantic. While I enjoy reading all types of fiction, my favorites, the books that touch my soul, are romance novels. From sexy to thrilling, sweet to humorous, I like them all. But what I really love is writing romance--the hotter the better!

I started my first novel back in high school and have been writing ever since. To date, I've published over thirty novels, one...more
