This could actually inspire rather amusing birthday cards:
(on front of card) Dear, I have a present for you.
(inside) It's right here, every moment of your life.
Breathe in (unless you're in China, have severe allergies, or are around smokers).
Enjoy (unless you have insomnia and really would prefer to go to sleep).
Take note of each second (unless you're taking a test, in which case checking your watch would only waste time).

this book gave me the chance to look at me who have been living in the world. Especailly, about my passed, present, and my furture.....
for a long time, i think that it is not important for me to do my life in present. but, present is my present(Gift). i will do my best in my life. and i will prepare for my furture.

This was written by the same guy as "Who Moved My Cheese" and is an excellent short little motivational book for people who need a better perspective on life. You can easily read it in a few minutes and I'm very glad I found it because it has helped me see things differently. Dr. Johnson has a unique gift for teaching you things about life through parallels that anyone can understand. I think his work is brilliant and I would recommend it to anybody who doesn't mind self-help books. M...more

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets book Dumbledore announces while being forced to leave Hogwarts that “Help will be given to those at Hogwarts who ask for it”. I have found that it is true for me in a different way. It seems as though some unseen identity has decided that “Help would be given to me through books whenever I need it and am ready for it”. It has happened to me before and it has happened again. I have been reading “The Present” by Spencer...more

This was my first Spencer Johnson read. I must say it is pragmatic for people who are so much worried about their past and future that they don't realize the importance of the gift which they possess right now - "The Present". Its a nice book which conveys its message in form of a simple and light story, which lets you think more while you read. As the book itself says that you can either learn a lot if you want to or nothing. So if you stop by after every few pages, relating to yourse...more

This book is pretty lame. Sit on the toilet for fifteen minutes and you’ll finish it. Play with the title for ten seconds and you have the whole book figured out. It has 74 pgs (could have been written in seven?) and is published by Doubleday. I finished it over three years ago and remember feeling a beautiful blanket of blah wrap over me.

The Precious Present was a lovely little book that reminds me to concentrate on living in the present & not to focus on the past or the future too much. I would recommend it to anyone who might need a gentle reminder not to dwell on the past or worry too much about the future.
The story tells about a precious present that when found will make you forever happy! You can't get it by wishing, or looking anywhere, because you already have it. Once you realize what it is, you will be content... only you can give yourself the precious present.
This book taught me to make the most out of each moment and to learn that good or bad, the present is where you are and what matters most... go with it. You can't go back and relive or change the past. Future plans aren't alw...more

When I first started reading this book, I found it a little cheesy because it is written in such a simplistic way, and the story line is somewhat bland. However, it got better and it had some valid points. My favorite quote in this book is, "It is hard to let go of the past if you have not learned from the past. As soon as you learn and let go you improve the present."
As a young boy grows into an adult, he shares this journey with a wise old man. It’s through this relationship that he learns about “The Present”. According to the old man, The Present is the best present anyone can receive.
As the young boy grows into a young man, he becomes restless with his life and career. He repeatedly returns to the old man to seek guidance and wisdom about how he can obtain The Present. Each time, the old man explains that only the young man has the power to fi...more

I LOVED the calligraphy--so pretty! I read this to my Mom as she was making soup this morning and I was drinking coffee in my fleece pajamas. It reminds me that I need not ruminate about the past or worry about the future; I can learn from the past and plan for the future but to be happy I can experience the present moment.
I thought this book was a big stretch.... Not very interesting. Not very well written. Okay, so the message was to live in the present. I get it. But, this is so contradictory to all the other popular management and leadership theory that I had a hard time taking this very seriously. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
just a great reminder for this time in my life. I was reminded not to live in the past or be anxious about the future, but to live in the present. It's what Derek says everyday: "How can I be faithful to the Lord TODAY?" While not a christian book, it's easily applicable to life as a Christian.
It's akin to Peaks and Valleys - story with morals - one person narrating to the other - old man teaching n preaching young boy, who later becomes a man - he starts realising words of old man - preaches to others when he himself becomes old man - that previous old man dies...
but nice book

A very interesting book that emphasizes four things:
1. Concentrating on the present (the best present)
2. Learning from the past
3. Planning for the future
4. Having a goal
Now I like Spencer Johnson. I wanna read "Who Moved my Cheese" now.

The book was okay. The general idea of focusing on the present and staying positive resonated with me ... but by the end I though the story got rather convoluted and overdone. It felt like a lot of fluff for the point that was being made.
Nice story on how to focus on the present, learn from your past, plan for the future, and realize your purpose in life. After reading this short story, I think that I might read an earlier book by the same author called, “Who Moved My Cheese.”

This book prompted me to look at the way I live...especially my balance between work, family, and my creative endeavors. I would recommend this to anyone who wonders if they have a balanced and ultimately happy life.
Love the idea and how it is presented and the flow of the story and really finding a difference in my attitude when reading it,, but its something we already learned and have in Islam from Words of our Prophet PBUH
