Each chapter in this book starts out with a little bit of history behind the craft at hand. The book is a compilation of projects from different well-known crafters so you'll find a one-page bio for each, followed by an outstanding project.

The cookie flower pin by Lara Newsom (of www.handmadepretties.com) is a great way to incorporate embroidery into a fun brooch. I'm also loving the ultra-hip vinyl sneaker pouch by Vanessa Brady (www.gerberadesigns.com). The Little birds mobile by Emerald Mosle...more

some of the crafts in this book are darling. i make a lot of stuff already, and i'm luckily surrounded by infinitely crafty and creative people, so i felt like this book lacked much real originality. it was more of a reminder to finish projects i've started and abandoned than an inspiration to begin anything new. personally, i tend to be annoyed by craft books that are materials-driven and not strong on concepts & patterns. the crafter culture handbook walked a fine line in this area. it was...more

This was okay. Not what I was hoping for, but it does have a couple of cute patterns to try out.

When I first flipped through this I wasn't very impressed. It seemed like a very mixed bag of activities, but then I sat down and really looked through it. I now want it for my very own. Very fun crafts with all kinds of materials. I am going to try to make the bird mobile for my cousin as a baby shower gift.

i have made the laptop case and the little birds mobile from this book, and both were fun and satisfying projects. i am keeping this book for future craft inspiration.

Found this book very inspirational. I would never have thought of working with little lights, or wiring a typewriter to the computer as a keyboard.
The stories of each crafter were very interesting. I devoured this book in less than a week.

there are some great crafters featured here, but the writing is so repetitive and difficult to trudge through. i think it's also a little overly political. dudes, sometimes it's just fun to make stuff -- it's not always a statement.

In terms of inspiration this book is tops- however when I went to execute a sewing project the pattern instructions were not well edited and (gasp) I had to figure it out for myself- still a super cool book, though

I like crafting, but I don't much consider extrapolating on the "culture" of crafters. I just wanna craft, ya know?

There was one cute project featured, but mostly just a lot of WORDS. Blah, I say.
