Let Elizabeth Adler sweep you away to the dramatic cliffs and ocean of Italy's Amalfi coast, in this novel of secrets, memories, and unexpected love…

Lamour Harrington's husband died two years ago. Since then, she has immersed herself in her landscape architecture, but even creating beautiful outdoor "rooms" can't bring back her sense of peace. When she's faced with a devas

This has to be one of the stupidest books I’ve ever finished. Like other books by Adler this is basic romantic chick lit – a fast, easy beach read that tickles my romantic imagination. Beautiful, head-strong but vulnerable American goes to Italy in search of her roots and “the truth” about her father’s death. There she’ll meet a magnificent, wealthy Italian who will capture her heart. What’s not to like? Well … The writing is hackneyed; the character development is nil; and, about 100 pages from ...more

This is not my typical genre AT ALL, so this is a review with an asterisk! I'm not a huge fan of this type of "classic romance". I like my romances new adult/contemporary/angsty/full of chemistry, clever wit and banter. I only read this book because I am taking a trip to the Amalfi coast soon. I have been in the midst of planning our trip and I thought it would be fun to read something set there~ Desired now achieved!

A 2 star book that I am rounding up to 3 - because it completely satisfied my I

In case you haven't noticed yet, I love her cozy mysteries/travel books. She really gives a sense of place and danger but nothing too scary or violent. I call her work Chick Flicks with an Edge. :)

.... Let me start by saying I listened to this book. I checked it out of the library on a whim ....thinking what the heck. It is not the usual book I would read. This was by far the most entertaining audio book I have ever experienced. The narrator was Carrington MacDuffie and let me tell you she brought this book to life. Her ability to change to an Italian accent, switch for from female to male character was astounding. The story painted such a beautiful picture of the coast of Italy and the c ...more

Though I strongly suspected it would be corny based on the synopsis in the dust cover, I was looking forward to this book. It was a romance set in sun-drenched Italy, and I needed something light and happy to cleanse my brain after several heavy WWII era books. While it did deliver romance and exotic locales, it was otherwise a complete and utter disappointment.

For one thing, I don't understand how this author got this book published, let alone 15 more. The writing was atrocious. She used the s

I love to read about beautiful places, and I have heard the Amalfi coasts is one of the most beautiful places on this planet! Alder's description of the steep cliffs rising up out of the sea, the narrow winding road, and the pretty houses with trailing vines of gorgeous flowers covering them, and the beautiful blue water below brought back wonderful memories of the day we drove along the coast and stopped to eat lunch at a charming restaurant just like the ones Lamour and Jammy ate at.

I listened to this on my IPod.

Lamour Harrington lost her father, (call me) John Boy Harrington when she was 17, just after she graduated from high school. He had been living in Italy, on the Amalfi coast, in a house that Lamour had lived in with him for a short time when she was 8. She had fond memories of that house in Amalfi. John Boy was reported to have died in a boating accident, and sometimes Lamour wondered what he was doing out on a boat during a storm when he hated sailing? Her husband

Chick lit...need I say more? I enjoyed the story and was interested in finding out the mystery of John Boy. I love the description and it made me want to visit Amalfi and see the beautiful yellow house on the cliff. Italy has always been a place I wanted to visit. I have now added a new city to the list.

This was a very sweet story even though it was rather predictable. Adler does a little more than adequate job of describing the coastal towns. It was a very enjoyable read!

Capri. Positano. Amalfi. The title conjures up memories of the southern Italian Gold Coast. If you need an escape, this well-drawn setting helps. Everything else is as forced as the protagonist's cheesy name, Lamour. 20 years after her father's mysterious death, a recent widow returns to Italy to unravel what really happened. Why she waited this long remains an enigma. In the process, our thirtysomething heroine is torn between a rich twentysomething Italian and his fiftysomething father. Can yo ...more
