Sexual Prowling set in a fast paced futuristic setting sure to please those who love layers of sinful devourings and adventure.

I've found myself reading a ton of Sci-fi romance lately and I thank my lucky stars that they were books that were easy coming for newbies. Gambit, on the other hand, had me dropped to the ground full out running.

The world setting is a big chunk to chew but thankfully it is very tasty :D A newbie may find difficulty in all the terms used but not so much the structure of
More like a 3.5 star review for me.

Being the self confessed nerd that I am, I was attracted to this book due to the science fiction and fantasy element, as well as the intriguing cover. First of all let me say that if you are not a science fiction fan, you will probably not like this book. Mostly, since the reader is thrust into this a futuristic, alien world, with little time for world building or background preparation. At times it was a bit overwhelming. However, if you manage to hold on tig
Unsual worldbuilding, tight writing, and a Romance that pulls you along.

At first I wasn't sure if I'd like this story. The heroine came across to me as a foul-mouthed nympho, and the hero a cold and manipulative rich guy. Turns out both had their reasons.

The sex was hot but not overwhelming. They didn't grope when they were in danger. I liked that.

The worldbuilding and high speed plot kept me interested until the romance had hooked me so deeply that I lost two nights sleep reading this SFR.

Gambit is a novel by Kim Knox and a Futuristic Romance from Carina Press.

Book Blurb:

I love everything I've read by Kim Knox, and this is no different....Captain Chae Beyon is a wild mercenary and a pilot who is dragged against her will into an imperial power struggle, by one of the many ruthless houses seeking to control the imperial “sunder-seld” (or throne, in other words). What comes with the deal is her instant attraction to the candidate for whom she’s been hired, Daned Traern, a Laidaian first caste. Yet Daned isn’t exactly interested in Chae for more than the power of he ...more
Gambit was a strange little novel. It started off as a very intriguing bit of erotic science fiction, but halfway through, the entire tone of the story changed and left me scratching my head. I enjoyed it well enough, but the abrupt shift and the shortness hobbled what I think had the potential to be a really intriguing SF/erotic romance.

We’re dropped right into the action, which is always a good way to start a story. Chae, our smart-assed, messed up heroine, is suffering the effects of a truth
Gambit by Kim Knox is a sexy thrill ride where the tables are turned so many times that it seems like no one place or 'person' is safe in the entire universe. This uncertainty stems ultimately from the basic premise of the book - that a man (Daned Traern) is hiring a female pilot (Chae) to make sure that he's in the right place at the right time. They're fighting time, space, other contenders for a powerful (and rich!) throne, as well as avoiding frequent brushes with death and treachery. To mak ...more

How I got this book: NetGalley

This past year I have discovered some absolutely incredible Science Fiction Romance authors: Linnea Sinclair, Gini Koch, and KS Augustine to name a few. With that, I got super excited about the genre. However, I’ve also found myself somewhat disappointed with the genre as well. Knox’s new release from Carina Press was one of those that just didn’t really do the best job of drawing me in and keeping me engaged in the story.
I never know what to expect with these sexy scifi numbers - I guess it is pretty much like the genre in general. Some just overwhelm you with world building, different languages, alien races etc., until your head is spinning and you are trying to distinguish a Romulan from a Shinon Companion. Gambit was a bit on the over-whelming side - Knox sort of plunges you in feet first, but once you regain your footing the story was highly imaginative, very sexy and an enjoyable read. It was rather like a ...more
I loved this book. To be honest, I wasn't expecting to enjoy it that much, but I was pleasantly surprised!

Chae is a merc in a futuristic world of humanoids. She is a "mongrel" andof the lowest cast. She will take on any job, as long as it pays. Her latest job turns out to be more than she expected though. Chae must smuggle Daned onto a heavily guarded planet so he can be the first Ladaian male to sit on the throne. In order to keep cover Daned will pose as a sex slave that Chae has purchased.

I really wanted to like this book. It's SFR, which I adore, and it's from Carina Press, a publisher that I like to support. Unfortunately, the relationship between the hero and heroine shifts way too fast from dislike to mutual love/lust. This is attributed to some strange link between them, which seemed to me like an excuse for not working to develop their relationship in other ways.

I did like the hero, who starts out very enigmatic; the heroine was a lot more difficult to warm up to. While th

Kim lives on an ancient boundary line, once marked by a Neolithic burial tomb. The tomb’s now a standing stone circle–thank the Georgians for that one–and stirs her mind with thoughts of history and ancient myths. She mixes the essence of the past into fantasy, along with the essential mix of magic and sex. She also writes science fiction romance, pushing out into the far future with effortlessly ...more
