This is a book that desperately needed to be written. There is a huge gap in the literature on the Vietnam war when it comes to our knowledge of "the other side," the Vietnamese forces, in particular the fighter pilots and the MiGs they flew. Unfortunately, this book is a badly written mess that is close to useless.

We should expect there to be some large discrepancies between American statistics and Vietnamese statistics. Each side in any war tends to count kills and losses in their own favor, a

Contains some rare material, perhaps unique in English, and certainly is worthwhile for readers interested in the SE Asian air campaign. Contains some factual errors but mainly the text needs to be read with the author's political bias in mind. A useful companion to the Osprey series on the MiG-17, 19, and 21 in NV service.
