Romance Reader
I kind of liked the other three books in this series, but this one just didn't hit the mark for me. The hero (Devon) was kind of manipulative in the relationship, and the heroin (Kat) never seemed to follow through with her beliefs even though she was supposed to be this strong, independent woman. Plus I never understood Kat's relationship with her brother or even why he and Devon were such great friends--Malcolm was a bit of a lightweight and never stood up to or for anyone.

I am really liking this series. Of course, I knew from the beginning of this book how it ends...happily ever after as with 99.9% of Romance novels. The title goes a step farther...I knew exactly how it would end. The result for me every step of the way...a knowing chuckle. I knew Devon was going to fall into the very trap he was trying to avoid. Also, Katherine didn't have a choice either. I don't usually pick up the next book in a series. I couldn't help myself. Marcus is the last St. John to h...more

This was the first book I've read in the author's 'Talisman Ring' series, but I plan to get the next book, LADY IN RED. I enjoyed learning about the 'curse' of the ring and meeting Devon St. John. He was determined to seduce Kat Macdonald, the 'ruined' half-sister of his friend Malcolm, thinking that would protect him from the curse...and from marriage. What he didn't count on was falling in love with this smart, independant woman.

Devon St. John and Melody Macdonald make an awesome pair. Though Devon was bit of a jerk at the start- looking at Melody as nothing more than an accessible romp between the sheets, he quickly changes his tune. Melody is no cliched spinster, despite the bitterness life has offered her in the past. She is still delicate and headstrong. Who knew that was the combo needed to bring a certain St. John to his knees?

Devon St.John is cursed by the family talisman ring he thinks. He flees to Scotland to visit his friend Malcolm and falls in love with his step-sister Kat Macdonald.
Light but very romantic.

Whenever I can score one of her books, I always grab it for it's entertainment value.
Rebecca (everyday reader)
Kat is a ruined woman by society's standards, she works for her living and lives in her own home. Devon is an extremely rich and eligible bachelor who is spending a few weeks away from all the wily women who want to be his wife. He is also trying to hide from his family's cursed talisman ring, which implies that the one in posession of it will marry next. Kat is not his usual type so he thinks he'll be safe with her, but love grows between them as they get to know each other. Passion explodes, p...more

Enjoyable story furthering the curse of the Talisman Ring. This is Devon's story. While visiting a friend in Scotland, Devon meets the beautiful and lush half-sister of his host. Determined to seduce her, Kat is hesitant to get involved with anyone, having been burned in the past. I had a bit of trouble with Devon's unscrupulous designs on Kat, at first, but the the whole story and their courtship won me over. 3.5/5
