In short The Vivatera is the story of a girl named Naomi discovering the mystery that is herself in a mythical world full of people and creatures which may or may not be trying to help her. She is a mystery to herself and most others with an unfortunate past, a shaky present and a very unknown future.

This book was EPIC!! Seriously, the thought process that obviously went into the world building was fantastic. There were so many characters to like and learn about. I loved how the book went from character to character so we weren't stuck with hearing only one persons thoughts and feelings.
As a main character I loved Naomi. Even though she was pretty clueless (at no fault of her own) she was always kind and thoughtful and thinking of others first. I liked how we were able to watch her grow int...more

The author did a wonderful job with this novel. I was drawn into the story rather quickly and it became immediately apparent that the plot was thought-out carefully. In fact, there were times that the complexities of the plot became so complicated that it was somewhat dizzying. This is the kind of book you definitely have to go back through a second time to fully understand and appreciate. The Vivatera is an amazing creation, especially as a debut novel. I'll be watching for book 2.
Wow! I haven't read in awhile; months even. I was trying to read Little Dorrit and the daunting task left me exhausted that I begged off reading for awhile. I decided to read some YA, due to it's lightness. But what a great read this YA was. On my Nook it was 1000+ pages on medium font.
It started off a bit slow and mundane it was for a spell but as soon as the action turned up the mystery and intrigued takes hold and though you pretty much figure out Everstar's existance; at least to a basic de...more

i loved this book, it has awesome magic, and the main charachter has an cool name, i based my rating on her cool name, just kidding. the only thing i wish would be different, is more romance. it teased me the whole book, of how clase the romance was, but it wasn't happening, and then there was only a little the last page, so that is the only thing, i really liked it, with all the adventure and stuff in it.

Candace created such a creative and wonderful place in her book. I couldn't help feeling at the end that I had magic that I could talk to and express my emotions to. This book was a wonderful read. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
I am thoroughly impressed with this book. I, for one, am not particularly fond of magical books or fairytale lands. I felt compelled to read this book because I admire the author, and I was excited to see a little part of how her brain works...so I gave this book a try and I LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! It did draw me in and I am very anxious for the second book to come out! I truly do believe the author MUST be part pixie to have such an amazing connection to this 'magical' entity!
This could have been a great story, but it reads like a first draft with distracting spacing errors. This is written in third person, all-knowing which makes it difficult to keep track of who is thinking/feeling what. Too much was told instead of shown: such as when we're constantly told the guy is "sweet" but he never really acts sweet.
This was the first book I read on my new Kindle - yay! I still like the satisfaction of turning pages & watching my bookmark move, but it was so nice to read it while I was on the treadmill - and have it fit in my purse. I also loved to just highlight a word & get the definition.
Okay - so enough about my kindle. The book was REALLY good. It's been a LONG time since I've read a book that was that intricate. So many characters & things going on. I don't read a lot of fantasy, but it w...more

Magic and kidnappings. I'm ready.
This was a really great book. I would even say 4.5 stars.... The only reason I say 4 instead of 5 is because I found myself confused throughout the book. Some characters were very important in the end, but their names and story was not familiar throughout... so by the time the characters became involved I had almost forgotten who they were in the story. I figured it out, but at multiple times I found myself wishing I had paid more attention or read it twice. Other than that I really enjoyed it!
A good story, but it took me a while to get into it. Most of the relationships are rather underdeveloped which makes it difficult to be invested in them. The journal sections are fragmented and written in an annoyingly messy font, and could have been integrated in much better ways.

I am looking forward to book two! I found the story to be quick paced. Naomi is a kind character always looking out for others before herself. I love how people that were searching and looking into her power got what they were bargaining for. Even for someone that does not want to use the power to his or her benefit fell into her power wanting more of it. I was hoping that the secret of who she was would play out more at the beginning.
I loved this book! I actually read it on my mom's kindle then bought it myself when I got home. This is a well written book with strong characters and an amazing world that draws you completely in. I really hope that Candace J. Thomas writes another one because I would love to know what will happen next! I definitely recommend this book!!!!! It is worth the money!
As I read Vivatera I was amazed at the talent Candace has. I was amazed at how she wove her tale. It taught about loyalty, mystery, symbolism and the worth of a soul.
Thank you for taking me on a journey to such an enchanted place Candace. You may draw blood today but I wouldn't be surprised if you make movies tomorrow!!
Well done Candace

Candie was born on the luckiest day of the year and considers herself half pixie.
