I was so delighted when I discovered the movie was inspired by a book! I really thought the film was so sweet, such a feel-good kind of chick flick. The book however, is a whole lot better.

This is the kind of story that makes you believe in magic. It makes you believe that two people can be fated to love one another and that that love is capable of creating the most unexplainable of miracles. It's books like this that strangely feature no religion but yet make me feel closer to G More...

I picked this up (while weeding books at my library) because that movie with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo, where she's in a coma and he falls in love with her ghost, was based on it.
I didn't like the movie that much, but I thought maybe the book would be good, I'm not sure why.
Anyway, it wasn't.

This is a wonderful story about how we should value every moment of life we are given and what a gift it is. I really loved this book, it is the most beautiful story! If only our lives weren't so busy that we forget the basic concepts of life. To make the most of every moment.

This is the story of Arthur and Lauren and how two people came together. Lauren is a coma patient whose soul is free from her body, Arthur lives in what was her apartment. They meet and when Lauren convinced him More...

Read this years ago, and remembered it as being vaguely interesting. We had to get up at half past stupid to take Guyczuk to the airport this morning and when i got home, i decided to re-read it. Found myself very disappointed in the writing, and in the sentimentality of it all. Oh well. some books should not be revisited. Guess heartwarming for me is something different now....

Don't you just love it when you pick up a book from the Reader's Choice shelf at the library and it totally delivers!?

Arthur finds a stranger hiding in his linen closet one morning and she's shocked that he can see and hear her. Lauren has been in a coma for six months but her spirit is alive and well, and Arthur is the only one who can see her. At first Arthur doesn't believe Lauren until she takes him to the hospital to show him her body. Arthur promises to help Lauren find a wa More...

When I was in high school my best friend's mom convinced my and my best to buy a book each instead of going to a movie. She said that it would be about the same price and we'd get more hours of entertainment, therefore it was a better value. This was the book I chose because it was the movie we were going to see. She was right, it took me longer to read then 2 hours but it didn't make me run back to the bookstore for another book.

What does that say? I don't know, I wasn't really rea More...

Tried to get into this one but it lost me about a quarter of the way through. The blurb sounded good but it just couldn't keep me interested.

Back Cover Blurb:
Lying in the bath in his new apartment, Arthur, a young architect, is understandably surprised when he hears fingers clicking to the sound of the music from the radio. Tracing the noise to a closet, he finds an attractive young woman hiding and, assuming she is part of a practical joke, asks her to leave.
But Lauren More...

I wanted to love this book because it is what the movie Just Like Heaven was based on. I figured the characters would be more fleshed out and you would learn more about Mark Ruffalo's character, but the whole back story was different and not nearly as engaging. Rent the movie; it was worth watching more than once and the book wasn't worth finishing even once.

When I discovered Marc Levy, some years ago, I realized it was a magic writer.
This was the first of his books I read, around 2003 or 2004.
Then they made a movie of it - but, as always, the book is better!

After a few years and some two or three books in between, Marc Levy would write the continuation of this story - which the movie, by twisting the end in order to finish "well", had not made it possible to expect a sequel.

I have read Marc Levy in his o More...

I actually give this book an A+. The title caught my eye while reading an article in PREMIERE magazine that Spielberg had purchased the film rights to do a movie based on the book.

It was a fun "what if" kind of book that explores an 'almost' loss of life and moments that occurred during a comatose state. It's an original romantic novel with a lot of meaning intertwined. A lovely book. Some of the tricks that the main character, Lauren, did reminded me of "Bewitched" More...

This is a classic love story, yet a great ghost story too. The book starts when Lauren, the main character, a very successful medical intern. has a car accident on her way to a well deserved weekend away. Six months later, she finds herself in her old apartment--but she is a ghost. The book is quite funny at times, because she is describing her abilities as a ghost how she can change outfits and spy on people! It is an incredible story which the author convinces you that it is possible. More...

Good book, but I didn't find it anything too spectacular. I'd say that I still enjoy the movie version much more. I expected to be very emotionally connected to this book [considering the way that I cry my eyes out whenever I see the movie] but I just felt that it was far too slow and "explanitive" [it's very.. "this person did this, then they did this, and then they said this, and so & so said this in reply.."] I feel as though most stories that touch you emotionally do so b More...

This book is what the movie Just Like Heaven is based on. I loved the movie, so I tried the book. It was a cute, but a somewhat unbelievable story. Especially the part where he steals her comatose body from the hospital and keeps it for a couple of weeks and a police officer finds out but says, "Oh well, let's take her body back and I'll not arrest you." This is one of those books/movies where some things about the book I liked more than the movie, but there were also some things a More...

I didn't like the way this book was written. A narration forced to the third person, a narrator forced to objectivity... it would've been better if any one of the two main characters would've told the story or maybe a parallel display of the two versions, like in John Fowles's Collector.
The book was very easy to read, I could've as well skimmed the pages and still got the idea, but that was maybe because I saw the movie too. Anyway, it lacked details. At least the first half (I think) of t More...
