I didn't think this one was as great as Tacky, or even the Princess parrot one. I kept waiting for the book to get to the climax and didn't find myself enjoying it along the way as I do with her other works. And I'm still trying to figure out if Buddy doesn't hear well, or if he doesn't listen. (HUGE difference, and a possible lesson there if that were the case.) But my biggest problem was the copy I read was really, really smelly. And you know me and smelly books--we don't like to be near each

Buddy the bunny rabbit has big beautiful ears, but that doesn't matter. Buddy has a listening problem and always brings his parents something they didn't ask for. One day, Buddy goes on a long hop and when he comes to the fork in the road he can't remember if he is supposed to go right or left... because he never listens. This is a great little story of why it is important to listen and pay attention to what you are told.

I was just introduced to Helen Lester and though this is only the second book of hers I've read, I really enjoy her books. They are clever and not painful to read (you know the ones you groan inwardly about when you see that is the book your child has chosen for a bedtime story :) In both books I caught myself chuckling which made my girls laugh too. Fun stuff!

This book can be used for teach students about the importance about listening and paying attention. I like the way the author illustrated the character bunny with emphasizing the long ears. It matches with the lesson that you have to listen to others. I want to read this book on the first day of school.

Buddy would not listen even though nothing was wrong with his ears, he just did not pay attention until he found out that he was missing something important and had to listen to keep himself safe.

I like this book because first he didn't listen and then he did listen. My favorite part was when his mom said to go to the left and he went to the right to the Scruffy Varmint.

we laugh out loud every single time we get to "who get the what from the where side of the where what?" so much fun to read and a good lesson as well

This is one of the funniest books!!! Knock yourselves out! It reminds me a little of a certain folktale, too!

Lots of rhyming words. Very silly withs lots and lots of repetition. A great book to remind children about the importance of being good listeners. An activity could follow where children create bunny ears and wear them ( take home).

I love children's books, partly because they are the majority of books that I read at this point in my life. This is a funny tale that has a great lesson (good to read to a child that doesn't listen)

My Mom and I both like Helen Lester's books. She found this gem in a used book store in Princeton, NJ, for $3!
Mommy says: A good book about the consequences of not listening!

Not my favorite of the Helen Lester books, but cute nonetheless. Buddy learns how important it is to listen to his parents.
